made it clear that riders are frustrated about fare evaders and the whole impact of the homelessness crisis on their riding experience, like people sleeping on trains, bart says its officers and fair inspectors will start working extra hours and on days off to increase presence on trains, platforms and stations, bart employees will be wearing high visibility vests to provide an additional layer of presence. part says it loses 25 million a year as a result of people not paying for tickets. many stations already have been retrofitted with raised railings and alarm swing gates and a push by the general manager seven more stations will be completed by july. these people skip into the gates every day, every time i go on bart. it's a little irstatetateing since i'm paying. >> we heard from our riders, they want to see more employee presence, at fare gates, the platforms and the stations. >> bart says the general manager

i will do all i can to el have a it the issue of ending gun violence. i think that's an appropriate place to start. >> okay. thank you for joining us this morning. a big announcement last night on the colbert show. why now? why are you deciding to put your name in the ring? >> well, i have been in congress for six years and have fought for our democracy on the intelligence committee and i've led a group called future form taking our youngest members of congress across the country to listen to young people and stand up for them. i see a country that's in gridlock unable to some big problems. when it comes to gun violence, i see mass shooting after mass shooting. nothing gets done when it comes to student debt. i got just under $100,000 of it. i see a generation that can't buy their first home. when it comes to wages, i see people just having their healthcare costs, give us their paychecks and not get ahead, that's not going to change until our leaders will go big with the issues. be bold and the way we govern.
