good morning bay area. it's sunday march so10th, morning. let's get to francis. >> we have a busy morning on live doppler 7 showing us scattered showers out there now and i want to show you what's going on. we're seeing sprinkles and showers, even heavier stuff in parts of the east bay right now and you see some rain falling through the east bay, oakland, hayward into fremont across the san mateo bridge. as we zoom in, the rain has

gotten lighter right now on warm springs road in 880. so on today's storm impact scale, we are at a one. it's light. we're dealing with scattered showers. anywhere from 50 0th of as an inch to .3. not much rain expected but there is a chance of a thunderstorm. you'll see light rain as we look from our roof camera towards the bay bridge and ferry building. scattered showers throughout the morning. it dekreelcreases by lunchtime the chance of thunderstorms picks up this afternoon and this evening as this system slides south. the best chance of showers will move towards the south bay this evening, and then we have a drier pattern ahead, chris. i'll tell you about that coming up. >> francis, thank you. ethiopia airlines said all passengers on a plane that crashed overnight died. 157 people were believed to be on board including eight crew members. the plane similar to the one

that you just saw was headed to nairobi, kenya. family members are at the airport trying to get answers. the plane went down six minutes after take off from the it was a new plane delivered in nv. the cause of the crash is under investigation. this morning, we're getting our first look at body cam video worn by san jose state university police as they tased, shot and killed a man in 2014. we have the video but a warning, it might be disturbing to some. [ gunshots ]. >> get on the ground. >> shoot him! >> reporter: san jose state police released this video five years after officers shot and killed antonio lopez. >> i'm glad but mad. >> reporter: lowery valdez was lopez' common law life. they share a young son together. she wanted more than just this video clip to be released like

the dispatch tapes and body cam video from the other officers present. >> i see officers who were the perpetrato perpetrators. they were the perpetrators. antonio is the victim because antonio was not aggressive, did not do what they were saying. >> reporter: investigators, the d.a. and two federal judges say the tasing and shooting were justified after officers found lopez walking near campus with some sort of a blade. >> put that on the floor. put it on the ground right now! >> get your taser out. >> put it on the ground. >> taser, taser, taser. >> you can see lopez is tased and starts running. >> shoot him. >> reporter: the 38-year-old was shot twice in the back and died at the hospital. officers insist lopez was a threat. >> when i saw it the first time, it kind of baffled me why they found it necessary to shoot and kill him. >> reporter: now that the body

cam video is available to the public, anyone can watch it and come to their own conclusion. >> it's like still not called for to shoot him. >> you're innocent until proven gilty. >> reporter: lopez' partner says she isn't done fighting. she wants his case reopened in a special prosecutor to be assigned. bart trains are back in operation but early yesterday morning the whole system came to a screeching halt. riders showed up at stations wondering why everything was closed and were left out in the cold and looking for other transportation. abc 7 cornell bernard has the story. >> we're not running any train. >> reporter: not the news bart riders wanted to hear on a saturday mornings, no trains running anywhere, not one. mostly was trying to get to school in hayward. >> reporter: what time are you supposed to be there? >> 10. i'll probably be late. >> reporter: it was announced at

5:45 a.m. by 9:00, the gates coaled up at the station in oakland but there was only limited service availab available. no trains running between daly city and sfo. that was a huge problem for her. she worked for virgin atlantic. >> right now we're waiting for the bart bus to take us to the sfo. we're still waiting for an hour now. >> frustrating. >> frustrating. >> take a bus home there. >> reporter: many complain there weren't enough buses available. >> do you have any idea when one will come? >> not sure. >> reporter: many riders were frantic, especially those who had flights to catch. >> it doesn't matter for me, the flight five hours delayed. >> does anybody want to share a ride to the airport. >> reporter: some grabbed a taxi. >> uber. >> reporter: pabart says two of the critical computers failed overnight. >> one literally powers the train and the other tells it

they are worried there could be a mudslide. it's on hold until at least march 19th. it's expected to take a year to remove the debris. there are about 11,000 properties scheduled for cleanup, the sacramento b reports over 200 have been cleaned. last year was california's worst year for wildfires. a federal report says more than 1.8 million acres burned, which is a half million more than 2017. there were more than 8,000 fires, the largest was the complex with a pair that burn in lake and mendeceno counties. over 100 people died. the bulk of the deaths were in the campfire. time is 5:08 in the north bay people gathered to remember three people, three women killed by a gunman at the veteran's home of california. christine lobar, jennifer golick

and jennifer gonzales was killed one year ago yesterday. the gunman, a former resident was found dead after a stand off. the attack happened in the pathway home. a residential therapy program at the veteran's home. >> people wanted to come together and commemorate to remember the women, to remember the work, to think about the people who survived and to think about how important it is to continue working with these vets who are coming back from deployments with physical and mental health issues. >> the pathway home in yonkville has been closed since last year's shooting and will not reopen. take a look at this, the upper deck of the bay bridge from our south beach camera, that is an suv facing eastbound in the westbound lanes. chp officers say the driver, a woman believed to be in her 60s drove the wrong way from the harrison street off ramp in san francisco and drove a mile and a half before pulling on the shoulder. it happened around 7:00 p.m.

her suv did not hit any other vehicles. chp shut down two lanes of the freeway to remove the suv. emergency crews took the woman to the hospital for an evaluation. police in san francisco are investigating the cause of a crash that left one person with minor injuries. a car slammed into parked cars pushing one car into the garage of a building between seventh and eighth streets. harrison was closed for nearly two hours. there was only minimal damage to the garage. all right. time now is 5:10 on this saturday morning. francis, you've been keeping an eye on live doppler 7. a lot of green on the screen. >> a lot of green. it's scattered in nature so we'll see lots of scattered showers today, even a slight chance of a thunderstorm. i'll let you know how much more rain you can expect for your neighborhood and when we finally will get a break. >> francis, thanks. also ahead, a north bay girl seemed to know what she was doing when she told steph curry to make better shoes for girls.

last couple hours and you can see the counterclockwise nature and the center of the storm off the coast here. this center is going to slide south and continue to bring scattered showers throughout the day. but it will move south. so i want to show you heavier rain right now moving through parts of the east bay who got some rain heading towards 680. you'll get that in the next ten minutes, areas of yellow and orange there and we saw heavier rain moving across the bay bridge and right now through richmond and berkeley and interstate 80 and some heavier rainfall as well. light to moderate through parts of the east bay along highway 92. whipple road and fremont and newark and across the bridge. i want to take you outside where we saw those rain drops now. you can see some falling at the toll plaza. look for ponding on the roadways. temperatures are mainly in the 40s with cloud cover where a little bit milder so san francisco is 46 as well as san jose and check out this san mateo bridge, the rain passing through, traffic is light right

now. more temperatures for you-all of us mostly in the mid 40s to upper 40s. san to rta rosa 45. here is a live shot looking out towards the bay bridge. the wet roads there, the rain has died down a it will l blitt. here is the forecast today, we'll deal with scattered showers, everyone a slight chance of thunderstorms and with daylight saving time in effect, sunrise at 7:28 this morning, sunset at 7:12. and guess what? if you want a break from the rain, dry and warmer, the pattern starts tomorrow. in fact, we'll be warming up through the weekend. so next weekend a very different story. but for today, on abc 7 storm impact scale, today's storm is ranked one, a light. we'll deal with the scattered showers generally less than one-third of an inch of rain and there is that slight chance of a thunderstorm more likely to happen in the afternoon hours.

forecast animation shows some of the rain falling through the east bay and parts of the south bay and santa cruz mountains and you'll notice 8:00 still seeing scattered showers and it starts so slide south as it loops around. we'll get some lighter showers around noon and in fact some areas will be quite dry and then as this system slides farther south, we'll get one final push this evening and more of the heavier rain will fall through the south bay, gilroy and san jose and then 11:00, we're drying out with clear skies overnight into tomorrow morning. so rainfall less than one-third of an inch. some spots might not get any rain at all like santa rosa. san francisco just .5 and san jose about .1 of an inch. highs today little bit warmer with those scattered showers. temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 50s. san francisco 55. oakland 58. san jose 59 and it's going to be cool tonight with clear skies.

john bolton will appear on "this week." you can watch the full interview at 8:00 here on abc 7. there is a massive search underway in the sierra for a missing marine corps lieutenant. lieutenant matthew craft were supposed to return from a hiking and skiing trip last week. friday night search and rescue teams found his vehicle above independence in the same area where officials say his cell phone was last active. officials say winter storms have made search activities extremely difficult. lieutenant craft is based in camp pendleton. developing news now from chicago where r and b singer r. kelly is out of jail again after the child support he owed his ex-wife is paid but still faces sexual abuse charges. >> reporter: r. kelly released from jail saturday after posting $161,000 in back child support owed to his ex-wife.

>> i patrol mromise you, we'll straighten this stuff out. >> reporter: he was charged with ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse pertaining to four women including three who claim they were minors at the time of the assault. last month, kelly spent three days in jail before being released on $1 million bond but a family court judge ordering him locked up last wednesday until the child support was paid. in an explosive interview with cbs news, the embattled singer admittedly denying the sexual misconduct allegations against him. >> i didn't do this stuff. this is not me. >> have you ever had sex with under the age of 17? >> no. >> reporter: his attorney addressing questions why kelly agreed to that interview. >> he sat for an interview. he wanted to sit for that interview. he's not hiding. it doesn't help his case. it doesn't hurt his case. we are going to try this case in a courtroom. >> reporter: and now another woman has come forward accusing the singer of sexually abusing her when she was just 13 years old releasing a statement through her attorney that read in part, listening to r. kelly's

denials about what he did to under age girls like me was very hurtful. he needs to tell the truth and stop playing the victim. he was the adult and i was the child. that woman says she is willing to testify against kelly under oath. kelly due back in court on wednesday for the child support issue. his next appearance for the sexual abuse case is march 22nd. actor jussie smollett's legal team says the "empire" star is innocent after a grand jury indicted smollett on 16 felony counts for allegedly staging a hate crime attack on himself on january 29th. if found guilty, he could face serious prison time. his high-profile lawyer mark geragos said the charges areaid wrong and his client is the

immunizations. oregon has the highest percentage of religious vaccine exceptions in the country at 7.5%. 5:36 is our time. turbulence on a turkish flight injured 29 people. the flight experienced the turbulence 45 minutes before safely landing at jfk at 5:34 p.m. eastern yesterday. most of the passengers were treated inside an airport terminal. emergency crews transported four passengers to the hospital. one suffered a broken leg, the others had bumps, bruises and cuts. drivers might find their ride smoother on some of san francisco's major streets. the city is doing a pothole blitz repairing as many streets as they can. we found this crew working. this is one of the spots they are hitting. repairs are also planned on other heavily traveled streets like 19th avenue and lumbar. >> it was really battered by the last couple weeks with the
