and she was holding on to the baby and they were pulling on the baby. >> reporter: these three pit bulls were attacking a mother and her 3-year-old son. steve grabbed his golf club to distract the dogs. i kept beating on the trash can, and so, i could distract their attention from the other two. >> reporter: doris called 9-1-1. the police arrived minutes later and used pepper spray to separate the dogs from the victims. >> by they got here, the dogs had drug her to the other fence. >> reporter: mother and son were rushed to the hospital. the three dogs were took to the shoulder in fairfield where they are in quarantine. the dogs had recently moved in to the house with the neighbors. >> i didn't know they had pit bulls over there. >> i just, pray for those who got involved to just, go through a quick recovery. >> reporter: the neighbors are

glad the mother and baby survived but they are hauntin d hauntinged -- haunted by what they saw. >> it's rough seeing someone fight for their life. >> reporter: the mother and son suffered multiple dog bites. the fate of the animals is unclear as well tonight, we do know that the owner of the dogs could face possible criminal charges. according to the police. ac7 news. >> in the north barracy, an inj woman spent time alone after a crash down a steep ravine. a man behind the wheel of the truck was killed. both he and the woman were ejected from the vehicle. the highway patrol said that the woman suffered a leg fracture and managed to climb back up the embankment to a dirt road. >> we are not sure she had to crawl up, looks like she had to wait for help for over 12 hours

before a passer-by saw their and then called 9-1-1 and she was air lifted to a hospital. >> the officer said it was fog and i wet which made for dangerous driving conditions. neither the passenger or deceased driver were wearing seat belts. all lanes of the san r bridge is open after they had chunks of the plate joints on the upper deck had fallen. a separate unrelated incident saw concrete chunks fall on to the lower deck on february 7th. the agency is monitoring the bridge to prevent any future issues. all lanes of the benetia bridge are open after a bomb scare. southbound lanes were shut down because a man stopped in the middle on of the bridge and said he had a bomb. officers say they took the 54-year-old man in to custody.

while the bomb squad examined the package left in the truck, nothing dangerous was found. and all lanes reopened around 11:30. in the east bay, police cracked down on drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians not sharing the road responsibly. abc7 news was in concord, where 67citations were issued. reasons included unsafe la -- cutting people off, failing to yield and not being on the right side of the road. it's not just drivers that have rules to follow. >> people riding likes have to adhere to the same rules of the road that any vehicle does. they have to stop at stop signs and use the signal lights. like a normal vehicle would. >> police say following the rules can mean life and death differences. pedestrian deaths are up 33% from 2012 and the number

good evening, in the headlines, checking back in on the breaking news a crane fire at the port of oakland. this was the picture minutes ago, it's burning on middle harbor with road near 880, so, a lot of drivers are calling chp to report it. the fire was called in first after 11:00. there's no reports of anybody being injured and we have taken a look at live pictures in the last couple of minutes. looks like they may have had it knocked down well over the last 5:00 or so. a b.a.r.t. rider had to be taken to a hospital after being attacked. the station was closed for 45 minutes. we are told the suspect and victim got in to some type of altercation on the treanor on the platform. one person was taken in to custody and the victim is expected to be okay. a mother and her 3-year-old
