we have light rain or steadier light rain across the north bay. rain moving across the golden gate bridge. it's definitely wet. showers and thunderstorms from 7:00 to noon. they are going to pick up in intensity and coverage from now through that time. they'll move to the east. so a lingering chance at 4:00. by 7:00 it's gone. temperatures today in the low to mid-50s. alexis? >> definitely have breezy conditions out there. we have a high-wind advisory for the benicia bridge and dumbarton bridge. i'm a little surprised that we don't have one for the bay bridge and maybe a few others. that's the one i drove across and it was quite breezy. southbound 101 before cesar chavez. we had a backup a moment ago. we have a two-car collision. they're trying to push that off to the shoulder. that could be slowing you down out of san francisco. a quick check of drive time. we had a mysterious traffic

break in both directions through emeryville. that has cleared then. the backup not too bad. ten minutes across the bay bridge. san francisco to sfo, you're still in the green at ten minutes. thanks, alexis. developing now, a measles alert in santa clara county. a tourist with a contagious infection made several stops in the area and may have exposed shoppers, diners and other people in the seven cities on the map. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is live in santa clara. jobina? >> reporter: good morning, jessica and reggie. yes. this infected tourist made it in six days, 20 stops across the south bay. i tried to pull up some on the map. you can see the locations here. we're looking at the apple visitor park in cupertino. an ihop in the center of san jose, hoover conservation tower deck at stanford.

as well as the macy's behind me here at the mall. want to point that out here. county officials want to make it clear, the majority of people are vaccinated protecting them against virus. this is still a highly contagious transmitted from person to person through the air. babies are most at risk. this is not a public health emergency according to county officials. >> this person traveled to many different locations in the county during the infectious period. the time that the person was at each location was not very long. but there were numerous locations. >> reporter: some symptoms include a fever, runny nose, red eyes, cough and full body rash. jobina fortson, abc 7 news. jobina, thank you. on that note, a new york county dealing with a measles outbreak banned nonvaccinated kids from gathering in public spaces. this just went into effect at

midnight. more than 150 confirmed measles cases in rockland county right now. public spaces are defined at a space where more than ten people would gather. religious functions, shopping centers, restaurants. >> measles -- those days are over. every new case is a roll of the dice that could bring on pneumonia, encephalitis, a swelling of the brain. >> the ban is in effect for 30 days or until nonvaccinated children get the mmr shot. parents who violate this could face six months in jail or a $500 fine. you can find out more at abc7news.com or download the abc 7 news app. you get alerts on your phone. officials called off the search for someone reported missing in pacifica. tyler collins was last seen around 3:30 yesterday morning. he was staying with friends at a hotel in pacifica when two of them decided to go swimming. this was the scene as police, firefighters and the u.s. coast

guard looked for him near rock aw away beach. they searched more than 60 square miles in 15 hours yesterday. they called off the search just before 8:00 last night. in san francisco, the future of a newly revitalized community center is in jeopardy after a deadly shooting over the weekend. a 25-year-old man was killed. police arrested two people. it happened outside the fill more heritage center. according to the -- they've canceled events through the end of the month in response to the shooting. officials are trying to figure out nix steps. the center has only been open since november. santa clara county officials want to make it easier to notify the feds when an undocumented immigrant who is a violent felon is about to be released from jail. the police chiefs association proposed the change. i.c.e. wants to be notified when

a release happens. santa clara county policy prohibits it right now. the county policy is stricter than the state sanctuary law sb-54. that does allow notification to i.c.e. >> there's got to be a reasonable way to notify and facilitation all within the confines of sp-54 enabling us to keep our community safe. >> the proposed changes follow the murder of bambi larson. she was killed in her san jose home. the suspect is in the u.s. illegally and has a long criminal record. i.c.e. sent six civil detainer requests to the county. in chicago, the police chief and mayor are furious about the decision to drop charges against actor jussie smollett. the twist created a firestorm of controversy. the "empire" actor was accused of being the target of a racist and homophobic attack. his slate will be wiped clean

and 16 felony charges against him will be dropped. he's a santa rosa native. he's going to do 16 hours of community service and forfeit his bond. chicago mayor rahm emanuel is on gma this morning. >> state's attorney office saying he's not exonerated. he did commit this hoax. he's saying his innocent and the boards are true. they better get the stories straight. it's making fools of all of us. >> as the mayor just alluded to, prosecutors say they still don't believe his story. but decided to drop the charges to, instead, focus on violent crime. new this morning, closing the gender pay gap. equal payday is next tuesday. now new research shows some of the top industries with the biggest discrepancies in pay. the mill valley-based job site glass door reviewed more than 425,000 salaries for its study. it found on average men earn about 21% more than women.

this represents a 2.7 percentage point shrinkage in the pay gap years ago. it will be 2070 before it's completely eliminated. that's a long way to go. take a look at the top five industries with the biggest pay gaps. they include media, retail, construction, repair and maintenance, oil, gas energy and utilities and insurance. an estimated $750 million is on the line in tonight's powerball drawing. it's such a huge number. >> you can see that huge jackpot at the top right of the powerball website right now. the jackpot has been rolling over since december, so now it is the fourth largest in u.s. history. the cash option, just over $465 million. the drawing is set for 8:00 tonight. >> i can think of a lot of things i'd do with 750 million bucks. all right. i'll see you tomorrow. >> exactly. good morning.

in contempt for violating a settlement deal that restricts his social media postings. the commission accuses musk of violating the deal in february 19th. that inaccurately revealed the number of cars tesla is expected to make. musk is supposed to get pre approval for the tweets. he's argued it's a breach of his rights to free speech. new this morning those boarding the napa wine train will be stepping into a prohibition area. a passenger is bumped off and other passengers are encouraged to wear their best 1920s garb. they must try to identify the culprit before he or she escapes. a boarding pass cost $216. it includes a three-course meal on the three-hour ride and a maiden voyage takes off april 13th. that sounds pretty fun. tickets to outsideland go on sale tomorrow.

for the bay bridge, dumbarton and benicia bridge. both hands on the wheel. i don't have a high-profile vehicle and my car was rocking when i crossed that bridge today. a tough day yesterday. today is looking great though with mass transit. no delays for vta. breaking news in the east bay where a house fire broke out in concord leaving a woman hurt. this happened near st. francis drive. the call came in at 2:40 a.m. firefighters could see smoke at least two blocks away from the fire. when they arrived, that house was fully involved. they also heard the sound of an explosion. the cause of the fire still under investigation and we're waiting on an update regarding the victim's condition. in the east bay, two people are in custody following this accident. it started as a police chase in oakland. it ended with a crash at 79th avenue and -- the car ended up stuck in a tree. officers arrested two people

inside the vehicle. it is unclear why police were trying to stop the car in the first place. no one was seriously hurt. >> new this morning, two small earthquakes shook parts of the north bay overnight. the magnitude 2.6 and 2.7 quakes hit within 23 seconds of each other at 4:27 this morning. they were both centered in the middle of san pablo bay or six miles east of black point and marin county. speaking of that, happening today, thousands of people in the east bay can expect to get a text alert about an earthquake. don't worry, it's not real. it's part of an early warning system test. amy hollyfield is live for us at oakland city hall with more. amy? >> reporter: hi, jessica. the alert will come here on your phone it will be a text message and officials really want you to notice what time it arrives. be sure and look at the clock right when that text comes in. officials do think that this could save lives. the next time there is a major

that they can ohm afford to live in rvs will be banned from parking them on the streets overnight. the city council approved the ban after a tense meeting with residents and rv dwellers last night. the city manager's office tells abc 7 news it will have to come up with specific rules to implement the new law before it's enforced. many rv dwellers have been parking on 8th street near harrison for the past year. they feel they're being pushed out by people in the area. >> i'm trying to pay back my credit cards and student loans. that's why i live in an rv to pay back my debt to society. >> we have human feces in our dumpster, our students have been threatened. students don't feel safe going to their cars at night. >> council members say the city will work to find locations for the rvs and provide them with homeless services. we invite you to share your

more than 200 airline pillos and others -- how to put the 737 max 7 back into service. a software update to fix an issue with an automatic safety feature that's blamed for a crash with the max jet and also suspected in another recent crash. the faa still has to approve the upgrade. in an unrelated incident, 737 max 8, i should say, that was being moved to california yesterday had to make an emergency landing in orlando, florida. the airline says that there was a problem with an engine. valero is feeling a spike in gas prices. the plant released excess emissions over the weekend that prompted a health alert and forced parts of the plant to temporarily shut down. aaa says prices in california have gone up by $.15 in one week. it's expected to last a week or longer. here's a look at live

for the east bay, we've got a chance of rain starting around 8:00, 9:00. thunderstorms, you can see at 11:00 to 1:00. increasing sunshine late this afternoon, as temperatures drop from the mid-60s to the low 60s. san francisco, we've got a chance of drizzle now and then rain by 8:00 and then you can see thunderstorms from 10:00, 12:00 and then they move east fl we'll see a little sunshine and hold the temperatures around 60 degrees this afternoon. very mild this morning. it's going to lead to the thunderstorms. i'll show you an hour by hour look at that coming up. slick spots out there. seeing any issues? >> yes. one new crash in the east bay here. the first of the morning, as far as significant issues, not had many crashes so far today. westbound 24 before fish ranch road. three, four vehicles involved here. i believe just the far left lane and the right shoulder are blocked. we possibly could have a second left lane blocked as well. we're waiting for chp to give us an update. the solid line ored caldecott .
