acknowledged that, while at the same time remaining hopeful. >> here is the host of "jeopardy." >> reporter: for 35 years, alex trebek has been at the help of "jeopardy." on wednesday, he made a different sort of announcement. >> this week, i was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. >> i like the balance he struck between being hopeful and having sort of a strong spirit saying i'm going to beat this. but realistic at the same time. >> reporter: dr. andrew is an oncologist, specializing in pancreatic cancer. he's not treating alex trebek, but says the disease, which has taken the lives of patrick swayze and aretha franklin, is affecting more americans. >> based on current statistics and projections, probably in the next decade, it's going to be the leading cause of cancer related death in the united states. >> reporter: the symptoms are often nonspecific.

"abc7 news" was in guerneville where people are asking for help now. the county is providing places pour people to dump their flood debris, but they have to haul it there themselves. >> we live here, we know it floods. but you're never ready for this.

jobina? >> reporter: dan and ama, neighbors tell us that the father was screaming for help in this parking lot behind me. it appears he had returned home from just a short trip to the grocery store when he discovered the bodies of his wife and two children. wendy behar didn't know what to think as her neighbor approached her wednesday afternoon. >> he couldn't explain to me, he was just saying help me, help me. my boys are dead. >> reporter: she says she walked inside his unit, didn't see anything, but was able to understand the wife hanged herself after suffocating the sons. they then called police while she called maria flores. >> she was hysterical, very emotional, telling me our neighbor had been outside screaming, very confused that his wife and children had died. they weren't breathing. >> reporter: the community is

we have laeearned at least thre bay area residents contracted measles last month. two paerng passengers contracted the disease from a santa cruz county resident while on a plane. health officials say the public is at very low risk and so far there are no other reported cases. in the east bay tonight, a marathon bargaining session continues tonight to avoid a possible future strike in the unified school district. cornell bernard has the details on this. cornell? >> reporter: yeah, ama, contract talks now in their 14th hour here in danville. both sides are optimistic tonight that a tentative agreement can be reached. the teachers association president told the town hall meeting a tentative contract agreement was close at hand to avoid a district strike. so in your opinion, how close is

an agreement here? >> in my opinion, very close. >> reporter: both sides met behind closed doors all day wednesday for a marathon bargaining session. the education association, which represents about 1700 teachers is asking for a 5% pay increase. the district has offered 3%. 32,000 students go to school here. teachers also want smaller class sizes, and so does parent joanne chung. >> i was shocked this year, because from fifth grade, there are 31 students in the class. >> reporter: talks come just days after oakland teachers ended their seven-day strike by approving a new contract. oakland and san ramone valleys share one common thing in california, it's near the bottom nationwide when it comes to student funding. >> several school districts are facing declining enrollment and we have increased pension and health care cost and we're not getting enough money from the state to cover that.

help cope with the continuing rise in housing prices. new developments tonight in a dui case involving giants outfielder cameron maybin. he was arrested in scottsdale, arizona on friday. today, police released this video. he appears to be struggling during field sobriety test. police say he admitted to drinking five glasses of wine. the giants haven't taken any disciplinary action. maybin apologized today saying, i take full responsibility for my actions. he says he's "choosing to learn and grow from this valuable life lesson." singer r. kelly is back in custody tonight just hours after an explosive interview. they promised a comeback. sweet news for fans at a santa rosa restaurant destroyed in the tubbs fire. and celebrating july fourth on the slopes. which resort just announced it

the singer r. kelly is back in custody after mising a deadline to pay child support to his ex-wife. he was out on bond, charged with ten counts of criminal sexual abuse, three of the alleged victims are miners. his arrest comes after an interview where he got very agitated, blaming the families of the alleged victims and the media. >> how come it was okay for me

to see them until they wasn't getting no money from me? y'all trying to kill me. >> he will remain in jail until he pays back the more than $161,000 in back child support. the "abc7 news" i-team learned that a federal judge wants to prohibit pg&e from issuing dividends to investors until the utility does more to prevent wildfires. the judge has issued an order blaming deadly wildfires on the electrical system and wants pg&e to trim or remove trees and limbs so they don't fall onto power lines and spark fires. >> i am hoping for an attitude change in pg&e, because they have come back a couple of times and said, this is impossible, this is overly ambitious. >> aa court monitor will assess

the safety work. a final decision on the judge's order is expected next month. in the north bay, a beloved restaurant that burned in the 2017 tubbs fire is starting a new chapter tomorrow. sweet tea's restaurant is reopening at its new location in windsor. these are photos from the soft opening last friday. they're promising to serve the same quality southern inspired dishes, long-time guests would remember before the fires. squaw valley announced plans to stay open until at least july 7th. the resorts say they received 49 feet of snowfall since october 1st. last month, will run lifts until july fourth. >> isn't that crazy? and we're getting more weather. >> meteorologist sandhya patel

is here with the latest forecast. >> winter and summer, try that. it's going to be crazy for the skiers. let's check out live doppler 7 right now. we do have showers to talk about. we'll get you into street level radar. in the east bay, right around mccarthur showers really continue to just come up. they're light in nature, right around pacifica, ralston avenue into belmont. how much rain have we received? marin civic center, over two inches. over an inch in santa rosa, san francisco. hayward, 0.28. and about 0.75 in concord. it is snowing in the mountains. chains are required on all roads leading up to the mountains. i would not advise travel. winter storm warning is in

effect until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. additional one to two feet of snow is expected. so let it continue to snow. it's good for our water supply. i do want to show you how we're doing in terms of the snow pack. really good, 157% of average as of tonight. just last year at this time, only 37% of average. so big difference between now and last year at this time. we'll keep that snow pack building, if you will. temperatures right now in the 40s, 50s. cloud cover holding the numbers up. we had some showers today, but we also had from our santa cruz cameras, some peeks of sun. you're going to be seeing more sunshine as we head towards friday. hang in there until then, from our san mateo bridge camera, you can still see showers on the roadway. occasional showers through tomorrow. daylight saving time begins sunday morning, so set your clocks forward one hour.

a light level one tonight and tomorrow. showers less than 0.2 of an inch. so tomorrow morning, 5:00 a.m., some slippery roadways. notice just spotty returns at 8:00 a.m. not everyone is going to see the showers, and sun breaks. noontime, hang on to the umbrel umbrella. and we'll carry that theme into the afternoon and evening. isolated showers popping up tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, 40s, 50s. you will need to grab the umbrella before you go and give yourself a little extra time. the rain will keep the roads slippery. tomorrow afternoon, in the 50s with some wet roadways out there. the seven-day forecast, a level one, showers and sun for tomorrow. drying out friday, saturday, another system comes in with light rain. and don't forget, set your clocks forward one hour saturday night before bed. daylight saving time begins sunday. we will go with a chance of rain on tuesday.

department store prices every day. at ross. yes for less. a washington state driver suffered -- survived rather a close call when a piece of plywood fell off a truck smashing through her wind shield. this happened just south of seattle. the driver walked away only minor scrapes and bruises and urged all drivers to properly secure the loads they are carrying down the road. that is scary. >> very fortunate person.
