who was being harassed by a customer. that customer then punched him leaving him with a broken nose, pallete and teeth. his mother paula wants justice for her son and the community. >> please everybody look at this picture because this guy's dangerous. >> reporter: so initially it was believed that the suspect was a door dash driver, but this morning investigators here at the fremont police department said there was no evidence of that. however, tonight police said that they got new information from door dash about a second employee who better matches that suspect description. no arrests have been made, but as soon as we learn any new information we'll update the story. live in fremont, i'm katews. we are not done with the rain this week. live doppler 7 along with satellite tonight. it's a mainly cloudy night, and we're tracking some areas of drizzle. that's the green you see. and as we get you into tomorrow

>> reporter: the vice president of the b.a.r.t. board had only good things to say about his tenure here. >> he's really been pushing on recruitment, having some incentive, changing on the hiring process. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. police officer vacancies are down from 40 to 20, and some regular riders say officers are more visible, too. >> at b.a.r.t. station they've been trying to improve it, and that's something we've been noticing. >> reporter: but not everyone has seen positive changes. some have only experienced painful repercussions after riding b.a.r.t. nia wilson and her sister were both stabbed last summer. nia died and her family is emotional and angry at b.a.r.t.'s chief. >> if things were being done right there wouldn't be so many tragedies happening on b.a.r.t. now we get somebody else to do the job and do the job right.

father of seven children immigrated to california four years ago from afghanistan where he worked as a translator i u.s. troops. during that time he was shot and wounded by the taliban. he settled in concord and started driving for uber. but on february 3rd he was killed on the job in a horrific head on crash on highway 101 in san francisco caused by a wrong way driver. >> my mom, she remembers my dad like every single day and she cried for him. >> reporter: 14-year-old yaya is stepping up to help his younger siblings. a gofundme account has now raised $327,000 for the family. >> our main focus, our main goal is to get them a house. >> reporter: but the family still waiting to hear from uber about what kind of financial help they may be entitled to. uber offers additional driver injury protection at a cost of

about 4 cents per mile, offering survivor benefits to family members if you are killed. it's unclear if he was enrolled. >> i did contact uber. they've been in contact with us. >> reporter: uber sent us a statement saying this was a horribly tragic incident and our hearts continue to be with the grieving driver's family. >> workers need to be protected. >> reporter: philip mcafae founded ride share.org, many who can't pay their medical bills. >> i think that's the weakest part of the economy. i think that's the most hurtful aspect is to put people out in this very risky business and not make sure that they have the basic protections that everyboda bettik pctns workmans comp for ride share drivers.

the south bay. for students finding parking can be a real pain. a new app is trying to solve that. but we're learning it's still taking some time for the surrounding community to give the green light. amanda is live with the details. amanda? >> reporter: it is spring break for us at jsu this week. a welcome site considering college stress for students here begins with looking for a place to park. described as the airbnb of parking, the app allows students to rent parking spots from hosts. >> i wanted a solution to my own problem. >> reporter: they launched the app in january and have since partnered with the university as jcu was app on campus. according to sjsu 20,000 students drive to school but

there are about about 1,500 parking spots at the campus. the app is causing some apprehension in the neighborhood. >> it took me three times but finally on the third time i said let's try it. >> reporter: off camera others pointed to liability issues. the possibility of litter left behind by app users. and at the top of the list, security. >> you get the license information, the type, the color and the year. plus you also have the number of the driver. >> reporter: 2,100 students currently use the app, paying $2 an hour, $25 a week or $60 a month for a private spot. >> i'd like to have a better toning down community built, and if this is one of the way to extend the bridges i'm happy for that to happen. >> reporter: creators want to expand and possibly bring the app to the city of san jose, also to california state
