when it comes to so,type 2 diabetes,.. are you thinking about your heart? well, i'm managing my a1c, so i should be all set. right. actually, you're still at risk for a fatal heart attack or stroke. even if i'm taking heart medine, like statins or blood thinners? yep! that's why i asked my doctor what else i could do... she told me about jardiance. that's right. jardiance significantly reduces the risk of dying from a cardiovascular event for adults who have type 2 diabetes and heart disease. that's why the american diabetes association recommends the active ingredient in jardiance. and it lowers a1c? yeah- with diet and exercise. jardiance can cause serious side effects including dehydration. this may cause you to feel dizzy, faint, or lightheaded, or weak upon standing. ketoacidosis is a serious side effect that may be fatal. symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, and trouble breathing. a rare, but life-threatening, bacterial infection in the skin of the genital area could also occur. stop taking jardiance and call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of this bacterial infection, ketoacidosis, or an allergic reaction.
8:43 am
symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, swelling, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. do not take jardiance if you are on dialysis or have severe kidney problems. other side effects are sudden kidney problems, genital yeast infections, increased bad cholesterol, and urinary tract infections, which may be serious. taking jardiance with a sulfonylurea or insulin may cause low blood sugar. tell your doctor about all the medicines you take and if you have any medical conditions. so, what do you think? now i feel i can do more to go beyond lowering a1c. ask your doctor about jardiance today. nearing the end of era in sports, the warriors have only six more regular season game left at oracle arena.

i'm larry beil. all right. so it was a dark and rainy friday, but lisa argen is here with our saturday forecast, which i'm thinking is filled with a little more sunshine. >> that's right, bringing on the sun for you today. good morning, everyone. a live look outside san francisco where you can see it is a little bit hazy. boy, we picked up about a half inch of rain from yesterday to today. and we are looking at a dry saturday, a dry sunday until about 9:00. so early morning risers, this bodes well for the marathon. you'll be running and running in oakland where temperatures will be very comfortable in the 40s to start out, then mid-50s. keep on going, temperatures near 60 degrees by noon time. so if you want to wash the car, i would hold off because we do have more rain in the forecast. some surfers out there enjoying the swell in santa cruz where it is cloudy, temperatures in the low 60s with sun coming out
8:48 am
later on. and from live doppler 7, the front quickly moved through while you were sleeping, up to a half inch on the peninsula and parts of the south bay a third to 0.4 of an inch. so here's the first system, the system that is clearing out of our area. you'll see the sunshine there throughout most of the bay area. a nice break over the weekend. and then sunday night this is what's headed our way. another system that's going to bring at least a half inch of rain right on through tuesday and then there's another one after that. 32 degrees in the sierra nevada. it is still snowing in spots and that's why the national weather service has our winter weather advisory until 5:00 tonight. 2 to 4 inches of snow. up to 8 inches over the highest peaks so slick out there. even though our rain has ended, it's wet out there so slick roadways locally. sfo, nice and sunny. it is 51 in san francisco, 53 in mountain view, 52 in san jose and san rafael right now with

some sunshine. 46 santa rosa, 51 in vacaville. concord is 53, a little fog in spots. you can see that from our east bay hills camera, there will be fog tonight as well. at least the mid and high-level clouds have departed with the cold front. a few lingering clouds not out of the question today. more clouds increase tomorrow and the next storm system arrives late sunday into your monday mornin commute. so enjoy today, upper 50s at the coast from half moon bay, pacifica, san francisco. 60 in san rafael. 61 in livermore. tonight overnight lows in some of the areas without the clouds in the 30s, a little fog. mid-40s oakland, san mateo. fast forward to monday morning. i know you want to enjoy the weekend, right, but it's going to be a rainy start for you. plan on giving yourself extra time early monday. monday afternoon is dry. then here comes the next system, it's tuesday night. that sets up a wet wednesday morning. then that moves out an then

we're dry it looks like for the rest of thursday. but amounts with that first system on monday throughout the day will bring us anywhere from a 10th of an inch to half inch to 0.6 in spots. it's a decent one. the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring the sun today and you download our accuweather app and keep track of the milder temperatures around the bay and inland, cool on the coast, 1 on our storm impact scale monday. actually two systems spreading over a four-day period. that's why you want to download the app so you can make sense of where it's raining in your neighborhood or where your destination may be. >> thanks so much, lisa. we'll keep those umbrellas out. all right, we have some developing news. airport officials are investigating a security incident at san francisco international airport this morning. you can see this video posted on twitter. a san francisco airport spokesperson says three checkpoints leading to terminal three were closed for about 45 minutes. officials say a passenger left the checkpoint without getting

rid of a prohibited item. they eventually found that person and that item was apparently several rounds of ammunition in his carry-on luggage. tsa and law enforcement are interviewing that passenger right now. now to a fresno state professor who has more than a million followers on instagram. he has no pictures of pretty people, places or food. instead it's all physics experiments. take a look. >> somebody started following me. suddenly i got a big spike in followers. it was elon musk. he since deleted his instagram accounts. that's kind of sad. fun is in the title, physics fun. i put the two words together because usually people don't associate those two words together, but i want them to. i want them to realize physics is amazing. the tag line is physics is the real magic of the universe. i had a few things posted. i woke up one day and there was like 4,000 people following me. i thought that was interesting. i started to post a little more often.
8:52 am
suddenly i had 20,000 followers. then i started posting on a daily basis. there's enough people that feel passionate as i do that i have a million people that decided to follow me. i wouldn't have guessed that. this is a coil of wire and the coil is hooked up to some l.e.d.s. if i spin this rapidly, you see that it generates electricity. if you can spin this thing on its side, it will actually flip up. if i spin it -- some of the comments are i didn't know this was physics. or physics really is fun. or just people are surprised. i've even had people write me and say they started their own collection of these kind of things. it's really rewarding just to see the response. it kind of looks -- if i turn it around here it will always hop up onto its stem like so. strange physics interacting with the tabletop. everything i post, i want them to see something that they might not have seen before and realize this is part of our natural

world. you'll see here i look smarter every day, i just made a post, that's kind of fun. if i look to my likes, it will update. so most people if i just swipe, you'll see here's three more likes and a follow just happened. if i swipe again, four more likes just happened. i spend a lot of time in here with the students. my favorite thing is when an engineering major decides to become a physics major. they just find the material so amazing they change their life and go for a different career path. we have a leaf blower where we blow like a beach ball and it stays suspended in air. i set it back on the table, it's still winding down. as i'm walking over to look at my notes again, it fell over and blew all my notes into this big cloud of notes like feathers being blown all over the room.
8:54 am
so the students went crazy on that one. i'm almost thinking of doing it on purpose in the future. i guess my main thrust is i want my videos to speak for themselves. i want the science to be first and foremost. over a million people have joined me to look at most of my collection. it's like my museum is now online and i've -- probably more people have looked at my objects than i ever could have expected. a great use of social media, and there is more of that where that came from. you can check out and's new brand at localish.com which is also on facebook and instagram. next, did you get your tickets yet? the huge power jackpot tonight
