southwest, united. they are not allowing waivers for people who want to change the flight on the plane. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> we apologize to viewers if it was a bit tough to hear her microphone. they are trying to analyze the recordings. two black boxes recovered. one rotated two times in the air before going down. he also said smoke was coming from the back of the plane. the first signs of trouble was at first during the flight's ascent. the pilot called the tower to see they were having trouble controlling the plane. >> if you're just waking up, another quick check of traffic and weather, here is mike nicco. >> widen out, vancouver, seattle, portland, down to medford and eureka. it's more moving to the east than the south.

so far we're pretty quiet this morning with clear skies and temperatures not quite as cool as they were yesterday but you still need a jacket. we're going to be upper 30s to 40s at 7:00. the dry cold front comes through around the lunch hour. you'll notice the breezes will pick up in the afternoon hours of that will cap our temperatures mid to upper 50s at 4:00, low- to mid-50s still kind of breezy at 7:00. we'll take a look and see if those 70s are still in the forecast. here is alexis. >> mike, a few more details into chp on the situation in tracie. maybe not a pothole. some paving work wrapped up at 4:00 this morning around san joaquin and alameda county line. right now that 205 and 580 interchange and multiple people are calling into chp saying seems like a pothole or seems like paving wasn't finished correctly. there's a big rut in the roadway. chp is heading to the scene. we're going to definitely keep an eye on this. that could be an issue if they

have to close lanes, maybe redo ba paving work or figure on the a fix. i'll have more details. driving time not terrible out of tracie. it's in recovery for the paving work. westbound 580 tracy to dublin down to 35 minutes. that's improving. southbound 680 dub lip to mission lcd in the greenspan at 15. northbound 85 between 101 and cupertino you're in the green at about 16 minutes. >> thank you, alexis. a man who drove all the way from maine to california is in jail for making threats against google. mountain view police said kyle long wanted to confront google after his youtube channel was shut down. here are the details. >> reporter: 33-year-old kyle long was determined to make his way from his home but there was a hiccup. got into a car crash, vandalized a gas station bathroom and shared information with the

highway talkiupthogle a ytube u got down his youtube channel. >> reporter: later in the weekend, police had a red flag. >> he was on the way to google. if things didn't go as planned he would harm. >> reporter: they notified google campuses. they spotted long near the exit. the street is just up the road from google's headquarters. officers found baseball bats and directions how to get to mountain view in long's car as they arrested them. >> i didn't know about this, you kn know. i don't know, you need to find a better way to let the co-workers and employees this happened. >> he works in the cafe at google. he and many other employees we into to didn't know. the story has some eerie similarities to last year when a

disgruntled worker started shooting at a san bruno office. >> it's crazy when you think about it. >> the difference is in long's case they knew what to expect. >> reporter: he's held on $25,000 bail and so far google has not responded to our request for comment. reporting in san jose, abc 7 news. happening today representatives for google and intel will testify on capitol hill about privacy policies. they want to know about the privacy control both companies offer users. it will impact innovation. happening today closing arguments heard in monsanto and weedkiller roundup. he said he developed non-hodgkins lymphoma after decades of using it on his property. monsanto denies it causes

cancer. there may be a mistrial. last year a vallejo man wasn't a $289 million judge. the judge reduced it to $79 million. monsanto is appealing the verdict. a vandal slashed car tires in noe valley around cesar chavez and castro street early yesterday morning. police say 18 tires were ruined. victims were left trying to figure out how to get to work. >> super frustrating. it's a monday morning. it's obviously the worst time to have that happen. it's just, you know, there's an epidemic of property crimes in the city. >> police search the area for more vandalism and they are checking surveillance videos in the area. let's take a look at what's going on with your temperatures. it is pretty mild in some parts of the peninsula. we've got 49 in daly city and then 50 everywhere else until

you get to redwood city, menlo park 48. definitely cold air drainage out of the peninsula. you can see palo alto 39, 43 in san jose. mid-40s up and down the east bayshore into concord, 41 san ramon, 39 right now in napa. here is a look at your commute. it's dry once again. how about that. it's calm right now. if you're on our bridges, no worries. but by the afternoon hours it's going to be quite breezy across east-west bridges. if you're going to be taking mass transit, brisk this afternoon. if you're on the bay, it's going to be choppy after the noonhour. here is a look at the east bay, 45, 54, total sunshine and lower 60s to mid-50s. as far as the south bay goes you can see we've got a few more hours of cloud cover and temperatures hitting upper 50s say 2:00 to 4:00. our last stop will be san francisco where we've got temperatures. i'll start at 50.

a few clouds between 10:00 and noon as the cold front comes through. full on sunshine and breezy and mid-50s. lets talk about what's going on with the commute. here is alexis. >> overall we're doing okay. we have a couple of issues to talk about already. taking a look at our maps we have a lot of green thankfully heading northbound southbound 101 past rodeo avenue. actually reports of a small slide overnight. just before 1:00 this morning. sounds like they got most of that picked up. actually as i'm looking at the chp board, it looks like it just cleared a moment ago. there was a little debris in the roadway. caltrans came through. i believe they had to get a street sweeper. didn't see the back-up, looks like we won't have a back-up. looks like they are done through the stretch. live look outside emeryville, westbound 880. things are starting to fill in but so far that is it this morning. >> thank you, alexis. a fremont family is upset after a doctor delivers tragic news by

bts released its second chart topping album seven months ago. the group created a frenzy when they performed at oracle arena. they are returning for a stadium tour in may. so far the closest they are coming to the bay area is pasadena down in southern california. >> all right. let's talk about what's going on a little bit farther north up in mendocino county, a frost advisory at 10:00 for temperatures in the low- to mid-30s. hopefully pets are in and you protected the plants. winds are quiet but they are going to start to pick up around 7:00. look where we get at noon. we're gusting 25 to 35 miles an hour. there's going to be a definite change when you step outside for the lunch hour. also when you're driving this evening across our east-west bridges, look at these gusts. 27 to nearly 40 miles per hour. that's the rush of cooler, dryer air that will bring us a cool night tonight in our valleys. it will still be breezy up in our hills.
