new wok fired shrimp, another american chinese creation from panda express. tonight more than a dozen residents of a homeless camp in santa clara county are searching for a new place to live. good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm eric thomas. 17 people live at hope village in san jose. it may not sound like many people but supporters say it was making a positive dent in a bigger issue, homelessness. just one of the subjects we're tackling here at abc 7. according to the last point in time census in 2017, there were 4,350 homeless individual in the

city. of those, only 26% had shelter. abc 7 news reporter lisa joinsns us live in the newsroom. >> the tent city residents had become a family of sorts but as of 1:00 tomorrow they'll have to be out. tnight lots of last minute packing. imagine packing everything you own in a hurry from the only place that's felt like home in years. >> we're all pretty sad. i'm thankful we have a place to go for now and a lot of us are together. >> this is the reason the tent city is forced to close. the faa sent san jose a letter saying this area is unfit for residential use because of the airplane noise. the city promised ed td to loo another lot for the village. but they have not been able to secure land to relocate it. the camp has given the residents moment vouchers for 30 days.

>> the city and the county never followed through on their commitment to find another location. we are convinced that the staff did that deliberately. >> while many are angry about the situation, others admit they're scared. >> he saved me, you know? i don't know where i'm going to be next. i'm not a strong street person. >> aside from this place being locked and secure, this were amenities they'd gotten used to it. over here there were showers. there was also a kitchen and over here there was regular trash pickup. now it's time move to one of the two moments the city is offering for temporary housing. >> it's nice being in a moment but that was home. >> after the 30 days at the moment are up, just about everyone that once lived in the tent city expect to return to the streets.

from prison. the child found a gun under a bed wednesday and accidentally shot himself. bystanders helped save the lives of three swimmers this afternoon off pacifica state beach. surfers saw the trio struggling and paddled up to them and helped them get back to the beach. all three were conscious and alert in the ambulance. if you were outside today and this afternoon, it was very sunny blue skies, just a few clouds out there. is that going to last? >> we're certainly wrapping up a beautiful start to the weekend. made it well into the 60s and 70s earlier today and tonight. it's gorgeous out there. life lo it's calm out there. temperature in the 50s. let's get you into tomorrow. tomorrow morning if you're out early, temperatures starting out

a controversial film about abor abortion is causing a lot of conversation. the film is based on a former planned parenthood clinic director who now opposes abortions. >> reporter: it's a story of abby johnson the youngest planned parenthood director who having seeing an ultrasound of an abortion resigned in 2009. >> that was when i really saw for the first time this living human being inside of the womb and seeing that baby fight and struggle for his life. >> johnson hopes her story helps other women. >> i just thought, well, i have another opportunity here to help facilitate healing for those who have been possibly hurt or touched by abortion in some way. >> in redwood city some movie-goers said the movie was

so graphic. >> it was quiet. it's a pretty serious movie. it's not happy. the first part is very bloody. >> some who supportwomen's right to choose said the movie would not change their mind. >> well, i feel that a woman should have the right to choose what happens to her body. >> one group pro-life san francisco hopes this film starts conversations from both side. >> and understand the really poufl reas powerful reasons behind why somebody would feel my body, my choice. >> the controversy was seen on social media earlier today. the film's twitter account was suspended. twitter later explained the reason why was because it was linked to another account that violated its policies. in a statement about the film, planned parenthood said the claims in this film are simply false. planned parenthood is proud to provide expert, high quality health care to our patients including safe, legal abortion

in a safe and compassionate environment. the archdiocese of san francisco also posted on facebook about the film. they included points from the catholic bishops and pointed out they do not promote or endorse films. they post continued saying the film may create opportunities to highlight the proclamation of the gospel of life in your diocese. the debate over abortion is playing out currently in many state houses nationwide. a woman's right to abortion in all 50 states was legalized with roe versus wade back in 1973. many states have or are in the process of passing their own laws that place limits on abortion. yesterday georgia lawmakers pass add bill that bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected which can be as early as six weeks into the progress
