another one that was going to get stronger. >> tonight we're learning new details about the death of a cyclist struck and killed in san francisco. hundreds turned out on howard street to form a human barrier between the bike line and cars to protest. >> reporter: this accident took place around 8:30 a.m. we're here on howard street and i want you to take a look over here. this is not a protected bike lane, something many say could have prevented this death. the details of this accident are still unclear. the coroner's office confirmed the victim is test is test is when the driver of a parked vehicle opened the door. she apparently swerved to avoid the door, placing her in the path of the truck that ran her over. >> it is unacceptable and we are calling on the city to take action, and to make the changes that are necessary to fill in

high injury network. we're certainly doing that. this is an area we're ebbs moring options to get improvements in by this year. >> reporter: five people have been killed this year in traffic-related incidents. we also spoke to district six supervisor, and he told them that they would be working on this change for april. >> is in the south bay, friends and family march for justice for an unsolved murder case from last year. 28-year-old father of two, francisco santos was fatally stabbed outside his home on raymond avenue on the morning of september 2nd. mothers against murder and the santa clara sher a $30,000 rewa for information that would help in the investigation. the suspects were last seen driving a black full size gmc or chevy pickup truck. new at 11:00, oakland unified school district is planning to lay off more than 100 employees. this follows a decision to cut millions from the budget.

to fulfill a new contract agreement to pay teachers more. a spokesman for the district says this will mean some layoffs. the move comes after a week-long strike by teachers. meanwhile, the san ramon valley unified school district and the teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a contract. the two sides have been holding marathon negotiations. the tentative deal includes a 4% salary increase, a small increase to the retirement plan and caps on class sizes. the deal is set to be presented to teachers monday and teachers will vote on the contract next tuesday through thursday. the san francisco district attorney's office is reviewing the case involving giants' ceo and his wife. she fell to the ground and he has now taken a leave of absence from the giants. i'm fully confident that the

da.'s review will result in the decision that there is no case here. new developments, "empire" actor jussie smollett is facing more than a dozen felony charges related to allegations that he lied to police about being the victim of a violent hate crime. in january he told police two men attacked him in chicago, shouting racist and homophobic slurs and placing a noose around his neck, but a couple of weeks later, police received new evidence that led them to believe smollett knew his attackers and allegedly paid them to stage the whole assault. the actor insists that he is innocent. san francisco is about to get a new influx of millionaires again. several high-tech start-ups are expected to go public this year. >> that includes airbnb, uber, slack and pte. this move could lea employeespaa that cld d using ven wre looki as part of our commitment to building a better bay area. >> that's right. leslie brinkley has been tracking down what all of this could mean.

>> reporter: people covet living here in the city by the bay. it's expensive now. very expensive. but buckle up for a ride up on the backs of these ipos. in the next year, these major tech companies like airbnb, uber, lyft and others are expected to go public, with a total market capitalization of around $200 billion and many of those employees have an equity stake in those companies. >> if all the planned or rumored ipos happen, we will see in the order of thousands of new millionaires. >> reporter: dennis specializes in data analytics and he crunched the numbers onmight ha millionaires start buying single-family homes. >> we probably50% to 100% increase in prices over the next five to ten years, specifically for single-family homes. >> in san francisco? >> in san francisco. >> that's, i mean, a hard number to even wrap our head around that prices could go up 50%.

>> yeah, unfortunately. unfortunately. >> allegedly we're going to have a bunch of thousands of newly-minted millionaires from the five to six ipos. it remains to be seen, but no one can tell me that won't affect the housing market. it certainly will. >> reporter: some sellers are even pulling their homes off the market now, intending to wait for the ipos to materialize and prices to go up with lots of buyers putting all cash on the table. >> there are so many of them happening. >> reporter: jay books a-list performers for parties and he said the ipos will bring lavish multimillion dollar parties, helping san francisco's musicians and restaurants in the process. >> there are nights you drive around san francisco and you see every restaurant or bar is packed out with some kind of party. >> reporter: it's it's going to be quite an ipo tidal wave. the real este expts said the av home buyer isn't likely to directly compete, at least right now with those ipo buyers,

in the south bay, the silicon valley car show shifts into high gear this week. hundreds of cars, trucks and suvs are on display and that includes some local talent. a group of san jose state students are showing off the vehicles they built from scratch and abc 7 reporter got a chance to jump in the driver's seat. >> reporter: slick new whips, classic cars and san jose state students are revving up innovation at the silicon valley car show. >> the product idea or intention is to build a vehicle that will serve in neighborhoods or small communities. >> reporter: this is an autonomous vehicle built by students named kiki after a viral dance challenge. so might as well try it out on the 3-d monitor. >> that is you dancing. >> reporter: we got a tour of other features, too. >> a lot of the housings are 3-d

coat or jacket. damp rain comes in. snow over the higher terrain in lake county. here is a live look from our san jose camera. you can see some clouds gathering and a look at the forecast. chilly tonight. rain arrives in the morning. scattered showers tomorrow. on our exclusive abc 7 news storm impact scale. less than an inch of rain. we are looking at breezy conditions at times. let's time it out for you. overnight night while you're sleeping, a few showers will develop. 5:00 a.m., you see the rain across the region. the briefly heavy rain is tweechb 11:00 a.m. and about 12:00. by 3:00 p.m. it becomes scattered in nature once again and those showers will continue well on into the evening hours with some higher elevation snow mixing in with the rain over places like mt. hamilton and the higher terrain up to our north. now, 7:00 a.m. sunday, you will notice still some pockets of moderate rain developing. 9:00 a.m., it's just going to

move through as the system goes into southern california. on sunday i think you'll see a little bit more sunshine as well. rainfall totals will look like this, anywhere from 3/4 to an inch for parts of the north bay to anywhere from 0.10 of an inch in fremont to 0.20 in -- afternoon hours, it's going to be touch and go, but i think they may be able to play. sunday is a better bet for the afternoon as you will notice, the little league for sunday, rain to start off the morning. it's going to be chilly. later in the day the showers become a little more spotty in nature. first thing tomorrow morning, cold and tomorrow afternoon it is going to be cool, breezy with showers, so make sure you hang on to the umbrellas. temperatures will be in the 50s. here is a look at the accuweather seven-day forecast. rain giving way to showers. another one for sunday. remember, you want to change your clocks. move them forward one hour because that's when you will
