let's get up and get going. >> this is abc 7 mornings. >> it's saturday, april 6th. good morning, thanks so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with the preview of accuweather forecast and here's lisa. >> if you live in the north bay and morning showers for the rest of you. if you look at live doppler 7 this is one of the storm impact scam so you will see light showers to 1500 this morning and it will be breezy at times. so if you look at the north bay you notice covered in green, also offshore, through napa and hercules and vallejo and southern marin.

this continues to move from the west to the east and a moist zonal flow. so if you're not wet yet you will be this morning in the next hour or so. 55 in hayward. it's 57 in san francisco and 54 up in santa rosa. so we have showers this morning, a dry afternoon with cloudy skies. temperatures in the mid-60s inland and around the bay, near 60 at the coast and we have a better day on tap if you want it sunnier for sunday. i'll talk about it with my accuweather seven-day forecast. >> lisa, thanks. the benicia bridge is open after a bomb scare. the lanes were stopped for several hours because a man said he had a bomb. officers took him into custody, but the bomb squad had to examine a suspicious package left in the truck. all lanes re-opened around 11:30. the suspect is identified as 54-year-old rodney brinker hoff. he is expected to face multiple

charges. chunks of concrete fell once again. it happened yard on the west end of the span. span. lisa pena has more. >> concrete fell on the lower level of the san rafael eastbound lanes backing up traffic for two hours. >> they've been patching it for years. >> reporter: the mayor of richmond is an architect on the site and says this bridge needs to be replaced. the caltrans director for district 4 says that's the long-term plan. >> developing a study for bridge replacement and this year we'll be requesting the funds to do that study. >> tony tavares mentioned in february when a piece of concrete fell on a vehicle. this incident is not the same. >> they were doing demolition work on one of the sliding plate expansion joint and some of the concrete spell

concrete fell on the barrier system. some were planning to avoid this bridge. >> i'm worried about something dropping on me. >> richmond's mayor joked about the bridge closing on april 15. >> i didn't mean for it to be a prediction and i didn't mean for it to be a joke. >> cal trans did confirm that the bridge is safe for drivers. in richmond, liz pena, abc 7 news. a teenager is recovering after a car drove into an apartment building in santa rosa. a mother left her 14-year-old daughter and a friend inside the car when she went inside. she left the car running and the 14-year-old boy got into the driver's seat. the girl was outside the car apparently teaching the boy about the car's controls and that's when the boy somehow put the car into gear and hit the gas. the girl got trapped in the door and dragged until the car crashed into the building. however, she is expected to be okay. >> time now is 5:03.

dozens of students, family members and friends gathered to mourn a pittsburg principal who was shot and killed. his family invited the community to a celebration of life. ansar hassan has more. >> this should be the good time to honor the life of pauly shatswell. >> the shatswell family said it was a night to celebrate and not to mourn. >> the hugely popular pittsburg principal was shot and killed in his home on march 15th, allegedly by his wife following a dispute. he leaves behind eight children. his wife jonathan spoke. >> he was an inspiration to all of us whether to do good or make better choices in our lives. that's just what his goal was. >> mansour is an esl teacher at schadtwell school and she of theed people to remember how paul was willing to help. >> just an outgoing person, just very helpful, loving. okay, let me help you with this or let's do this.

clara county district attorney just released. the shooting happened early christmas morning. officers misidentified vasquez as a suspect in another shooting. she threatened officers by driving toward them after a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle. four officers opened fire hitting vasquez 14 times after repeatedly warning her to stop. the d.a. found her behavior made the officers fear for her lives even though she was the wrong suspect. >> vallejo police need help finding two people who t-boned a driver while carrying a passenger. the uber was trying to make a left turn on to sacramento street on mississippi when a black vehicle hit him. the suspects fled from the scene. vallejo police are hoping to identify them. the uber passenger and driver were not seriously hurt. as part of our efforts on abc 7 news to build a better bay area, we're digging into ride

share realities and we looked at challenges of uber and lyft. those have included a commute challenge on monday and is a ride share or cab faster? we looked at uber and lyft's safety policies and how cities including san francisco are looking to accommodate the influx in ride sharing. we got a first-hand look at what it's like to be a driver. wayne friedman became a lyft driver for a day and here's what happened? >> have you always wondered what it's like to be a lyft driver? we did. so take a look at our car. we rented it from lyft and now we'll hit the streets of san francisco. >> so, welcome to the fray. it's slow moving much of the time, you're watching a man casting himself to the whims of passengers he'll know only on a first-name basis, but not for long. >> you must be amanda. >> that's me. thank you. >> you're karen, right?

live look from the san rafael camera. rain this morning and you can see some of the drops. how long will it last? lisa times it out for us in the accuweather forecast coming up. >> a mother and her young son have major injuries after three dogs attack them in the backyard of a vallejo home. officers found the pit bull terriers attacking the victim. they used spray to attack the dogs. the body -- or the woman and the boy were taken to a trauma center. a solano county animal control seized the animals. california ranks number one in the country for dog-related injury claims. state farm reports it paid more than $18 million for 400 dog bite claims last year. experts suggest never leaving a baby or small child alone with the dog even if it's a family pet, walk your dog on the leash and if a stranger wants to pet

your dog make sure the dog is comfo comfort. time now is 5:14. downtown moraga, the latest problem is on ream boulevard, and this was the view from drone view 7 back in 2016. a sink hole in the same area swallowed an entire enter section. officials say it could cost three times as much now. >> the town really needs storm drain funds dedicated to get a system and the system is aging and it's 60 years old and things are failing now. >> if the depression does grow, the problem could affect the entire storm drain system. taking a live look at san jose this morning, thrillis says it may actually be one of the most underappreciated cities in the country. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo has reaction. >> silicon valley, the global center for tech and innovation. across the country most

associate the high-tech hub with another booming city. >> san francisco is usually the place that they know. >> to get technical about the tech capital, it's san jose. travel and entertainment website thrillist touted san jose as one of the most underappreciated cities in america. >> i kind of agree with it. residents know the city's value. the mystique of the mystery house and day socializing in san pedro square. the installations at the intiut of contemporary art and the culture. >> we have the largest vietnamese population right outside of vietnam. that's huge. >> tough to miss japan town and other enclaves around the city? you almost don't have to leave the country. you can get everything you want worldwide here. >> reporter: professional sports at the sap center which ironically was named the top concert arena in the bay area. >> the sharks made a big difference when they moved the team downtown. >> much more is expected in the heart of the city soon. >> google is having headquarters

you can see all of them offshore. this will continue to sweep through the bay area this morning and in the north bay up towards yountville and highway 29 up toward 80 and vacaville. bodega bay jenner and this will all continue to rotate from the west to the east and as it does, you'll wake up to some soggy conditions and maybe you want to wait a while and we do have a dryer afternoon in store. you can see the flow right from the pacific, and it is mild out there and no ridge of high pressure in sight which will work to dry us out for an extended period of time. mountain view, 56 as well as san francisco and 54. so you can see a few drops on the lens from our exploratorium camera, morning showers and dryer this afternoon and more sun tomorrow and more clouds on monday. the next system arriving favoring the north bay monday night so we are still looking at a pretty active pattern out there and for the middle of

april and beach hazard statement with an increased risk of sneaker waves and bodega bay and san francisco, monterey about five teet. when we begin to dry out, more sun. concord and hayward, low 50s san francisco and 67 petaluma and here comes the chance of rain late monday and that cools us off into the 60s and temperatures will be much cooler after the system passes us. so we do have a couple of things to manage this morning which is the rain for the first part of the day. here we are and we're not done because still more green, 10:30 right toward noon time and at 12:30 we will considerably dry out and see clouds around and not too much sun out there and amounts less than a tenth of an inch and this is through 1:00.

you can see a few hundreds and a nuisance rain and maybe you want to wait to grab the umbrella to get out this morning for a run to take the dog out because it's one of those soggy starts to the weekend. 67 in fremont, afternoon clouds and a few peeks of sun and low to mid 60s in the north bay and plenty of clouds after the morning rain and tomorrow this bodes well for the rock n roll marathon series with temperatures in the 50s and we'll see the clouds begin to thin out this afternoon. upper 50s, 9:00 and by 11:00 we'll see partly cloudy and sunny conditions. >> the accuweather seven-day forecast and then we'll see a little bit more sunshine tomorrow and increasing clouds on monday with another one on the storm impact scale. you'll notice, chris, we have a couple of nice days, sunny and then we do have temperatures

the consumer product safety commission and fisher-price say it has been linked to ten infant deaths since 2015. infants that were three months or older rolled from their back to their stomach or side and the babies were not buckled in. the cpsc urges parents to stop using the rock and play when they're able to roll over. the website gas buddy predicts the average price in california will soon rise to the highest level since 2015. the state average is $3.78, but prices could climb to $4 in the next two weeks. gasoline supply is tight because refineries are in the midst of a planned maintenance program and oil prices are up to the highest level in five months. >> filling up at the gas pump is a painful experience, now imagine the pain when the pump tries to charge you for gas that you haven't received? that's what happened to one san francisco man. so he reached out to 7 on your side's michael finney for help.

>> the chevron station at harrison and sixth in san francisco is a very busy place. it's where allen low often fills up his car. recently, he had an odd experience here. >> i put the gas pump in and went into the store expecting it to come back to have the car filled up and ready to go, and i came back. the nozzle stopped, but i noticed that the meter was still going and i took the nozzle out and it kept going. so i took a video of it. >> allen sent me his video through faceback so i can show it to you and find out what's going on. here is that video. notice there's no fuel coming out of that nozzle. now look above at the meter. the cost of the fuel and the amount of the fuel registered as being pumped just keeps going up. >> when i put it back it finally stopped. so i had to go and talk to them to see if they can give me a

refund or something. they were able to give me about $5 estimate. so they weren't really sure and i wasn't really sure how much it went over. >> allen did great advocating for itself by asking for the refund and chevron did well by working out a solution on the spot. the pump was put out of service and allen put out a complaint with the san francisco department of weights and measures. >> they contacted me and they'll give me an update once they investigate more into it. >> i spoke to weights and measures and they said the investigation is ongoing. i reached out to chevron which owns this station and was told in part, issues with dispenser accuracy are rare, and we greatly appreciate hearing about any concern so that we can address them right away. a customer alerted us to this issue. we provided a refund to the customer and took the dispensary out of service.

a technician came to the station the same day and the hardware was fiblsed and tested and the other dispensers were inspected and no other issues were found. >> always document and vid why is best. chevron says the out of service pump i saw was for an unrelated issue with equipment that covers vapors and that issue has been resolved as well. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. >> the president departs california overnight after his visit to the border. what he now says needs to happen within one year. >> also a new, fort to ease traffic and it is more convenient for you. the program that could

weather conditions. >> the north bay getting going first and live doppler 7 in a moment and the impact scale starting off with a one and that will allow for not only the showers this morning and the amounts from a tenth of an inch and the winds are breezy out there. so as we look at live doppler 7, yes, our radar and as we go in closer out toward vacaville and highway 80 and vacaville and yountville. it's even wetter from jenner to bodega bay. throughout the morning hours this will continue to press from the west to the east and san francisco getting wet and the possibility of showers in the east bay and 56 in san bruno and in the north bay we're in the mid-50s and 49 in los gatos. as we go through the next few hours it is certainly wet out there with the low 50s and by the time we get to 11:00. temperatures are mild and it's muggy and a few isolated showers and by the afternoon we're cloudy and temperatures are on the cooler side of average and

by the evening tonight that will be dry and that will set us up for a pretty good looking sunday and i'll talk about it in a few minutes. >> lisa, thank you. president trump is in nevada disputing the national leadership of the republican jewish coalition and this is video of him arriving from las vegas. he flew in in los angeles where he made an unannounced visit to his golf club. the president says he's giving mexico one year to stop the flow of migrants and illegal drugs into the u.s. here's abc news reporter ramina pugo. >> president trump arrived to tour the first portion of replacement fencing. >> it's better and much more effective than the previous wall. >> the president greeted by protesters. trump walking back that threat this week. now saying if mexico doesn't stop the flow of migrants or illegal drugs a year from now he can shut the border or increase tariffs. >> we will shut it down if we

need here. >> ramina puga calexico, california. >> people in los angeles will be raising money in honor of nipsey hussle. a tattoo shop is raising money for one of his favorite charities. police say he got into some sort of fight with the suspect eric holder outside of a store on sunday. holder came back with a gun. he has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. holder is being held on $5 million bail. boeing is cutting back production on the 737 max, but it is just temporary. it will have 42 to 52 planes every month and the 737 max is being scrutinized after 352 people died in two crashes. it appeared to be a problem with the anti-stall system. all of boeing's 737 max jets have been grounded since that

crash. the coast guard has seized more than 7 tons of cocaine with a group based in alameda. over the past two months, six suspecting smuggling vessels were intercepted in international waters off the coast of mexico and central and south america. they were offloaded in san diego yesterday. the drugs are worth more than $190 million. the operation is part of the coast guard's strategy that focuses on smuggling routes in the eastern pacific and the caribbean. 24 california cities and one county are suing the state to strike down the regulation that allows cannabis deliveries and they approved those home deliveries in january and the rule conflicts with another one that gives them control over how they choose to deal with legal marijuana. the local companies suing are santa cruz county, vacaville and the city of san pablo. >> in the south bay, the city of mountain view has come up with a solution to help ease downtown traffic. officials there have been

quietly piloting a free valet parking program and so far it's been a success. >> reporter: in mountain view this isn't your ordinary downtown parking lot. >> good morning, ma'am. we have free valet service for you. >> this has been great and it doesn't cost anything and it's been real easy for us. >> a pilot program now under way offering free valet during peak hours. dozens of drivers making use of the city-provided service at villa and franklin. >> on average in a downtown, 30% of traffic is attributed to people circling for parking. >> business development specialist tiffany chu says the city is using existing space without having to create additional infrastructure. >> for example, are we striking over parking lot or building a new parking structure because that takes time and a lot of coordination whereas this program we've been able to ramp up in a short amount of time. >> the chamber of commerce says the program has been beneficial

good morning, everyone. time right now is 5:39. we are taking a live look outside from the san jose camera. you can see clouds in the skies right now as we begin this saturday morning. we are tracking the rain for you throughout parts of the bay area. lisa will let us know when it will dry out coming up in the full accuweather forecast, but first take a look at this. a herd of goats wandered on to private property in los altos hills. that made a few deputies with the santa clara county sheriff's

temporary goat-to guys, get it? the department posted this video on facebook. about 50 goats were roaming the area thursday night. with the help of animal control and a sheepdog they were able to herd the goats back to their owner. a rare sighting in monterey bay. these are resident killer whales and there are three dozen of them and the last confirmed sighting was back in 2011. they're usually seen in pugit sound in cawashington and many were wondering so many were missing and they've been hanging out here in monterey bay all week long. real he nice to see. >> so many different things about the spring time here and also our winter, but we are looking at more april showers. as we head outside for some of you. here's our roof camera, and yes, it is a little slick there. not everyone seeing the rain and it will be light and out of here by early afternoon ask it's mild. low to mid-50s right now, but we

>> reporter: good morning, everyone. a night after routing lebron james' new team the lakers, the warriors tried to do the same to lebron's old team, the cleveland cavaliers. nick young getting his championship ring before the game and swaggy p, forever a champion. steph curry went 1 for 9 thursday night and he had four trays in the first quarter and this one he had seven total points thursday. he got four right here on this play, the three and the foul. 18 in the first quarter and dubbed by 19 at the break. draymond green and the highest scoring game of the year. he had 20 and with this three steph passes paul arizen for third on the warriors all-time scoring list and rick berry and curry had nine three-pointers and a total of 40 points and the cavaliers make a furious comeback in the fourth, but the warriors lang on to win it 120 to 114.
