cruze. a vigil turned chaotic. according to police, it was likely noise or a fight that led to a stampede, officers in riot gear formed a human barricade for crowd control. >> absolutely chaotic. mass panic. when we were watching it from footage overhead, it was literally people scattered in all directions. >> nipsey hussle was a community activist, entrepreneur and father, he was killed one day before he and the lapd were set to meet about gang violence. he has been up front about his connections to gangs in the past. tributes keep coming in, where the artist held a moment of silence for him. they are looking for help in tracking down their suspect and are expected to hold a news conference later this afternoon. >> jobina, thank you.

a man is accused of stabbing a woman in pittsburgh. police say this happened between family members. they found a woman on beechwood court. she later died at the hospital. investigators say the victim was arguing with the man, he got angry and stabbed her several times. other family members intervened. they called for help. neighbors say they are surprised to say violence hit their quiet neighborhood. >> you never want to hear about someone losing a life, let alone in your neighborhood. it's pretty heart breaking. >> pittsburgh police arrested the suspect at the scene. say say this is th city's second murder in the year. an engineer accused of poisoning a co-worker is due in court today. >> prosecutors say they have video evidence of what happened. >> i think that's insane. you don't haesh about that stuff around here. >> reporter: morgan davis just found out her long-time

lafayette neighbor is in jail charged with attempted murder. she saw police on her street just days ago. >> i saw three officers and they weren't in uniform, but they were in black. >> reporter: she is a chemical engineer, he is charged with trying to kill a colleague by poisoning her food and water, court documents reveal toxic amounts of cadmium was used. the victim noticed a strange taste of water and food she left unattended in her office. she became sick. her own relatives became sick last fall when they drank from her water bottle. under surveillance showed xu adding a substance to her water bottle on two occasions, water samples tested positive for cadmium. >> i can't imagine anyone trying to poison anyone xu's page says

he has served as a witness and consultant in materials and chemicals, someone at his lafayette home declined comment and asked us to leave. the motive remains unknown. the victim is recovering. i spoke with her briefly. she had no comment. the suspect is in jail. he is scheduled to be arraigned later this morning. a pan prosecutors called the ride share rapist is expected in san francisco superior court today. he is accused of attacking four women over five years. police say he would pose as a driver to pick up women waiting outside bars or clubs. he says he's not guilty. they report he is in the country illegally. lyft says he fraudulently represented himself when signing up to be a driver. the hide hailing company removed him when the allegations became public. in our commitment to building a better area, nbc 7 is digging into the hide hailing business. right now the family of an

uber driver struggling in a crash. he died in february when a wrong way driver slammed into his minivan. this was on highway 101 in san francisco. he leaves behind a wife and seven young kids. a go fund me account has raised more than $300,000 for the family to hopefully buy a house. his family emigrateed from afghanistan four years ago. there he was a translator for u.s. troops. >> in a sense, he's an american he. >> reporter: he served the american people well. >> tonight at 11:00, we'll reconnect with the family who is hoping to receive survivor benefits from uber, but it says it's a complicated situation. advocates want to see better protections for ride share drivers if they're injured on the job. we will have ride share stories on our platforms every day this week. we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area. share them by joining our better

bay area facebook group. a campaign is raising money to replace burned trees. the tubs fire burned a path of destruction from cal as to ga to santa rosa including sonoma county. according to press democrat, the law field resilience fund raised more than $100,000 to rebuild and restore the native habitat. the fund was started by a group of residents last year. might bes say one of their goals the to bring back a sense of home to their neighborhood. all right, let's talk about what's going on with live doppler 7. i want to go to 85, head over to 280. you can see we have wet weather. we have it on 680 and 880 from newark and pont through milpitas to try to get on 237, which is also wet this morning. it stretch palace to the santa cruz mountain and it's marching off towards the east as the

lawsuit claims a california hospital secretly recorded patients in its women's health center. here's abc's kenneth moteen. >> reporter: in this morning's gma first look is the ultimate invasion of privacy. >> i was mortified there wa video images of me in that extremely vulnerable and exposed moment. >> reporter: at the san diego area hospital, at least 80 women say hidden cameras filmed them during what they thought was a private moment. >> it was definitely wrong, it was definitely an invasion of my privacy, there is images floating around somewhere potentially viewed, could be viewed in the future. >> reporter: all because the hospital was trying to catch a thief. according to court documents, the hospital says the cameras were there as a part of an investigation into an employee accused of stealing drugs from one of the operating rooms. so who had access to these recordings and where are they now? we'll have a full breakdown of the lawsuit coming up at0 a.m. with your gma first look, i'm

livermore. >> thank you, sue. happening today in the east bay, the trial for the two men charged in the ghostship warehouse fire is set to begin. >> defendants are charged with 36 counts each of involuntary manslaughter. jobina. >> reporter: good morning, the judge made it clear the trial could be long. it is expected to be 12 to 15 weeks. the 36 counts they are each facing are for the 36 people worn killed in that warehouse fire in december of 2016. the trial today will start with more motions than jury selection, which could take several weeks. at least 640 perspective jurors will be available for vetting during the jury selection process. the prosecution and defense will each have 20 opportunities to remove a juror without giving a reason. in a hearing that lasted almost an entire day last month, the judge denied the defense's motion to essentially have the

trial dismissed and another one that would have drayed it. abc 7 news. >> also in the east bay, oakland firefighters are waiting to search the debris of a mass irwarehouse fire. sky 7 was over the inferno as it raged out of control yesterday morning. more than 20s workers were inside the building supply company. investigators believe everyone escaped, but they want to be absolutely sure. it took 60 firefighters several hours to gets the flames under control. fire investigators think a debris fire in a homeless encampment next to the white house ignited the inferno. >> homeless people living on the back side for a long time, really two months or that so we bae beg them to we b to leave for a long time. we knew it would happen some time. >> structural engineers are

worried the walls may collapse. in the south bay, san jose police are trying to figure out how a body was in the creek. they discovered it near coyote creek and capital expressway. you can see here the under water search unit is responding to the scene. it is unclear at this point if the victim is a man or woman. we have calls into police for more information. boeing 737 max jets will remain grounded for several more weeks while boeing continues to work on our software fix. the company exited the fix to the faa last week. the faa says boeing discovered additional work is needed. any software fix will have to be approved by the faa only then could it match a jet's return to the skies. a second woman has come forward accusing former vice president joe biden of inappropriate behavior. >> he walked up to me and wrapped his hands around my face like that and pulled me in and started rubbing noses with me.
