a blazing inferno torching a church, but it's what the flames didn't burn that's getting all the attention. and from pets to a fishhead, uber reveals the weirdest things left behind by passengers. good wednesday morning. thank you for joining us. we begin with the growing anger in california's capital city. >> emotions were raw during last night's city council meeting in sacramento sparked by police reaction to monday's protests in the stephon clark shooting case. demonstrators say officers used a militarized response to a peaceful protest. >> protesters also demanded answers after state prosecutors declined to file charges against the officers who shot and killed clark who was unarmed. overnight chaos at a city council meeting in sacramento. >> and liberty and justice for all. >> justice for all. >> reporter: protesters flooded the chambers eager to speak to officials about the police shooting death of stephon clark.

>> shut up and listen. >> we're asking you to match our courage. >> thank you, pastor. >> reporter: it comes after days of protests in the city, which included more than 80 arrests monday night. [ chanting ] police shot and killed clark last year after he was suspected of vandalizing cars. prosecutors said the officers wouldn't be charged because it appeared clark was holding a gun while evading police. that item turned out to be a cell phone. a separate investigation by the state's attorney general also cleared the officers. >> our investigation has concluded that no criminal charges against the officers involved in the shooting can be sustained. >> reporter: at last night's council meeting demonstrators demanded answers. >> no, this is public safety. our community is telling you we don't feel safe with these officers on the street. i need you guys to hear this. >> i don't know how y'all sleep at night because i didn't. >> i don't know if you got the memo, but you need to fire these officers. fire the officers.

>> reporter: and outside the council meeting, more protesters gathered. abc's will carr was there. >> police officers have formed a wall with their bicycles keeping these protesters back from the windows of the council chambers. >> reporter: and back inside the chambers, all city council members including mayor darrell steinberg briefly left the meeting as emotions started to boil over. >> stephon clark. >> the police chief says they are investigating the actions of police during monday's night protests that resulted in 84 arrests and federal prosecutors are now opening a civil rights investigation into clark's death. now to the showdown between president trump and house democrats over security clearances. >> the white house is refusing to turn over documents about jared kushner's security clearance that was allegedly granted after president trump overruled his top officials. now a new report says he did the same for his daughter. >> abc's serena marshall has the latest from washington. good morning, serena. >> reporter: kenneth, janai, good morning to you, and that is

the question they are at odds over, whether the president overruled career intelligence officials including concerns raised by the cia and ordered security clearance given to his son-in-law jared kushner as the president now lashes out at democrats and their wide-ranging probe. the white house not complying refusing to provide the house oversight committee any information about whether president trump ordered that his son-in-law jared kushner be granted top secret security clearance against the recommendation of intelligence officials. >> congress has an independent responsibility, a very solemn one to do oversight. >> reporter: the white house has called their request overly intrusive and the standoff over internal members which according to "the new york times" were written by chief of staff john kelly and white house counsel don mcgahn urging against the clearance. the president ordering it be given anyway, and cnn now reporting he also pushed for his daughter ivanka trump to also get clearance. those memos contradicting previous statements like this. >> the president had no

involvement pertaining to my clearance or my husband's clearance, zero. >> reporter: the president's not responding to questions about those security clearances, instead lashing out at democrats and their sweeping new investigations. >> it's a disgrace. it's a disgrace to our country. they just say presidential harassment, but that's okay. >> reporter: the judiciary committee demanding documents from 81 current and former thump administration officials, his family and related companies. >> there has to be a check on the executive. >> reporter: investigating everything from the sit-down with vladimir putin to that trump tower meeting and even whether the trump family are profiting from the presidency. amid the flurry of investigations on capitol hill, there are at least half a dozen. the president's former lawyer and fixer, michael cohen, is back up on capitol hill for a fourth day of testimony, this time again behind closed doors. kenneth, janai. >> and we understand cohen is expected to bring documents to corroborate his testimony. serena marshall, thank you. >> thanks. north korea appears to be rebuilding a long-range rocket test site that had been dormant

since last summer. experts say satellite images show that key structures were quickly reassembled and they believe the work began before or just shortly after the failed summit in hanoi between president trump and kim jong-un. the president has said that kim promised not to resume nuclear and missile tests. british counterterrorism police are investigating three explosive devices mailed to london transportation hubs. they were set to go off when opened. the one at heathrow airport did detonate, but no one was injured. the others were sent to city airport and the waterloo train station. two of the mailings had irish stamps prompting irish police to now help with the rnlama have been i enfied. they include ten members of a single family. at least seven people are still missing. the funeral for one of the youngest victims, 10-year-old taylor thornton, will be held on friday, the same day president trump plans to visit the area. he's already signed a disaster declaration and ordered federal aid. about 3,000 residents of

california's santa barbara county are out of their homes overnight. a new storm is bringing heavy rain to practically the entire california coast. and there are fears that will trigger mudslides in areas burned by last year's massive wildfires. the storms have just produced an incredible light show over santa barbara. take a look there. time now for a look at your weather for this wednesday morning. good morning. we're looking for stormy conditions along the west coast. we're looking at flash flood and urban flooding and, believe it or not, two to four feet of snow in the sierra nevada. windy at the coast and the mountains we have various wind advisories as well as flash flood advisories. for the northwest corner, stormy with a mix that's going to push its way further inland with snow as well as heavy rain and ice. then we're looking for dry, cold in the north central part of the country as well as the northeast. i'm accuweather meteorologist paul williams.

nasa is looking into exactly why one of its jets went off a texas runway. the pilot aborted the takeoff at houston's ellington field after the plane's front wheels went out of control. no one was hurt. the norwegian cruise liner "escape" arrives in the bahamas today after a scary sail that saw several passengers injured. the boat was rocked by winds

estimated at 115 miles per hour. during its trip from new york to port canaveral, florida, the rocking sent furniture flying across rooms and caused plenty of broken glass. passengers said they thought the ship was tipping over. >> it was literally like we were almost walking up an incredibly steep hill to try to get to the center of the boat. >> he actually opened our door to the balcony, and he just saw a wave coming at us, and he closed it real quick, and he was like we got to get out of here. >> peopling running around, screaming blood coming down people's faces and just i mean it was truly like a scene out of the "titanic" movie. it was so scary. >> scary images, indeed. at least eight passengers were treated at hospitals. they've all been released. norwegian says the ship remained fully operational throughout the storm. another cruise ship came to the rescue after a small plane crashed in the caribbean. the u.s. coast guard and the faa asked "the regal princess" for help. the liner changed course and

sent a small boat to the site. passengers aboard the cruise ship cheered as the rescue boat returned with two people from the plane. neither was injured.in asbestos.pructs were eye shadow, compact powder and a contour pallette. claire's disputes that the fibers found were asbestos but says the products have been removed from store shelves out of, quote, an abundance of caution. and a beer described as magically ridiculous is all sold out. >> hundreds of people lined number norfolk, virginia, last week when the lucky charms flavored beer went on sale saturday morning. customers were only allowed to buy two four-packs each. the smartmouth brewing company says it's all been sold. some of the brew is being resold online at outrageous prices. authorities warn that is actually illegal. >> and magically ridiculous. ♪ magically ridiculous you got to say it that way.

surfaced ofim h allegedly having sex with an underaged girl. he was acquitted in that case after kelly denied it was him in the video and the alleged victim refused to testify. >> the past is relevant with you with underage girls. >> absolutely no, it's not. >> why? >> because for one i beat my case. when you beat something -- >> you were acquitted. >> you beat it. we can't double jeopardy like that. it's not fair. it's not fair to nobody. when you beat your case you beat your case. >> reporter: kelly has pled not guilty to ten new counts of sexual abuse and police arrested the 52-year-old last month following the lifetime docu-series "surviving r. kelly" including claims he held them against their will. >> you never held anybody -- >> how stupid with all i've been through with in my way, way past to hold somebody let alone 4, 5, 6, 50, you said. why? how stupid would i be to do that? >> i didn't say you were holding -- >> that's stupid, guys. is this camera on me? >> yes.

let's get up and get going. this is abc 7 mornings. now at 4:27, this is what you're waking up to. live doppler 7 showing the rain moving across the area right now. it's wet just about everywhere. >> we're wearing yellow today in order to match the yellow on the map. >> yeah. >> i'm glad you didn't decide to wear red or purple, that would be heavier rain. definitely got heavy rain out there. it was like driving through a river this morning. standing water everywhere as this storm impact scale of 2, moderate, is coming to fruition with the heaviest rain this morning. gusty winds, standing water throughout the morning commute. even a thunderstorm is possible. let take a look at the latest advisory. it's a wind advisory above 1,000 feet. couple reports of freese down. that could continue through 4:00 today as winds above 1,000 feet. you see in the yellow. they could gust up to 45 miles per hour.

here's a look at street level around port richmond, richmond lane heading toward richm parkway. right on the richmond-san rafael toll plaza right there. we've got moderate rain and standing water. through highway 4 or 580 from tracy or byron, livermore to pleasanton, moderate rain falling there, especially on 84. if you use that cut-through to get from livermore to the sunol grade. this is as heavy as it gets today and as widespread as it gets today. if you're stepping out, temperatures in the low to mid-50s. we'll end up in the upper 50s near 60 with thunderstorms possible this afternoon. more on that coming up. here's alexis. good morning, mike. not going to be a fun commute today. you have live doppler 7 on top of our traffic maps. as mike explained, yep, pretty much everyone is getting soaked at this point this morning. wipers will be on high. definitely a lot of standing water. road spray kicking up.

on by 9:00 this morning. be careful out there. a tree came down across the off ramp of southbound 280 at page mill and palo alto. crews had to cut up a tree to remove it. a lot of rain in the area at the time. take a look at the rain in the santa cruz mountains. it was coming down in scotts valley pretty hard. this includes highway 17. drivers dealing with a wind advisory until 4:00 this afternoon. winds at 20 to 35 miles per hour with gusts reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour at the highest peaks and ridges. i'm going to put my microphone next to the storm drain. you can see how much water is coming down. a stream here. the downpours intense here over the last hour or so. so, of course, be careful on the roads. you'll see a lot of water out there. reporting live in los altos, matt keller, abc 7 news. thanks, matt. the rain is causing cal trans to postpone work on the upper deck again. crews are
