disqualifying issues. >> meanwhile, overnight, the president's son-in-law and senior adviser jared kushner addressed the controversy during a new interview. abc's serena marshall has the latest from washington. serena, good morning. >> reporter: kenneth, janai, good morning. the white house has faced mounting questions over security clearances for months including dozens of administration officials who were working with a temporary clearance well into 2018. the search for answers over white house security clearances intensifying. democrats preparing to use their power of the subpoena today after a whistle-blower told congress senior trump administration officials granted security clearances to at least 25 applications which had been denied and warning it could impact national security. tricia newbold, an 18-year veteran of the personnel security office, told congress the denials were for reasons including foreign influence, conflicts of interesting concerning personal conduct, financial problems, drug use and criminal conduct. democrats claim this situation a million times worse than security concerns over the clinton email server.

>> you've got all the secrets going to people who shouldn't even have a security clearance possibly. >> reporter: at least two of those individuals, newbold claims, were very senior white house officials and while she mentions no one by name, one of those appears to be the president's son-in-law jared kushner who "the new york times" reported the president ordered his chief of staff to grant a top secret clearance to against the recommendation of intelligence officials, something the president denies. >> no, i don't think i have the authority to do that. i'm not sure i do, but i wouldn't -- i wouldn't do it. >> reporter: overnight kushner fighting back telling fox news. >> i've been accused of all different types of things and all those things have turned out to be false. we've had a lot of crazy accusations like that we colluded with russia. i complied with all the different investigations, whether it be the senate, the house, the special counsel. i sat for nearly 20 hours of interviews with them. >> reporter: republicans on the committee say this isn't about security clearance but a fishing expedition and are claiming democrats are cherry-picking the

details. newbold's lawyer however says it's republicans that are doing the cherry-picking. kenneth, janai. >> serena marshall, we will see what is coming next. president trump is considering the appointment of a so-called immigration czar who would coordinate policy across several agencies and the president is still threateninging to shut down the entire southern border as early as this week. a move that could jeopardize billions in trade and millions of american jobs. the mayor of el paso told abc's matt gutman closing the border would take a heavy toll on his city. >> it's critical to the city of el paso, and it's critical to texas, and it's critical to the nation. it would be harmful all the way around. >> reporter: how harmful? >> we have $103 billion of annualized trade and 6 of the 28 bridges pass through el paso. >> reporter: is that $103 billion just in el paso? >> just in el paso that go through our ports on an annualized basis. >> president trump threatened to

keep it close for a long time unless mexico does more to stop central american migrants. more than 100,000 migrants were stopped at the border last month. a second woman is now accusing former vice president joe biden of inappropriate behavior saying he was disrespectful of her personal boundaries. as biden faces fallout over a complaint from an embattled democrat former congressional aide amy lappos came forward to say biden rubbed noses with her at a fund-raiser in connecticut and describes it as weird and uncomfortable. >> and then he reached over and put his hands behind my head and pulled me close, and i thought, he's going to kiss me. you know, it wasn't sexual, i don't think. but it was incredibly uncomfortable. >> biden is still deciding whether to enter the race for president. democratic candidates say they want answers, but they've stopped short of calling the alleged incidents disqualifying. breaking overnight police

have now identified a suspect in the murder of grammy nominated rapper nipsey hussle. the announcement coming just hours after chaos erupted at the scene of the killing where more than a dozen people were injured overnight a vigil turning violent in l.a. police cars and ambulances rushing to the scene after chaos broke out at a memorial for slain rapper nipsey hussle. broken candles littered the ground as victims were carried away. paramedics taking more than a dozen people to the hospital and treating others in front of the store where hussle was gunned down just one day earlier. officers in riot gear formed a human barricade to keep the crowd under control before shutting down the vigil entirely. police later saying the cause of the violence was likely a fight or loud noise which triggered a stampede after people mistakenly thought there was gunfire. the melee coming amid fears there could be violent retaliation for hussle's murder. he admitted his ties to gangs in the past but it's unclear if the shooting was gang related. hussle, a grammy nominated artist, community activist and

entrepreneur was killed sunday afternoon outside his clothing store one day before he was set to meet with the lapd to discuss ways to fight gang violence. police say the alleged shooter identified overnight as 29-year-old eric holder shot hussle in the head and torso before fleeing in a white four-door chevy cruz driven by an unidentified woman. police now issuing an urgent appeal to the public for help to track down holder. one more important note here, that meeting about gang violence with the lapd did go on yesterday in hussle's absence. emotion spilled over in a new york courtroom last night as a man charged in the murder of a woman jogging in new york city learned his fate. >> we the jury find the defendant guilty. [ cheers ] >> cheers came from the family of karina vetrano who was killed while jogging near her home nearly three years ago. chanel lewis now faces life in prison. in a taped confession lewis said he was upset at his neighbor

playing loud music and, quote, lost it when he saw vetrano running. lawyers claim that confession wascoersed. a previous trial ended in a hung jury. the defense is vowing to appeal the conviction. time now for a look at your weather for this tuesday morning. a spring soaker is on the way for millions of people along the east coast. a storm hitting the coastal carolinas will bring heavy rain, winds and waves and then gain strength as it moves up the coast. washington, d.c., philadelphia and new york city will dodge the brunt of the storm, but it could bring snow to parts of new england tomorrow. looking at today's high temperatures, 50s for most of the northeast. 70s in new orleans. 88 in phoenix. 60s up and down the west coast. those temps looking pretty nice. coming up, the outrage over hidden cameras found inside a hospital. the unimaginable invasion of women's privacy.

we're back with this wild video of a crash in appleton, wisconsin. police say a suspected drunk driver blew right through this traffic circle and ended up crashing into a taco bell drive-through. look at that video. thankfully no one was seriously hurt. a new warning about the measles this morning. the cdc has now confirmed nearly 400 cases nationwide this year. that's more than all of last year. these four states in red are responding to outbreaks meaning three or more cases. the other states in pink have reported scattered cases. this is the second worst year

for measles since 2000 when the cdc declared it was eradicated. the vaccine is 97% effective but measles is often brought into the country by unvaccinated travelers. a coroner says the south carolina college student killed after getting into a car she thought was her uber was likely stabbed to death. surveillance video shows samantha josephson getting into the suspect's chevy. police say he activated the child safety locks trapping her in the backseat. her body was found 65 miles away. the university of south carolina issued a statement monday urging all students never to get into a ride share car without checking that license plate and the make and model of the car match what is in the app. and we have new details on this unbelievable hit-and-run crash near atlanta where a 9-year-old girl was nearly killed. police now believe they know the identity of the young driver who fled. meanwhile, the girl's family shared the picture -- this picture of her in the hospital smiling as she recovers in the intensive care unit.

magician david blaine is being accused of sexual assault. new york city police confirm they're investigating claims against blaine, but they're not saying whether they've tried to interview him. the investigation was confirmed after an online report said two women had come forward with assault accusations. kids obsessed with the video game fortnite are causing more concern among doctors. many are now recommending therapy to break the habit. entertainment host revealing her own personal battle with thyroid cancer after an eagle-eyed viewer spotted a telltale sign. >> and for years it was nothing until recently it was something. >> reporter: that lump was initially diagnosed as just a nodule, but now norville says the diagnosis has changed. >> the doctor says it's a very localized form of cancer. >> reporter: according to the cdc, 48,000 people are diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the u.s. each year and women are three times more likely than men to be affected. though a lump on the neck is the most common sign, other symptoms include trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing and hoarseness. norville is not the first to benefit from a watchful viewing public. in 2013, hgtv host tarek el moussa was diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a nurse watching his show noticed a lump and just last year nicole mcguinness appeared on hgtv's

"beachhunt bargain hunt renovation" where a doctor spotted this lump. >> without you keeping a visual eye and watching that television show, who knows how long i would have gone on without that, being checked. >> reporter: as for norville, she says the decision to get it checked helped doctors act quickly and the 60-year-old says she's ready to start treatment. >> there will be no chemo. i'm told no radiation, but i will have surgery and i'll be away for a bit. >> about half of people will get a thyroid nodule like the one norville has before they turn 60. less than 5% of them turn out to be cancerous. a hospital near san diego is facing a lawsuit for secretly shooting video of 1800 women patients. the lawsuit claims the recordings catch women undressing and gynecologic procedures. the video was allegedly available to view even for nonmedical personnel. >> i was extremely embarrassed. i was mortified at the idea that there was video or images of me in that extremely vulnerable and exposed moment.

it really shook how comfortable i was with hospitals and doctors and if i could trust them. >> reporter: sharp grossmont hospital says it was trying to catch an employee who may have been stealing drugs from the operating rooms, but the lawsuit says the recording continued for two months after the case was closed. a massive drug bust here in new york and the packaging was a big clue. investigators say they found 77 pounds of suspected heroin and fentanyl. some of it labeled with the picture of the notorious colombian drug lord pablo escobar. two men were arrested. the value of the drugs, an estimated $10 million. in sports orioles pitcher david hess says he was shocked when he was denied a chance at a no-hitter. hess took his no-hit bid into the seventh inning last night against the blue jays, but he was pulled from the game with baltimore leading 6-0. the bullpen nearly blew it but the orioles hung on for a 6-5 win. >> that was tough. well, up next in "the
