look what happens at 11:00, 12:00 and then saturday to talk about in a few minimum. good morning, everyone. we do have a cancellation of the giants ferry. the regular ferry boats are running out of larkspur and have lack of boats because they have a boat out of service. you can take a regular boat and walk to oracle park. a solid line of a backup eastbound 80, the reverse commute after tennessee, two lanes blocked, lanes two and three from the left. apparently the drivers and passenger fled the scene. give yourself a little extra time. an earlier accident cleared out of lanes. there's damage at golf course drive so they will have a crew out there. we'll follow up. guys? >> thanks, sue.

despite the forecast both teams are committed to playing. a look at oracle park. the first 40,000 fans will receive an opening day calendar. the giants say there may be a possible weather delay with the scheduled game's start time, the giants will provide hourly updates on the status of the game. >> tampa bay only comes once a year so we have to get the game in. it may be delayed. our intend is to play the game. opening day is really the best day of the season for us. >> reporter: the giants will have pregame tributes to honor peter mcgowan who died earlier this year and william mccovey who died in october. the weather is trying to play games with us out here. the rain has stopped. jobina fortson, abc 7 news. >> okay, jobina, because my heart dropped a little bit when i saw that umbrella up. i'm glad to see it back down.

sprinkles and light rain to start out. upper 50s to lower 60s today. a few peeks of sun. 53 in san ramone and spending time in our east bay valleys, you'll get into the mid-morning rain through the early afternoon. temperatures on the cool side. san francisco, 61. look for 64 in fremont, also san jose with the bulk of the rain out of here after about 1:00, 1:30, and then overnight tonight, another round of rain, this one you might sleep through. sue, there are some issues out there. there are. it's not exactly friday light. the bay bridge toll plaza. the cars stacked up in the left cash lanes, no metering lights yet. expect minor delays as you make your way through the cash lanes. here is our problem spot eastbound 80, the reverse commute in vallejo.

it all started that one family night in dumfries, virginia. family night is for everybody, it's a time for families to do crafts together. the kids just love going to chick-fil-a for dinner. being a single mom and getting everybody ready - it was tough. we would get there a little bit late, like on the tail end of it. helen saw that i was having trouble getting them to chick-fil-a for the family night on time and actually got it extended another hour. noticing things like that, i never really told her how much she affected me but she did. love you. once he started using my name for things he was doing. i have no compassion. >> timmothy pitzen was reported missing in 2011 when he was 6. his family says if there' one thing that comes out of the heartbreak they hope it leads to more awareness about the case. the city of chicago getting ready to file a civil suit against actor jussie smollett. they want him to pay a $130,000 bill. they asked him to reimburse the cost of police overtime spent investigating his claim. he said he was the victim of a racist and homophbe ek attack. police say he staged it. prosecutors dropped the charges and the city sent a letter demanding payment within seven days. that deadline was yesterday. >> some of you don't know how to properly close a car door and it closed. uber and lyft etiquette,

the winds will be breezy and partly to mostly cloudy skies by much of the afternoon. temperatures are running cooler than average because of the clouds and the front. more showers lined up along the peninsula and here comes the push at about 10:00 in the morning right on through 1:00 in the afternoon. by 1:00 we have sunshine out there. the upper level portion moves in. that brings more rain for your saturday morning. around the bay to .01. redwood city, san francisco, less than a tenth, a quarter of an inch on the coast. the clouds, the rain, a little sunshine in the afternoon.

>> this comes as the president abandoned a threat to close the border. abc news reporter serena marshall joins us live. >> reporter: good morning. this latest about-face after a week of whiplash whether president trump would follow through on the threat to shut down the southern border. president trump with a new threat on the southern border. >> the cars are very big f. that doesn't work, we'll close the border. i don't play games. i'll do it. >> reporter: no plans to imminently shut down the border but a new time line. the about-face after this threat one week ago. >> there's a very good likelihood i'll be closing the border next week. >> reporter: customs and border protection said they're at a breaking point apprehending an estimated 100,000 migrants, most families seeking asylum just in march. the highest level in a decade.

but his threat faced criticism even from within his own party. >> closing down the border would have potentially catastrophic economic impact on our country. and i would hope we would not be doing that sort of thing. >> reporter: the administration claims it's the president's wall, even putting up a plaque to commemorate it. that replacement fence was planned since 2009 by his predecessor, president obama. aclu and the sierra club filed a lawsuit to try and block new construction of the border wall, and a lawsuit to stop the ergency declaration declaring that unconstitutional. >> thank you, serena. former vice president joe biden will make his first appearance since several women accused him of inappropriate behavior. he will be in washington.

it's unclear, though, if he will address the situation. he responded in a video on twitter earlier this week calling his actions gestures of support and encouragement. biden says he understands it made some people uncomfortable. developing news out of the south bay, police are investigating a stabbing that left a man dead in san jose. it happened just before 7:00 last night on north capital avenue. the man was taken to the hospital where he died. no suspects have been identified, this is the city's 11th homicide of the year. a hearing will take place to see if a man is mentally competent enough to stand trial. john cowell faces charges for the murder of 18-year-old nia wilson at b.a.r.t.'s mcarthur station in oakland last july. a judge ruled in december that cowell was not competent to stand trial. since then he's jound gone psychiatric treatment.

if the judge believes he can stand trial, a date may be set. >> in the east bay, alameda county officials are trying to identify a body found in a fire. police are calling the death suspicious, a draw bridge operator saw smoke at veterans memorial park in alameda around 2:00 yesterday. police then discovered the body. officers searched the park for clues and looked for any witnesses. including a man who often fishes nearby. >> it's rare to see that happen around here. >> we did think about possible transient, possible suicide, possible body dump. we're looking into everything. >> the coroner's bureau is work to go determine who the person was and how they died. a fire gutted one business. people saw the smoke rising from

as far away as martinez. it broke out along main street. cal fire crews battled flames at one of their own stations in calistoga. fire gutted a building where they do work on vehicles. the fire destroyed four vehicles. investigators trying to figure out what started that fire. nobody was hurt. one of the oldest catholic elementary schools will be closed in june. parents blame leadership for the demise of the 110-year-old institution. generations of residents have attended star of the sea school. now the archdiocese of san francisco wants to suspend k-8 classes citing declining enrollment. parents say that families are leaving because of the actions of star's pastor joseph illo.

random showers out there. they will increase through the 9:00, 10:00 hour. as we go through the early afternoon here is the cold front. maybe a moderate rain from time to time from 11:00 through the lunch hour. after 1:30, 2:00, the front has moved through. it is breezy. the second half of that or the upper level low moving in tomorrow morning. .07 in oakland. big difference. the scattered showers, 62 napa. we're looking at a dry saturday afternoon and then for sunday, wow, that's the pick day with sunnier conditions. temperatures in the 70s and another weak system moves our way on monday. you notice we're getting the systems in and out of the bay area but they're weak and getting even weaker, getting into mid-april.

replacement surgery. the 75-year-old jagger underwent the procedure at a hospital in new york city. they announced they will postpone their tour. jeff bezos' wife the fourth richest in the world. a stake in amazon worth more than $35 billion. jeff likely the world's richest man. the couple announced the split in january after 25 years of marriage. taco bell getting very creative with its hiring. >> the fast food chain is throwing hiring parties. they do feature free food, swag, and social media friendly opportunities, of course, on the spot job interviews. taco bell tested out the parties at four restaurants last year. they're holding 600 hiring parties held between april 22nd

roadways, breezy winds. you can see it here in san francisco, highway 101. perhaps if you're headed into the city, the golden gate bridge will be wet in the next hour or so. and there's the front. it will be pushing through right in time for the giants game. sue? we're taking a look back out at our traffic maps and checking back in with this accident, or two accidents, eastbound 80 after tennessee. one of them has been cleared. the other is still out there and they have issued a sig alert. to get around it is about a 25-minute delay. take highway 29 and cut back over 37 to get back on 80 eastbound. it is in the reverse commute direction. to san francisco we go, southbound 101 near cesar chavez before 280. the accident cleared out of lanes. traffic has recovered nicely there. and you're looking at about a 32-minute drive into the bay bridge from hercules along the 80 corridor. not bad. sort of friday light, we'll call it. >> thank you, sue.
