program for r.v. owners, which would include permitting and a registration system. live in berkely >> thank you thak you thank y. in the south bay, a measles alert for those in santa clara county. an infected tourist made several stops across the region and may have exposed shoppers, diners and other visitors to the highly contagious viral infection. abc 7 news reporter amanda castillio is live with the details. >> reporter: the tourist had a busy six days. they made 20 stops across santa clara county, including right here at the macey's at fair mall. an infected tourist made 20 stops across the south bay in just six days.

commissioner's decision and appreciate the fair and thorough process taken by mlb and the giants. i made a serious mistake that i sincerely regret. chicago prosecutors are dropping all charges against jussie smollett. the city's mayor and police chief are angry over the decision. >> reporter: jussie smollett's record will be wiped clean. the 16 felony charges against the "empire" actor dropped. >> not for a moment was it in vain. i've been truthful and consistent on every level since day one. >> reporter: that deal blind siding and angering the mayor and top cop, who stand by the investigation. >> do i think justice was served? no. what do i think justice is? i think this city is owed an apology. >> this is a whitewash of justice. at the end of the day, it was mr. smollett that convi convic i false claim.

>> reporter: back in january, smollett told police two men attacked him using racial and homophobic slurs and putting a noose around his neck. after investigating, police say smollett orchestrated the attack, insisting they had enough evidence that smollett lied, including the testimony of these two brothers that say he paid them by check. >> mr. smollett is still saying he is innocent. is there no decency in this man? >> reporter: tuesday, prosecutors acknowledging they don't believe his story, saying they dropped the charges to focus on violent crime. >> this is not an exoneration. to say he was exonerated by us or anyone else, is not true. >> reporter: under the deal, smollett did 16 hours of community service. and he forfeited his $10,000 bond. the fbi is still investigating. d coming up, a first of its

in the east bay, thousands of people can expect to get a text alert about an earthquake as part of a test. oakland will test earthquake early warning technology with people in a 60-square-block area of lake merit. a test to see how long it takes to get the alert delivered to us, once the data is sent to state officials. studies show that can give people at least five seconds notice. >> once the earthquake alert is

potential is there for thunderstorms with some hail going right on through noontime. if i were you, i would try to keep the lunch inside. and as we go to 2:00 p.m., some heavy rainfall. some of the thunderstorms could turn severe in the south bay and the east bay. we'll keep an eye for you. mike nicco is here at 4:30 to 7:00 a.m., tracking this system. 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, scattered showers. we'll keep the theme going. but isolated at best, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 at night. in terms of rainfall totals, where you see a thunderstorm develop, could see 8/10 of an inch of rain. as you look at your temperatures, first thing in the morning, 40s, 50s, allow that extra time for that morning commute. then, for the afternoon, if you don't have to go out, avoid certain areas like the south bay and the east bay, where we see thunderstorms developing. it will be a cooler day. 50ed as and 60s.
