daily news" this morning, calling the president teflon don. >> mona kosar abdi has more from washington. >> reporter: good morning, stephanie. good morning, kenneth. the conclusions of the mueller report have become as divisive as the investigation i it's also become the basis of a new political battle here in washington. >> this was an illegal takedown that failed. >> reporter: moments before trump departed florida sunday, attorney general william barr september a four-page letter to congress outlining the conclusions of robert mueller's investigation. barr writing that after 2 the months, quote, the special counsel's investigation did not find that the trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with russia in its efforts to influps the 2016 u.s. presidential election. >> it's a shame that our country

had to go through this. >> reporter: barr also notes mueller's report falls short of absolving the president. going on to say, while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him. yet, president trump who has declared the probe a witch hunt for the last two years, is now saying complete victory. >> so it's complete exoneration. no collusion, no obstruction. >> reporter: democrats are demanding barr release the full report. >> i sbepd to fight for that transparency. we'll ask the attorney general to testify before the house judiciary committee. >> reporter: and house judiciary charm jerry nadler has said he'll take it to the supreme court. aing in part, quote,

barr's potential bias -- he'll sit down with rod rosen stein and mueller himself to see how much of this report he can make public. that process can take days, if not weeks. given all that classified information that's in the report. >> both house republicans and democrats voted overwhelmingly to make the mueller report public. so we'll see what happens. the pressure is on, mona, thank you. and the claim from democrats that attorney general william barr has a record of bias is based on a memo last year. >> barr wrote that it was within the president's power to fire fbi director james comey. legal analyst dan abrams explains why mueller may have opted out of deciding whether the president obstructed

justice. >> he determined to not make a traditional prosecutorial judgment here. i interpret that to mean that president trump is immune from prosecution because he's the president. attorney general barr and rosenstein said in part because there was no collusion, no conspiracy, it makes the obstruction case harder. there will be questions about whether the attorney general should have been weighing in is because the whole reason you retain a special counsel is because of potential concerns about an attorney general. >> barr says his decision on obstruction has to do with the evidence uncovered. former fbi director james comey tweeted this reaction to the report. a picture of himself in a forest looking up at the trees with the caption, so many questions. we do have a lot of questions this horng. our coverage of the mueller report continues at 7:00 a.m. on "good morning america."

mourning. for the second time in a week, a shooting survivor has died from apparent suicide. diane macedo has more. >> reporter: a second student from marjory stoneman douglas high school has died in an apparent suicide. >> this is heartbreaking. it's hard enough to lose the 17. it adds to the heart break this community has already suffered. >> reporter: police say the student was found dead less than a week after sidney a ix ello exited suicide. she lost several friends last year. sh students and three adults were killed. aiello's mother says her daughter struggled with survivor's guilt and ptsd. >> so for people who developed ptsd going back to that school could be a major trigger. >> reporter: the second suicide victim was a male sophomore. and his dth has expected gravely concerned. >> if a terrible event occurs and you're struggling or you

sky cruise ship. sending it lurching violently to the side. furniture and passengers shieding helplessly across the room. part of the ceiling crashing down. and frind seawater rushed in. >> water came bursting through that door. we have water all over the ground. >> reporter: the rough seas nearly running the ship aground. >> it's just very frightening because you lose all sense of control and ability to save yourself. >> reporter: more than into 0 passengers and crew stranded off the coast of norway. many spending the night in life jackets. some sleeping in stairways, awaiting their turn for rescue. nearly 50 on passengers including the injured, elderly, and disabled were eventually air-lifted off the ship. while the nearly 90 on remaining people on board waited until the boat was toud back to land. about to people were injured. the ship came dangerously close

to hitting the rocky shore. it's unclear what caused the engine failure. the company is making arrangements today to get those passenger back home. rapper dr. dre is facing backlash after bragging about his daughter's acceptance to college. he posted a picture with his daughter's acceptance letter. it included the caption, my daughter got accepted into usc all on her own. no jail time. that's an apparent reference to the celebrity parents in the ongoing bribery case. this article mentions a $70 million donation to the school from dr. dre and music producer jimmy iovine. dre has since deleted the post. in the meantime, the first wave of defen dapts in that college bribery scandal face a judge in boston. 2 is the people with due in court. some news for parents of young kid this is morning.

we came across the golden gate bridge. four lanes in the southbound direction. the zipper truck was moving its way two lanes in the northbound direction. no fog to speak of over the waldo grade. san mateo bridge is looking good. a 14-minute drive towards 101. couple of problem spots, 101, we have an accident two left lanes blocked. this is northbund before university. you can see slow traffic there approaching highway 84. left lanes, again, stay out of those lanes. stay right. >> thank you, sue. breaking news now from walnut creek. where police are investigating a robbery and shooting in the downtown area. according to placer.com, a man was robbed of his watch and shot at at mt. diablo boulevard and south main street. the robber also shot the victim. he was taken to a nearby hospital. police have canvassed the scene for evidence.
