closed door testimony in washington. >> cohen shared another batch of documents with lawmakers, fbi raid last year cohen was approached by two lawyers that tried to keep him from flipping on president trump. abc's pierre thomas has the details. >> reporter: michael cohen back on capitol hill, behind closed doors with the house intelligence committee. president's former fixer, now his sworn enemy. sources tell abc news shortly after the fbi raided his office and home cohen was contacted by two attorneys that had ties to rudy guiliani, president trump's personal lawyer. sources say those attorneys wanted to encourage cohen not to abandon the president, and at the time the president was publicly sympathetic to cohen. >> they broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys. it's a disgraceful situation. >> reporter: before congress last week, cohen said he could not talk about the communications he had with the president or his team after the raid.

>> unfortunately, this topic is something that is being investigated right now by the southern district of new york and i have been asked by them not to discuss or talk about the issues. >> reporter: cohen told congress the president expected him to lie about a moscow trump tower project. >> you need to know mr. trump's personal lawyers reviewed and edited my statement to congress about the timing of the moscow trump tower negotiations before i gave it. >> reporter: the president's attorneys flatly deny it. and abc news learned cohen provided congress documents including e-mails, which he claims will show the edits made to his false statement. he said he will talk to congress as long as they have questions. >> i will continue to cooperate to the fullest extent of my capabilities. thank you for being here. >> reporter: as for those attorneys that sources say are to find out if anybody tried to influence cohen after those raids. pierre thomas, abc news, washington.
