>> we're getting information out to our riders along the 49 and 47 lines to let them know there was someone riding with measles and if you're feeling any symptoms that normally comes with something like the measles to go see your physician. >> reporter: the virus is airborne for about an hour so those places are now safe. you just need to know you could have been exposed if you were there last week. that symptom is the rash. the measles starts with a runny nose, cough, watery eyes and a high fever. this person who visited lives in santa clara county and we're told this person is recovering at home. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. the san francisco warning comes amid a nationwide measles outbreak. in new york city alone health officials say it's the worst outbreak since 1991. the city has declared a public

>> the city council voted to end the contract with the company that supplies the devices. red light tickets generated over $1 million in fines but the city only got $24,000. most of the money wept to the state, the county, and the camera operator. councilmembers were also concerned with the number of crashes in intersections with those cameras that they've actually increased. it's unclear if the city will try to find another camera operator. the man accused of having a list of women that he wanted to rape is due back in court next week. 37-year-old matt caruso appeared before a judge in martinez yesterday. he pleaded not guilty to three charges including child pornography as well as attempted kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape charges. he is accused of attacking a woman outside her walnut creek apartment building. he targeted several women. police say he kept detailed notes on where they worked and

lived and detailed being graphic ways he wanted to assault them. they are trying to determine if there are more victims. >> we feel due to the threat of public safety and the fact there are potential victims involved especially with the criminal protective orders we want to protect those jane does. that's why we'll be asking for no bail. >> the no bail hearing is set for april 18th. caruso's attorney declined to comment on the case. happening today the man suspected of being the golden state killer is due back in court for a hearing. 73-year-old james deangelo is accused of at least 13 murders and numerous sexual assaults dating back to the 1970s. he was arrested one year ago after investigators used dna evidence to link him to a crime scene. in december a sacramento judge ruled that deangelo could not afford to pay for a defense attorney, and he would continue to be represented by a public defender. >> william barr will be back on capitol hill today for day two of testimony. he's expected to talk about the department of justice's budget,

but senators are really interested in special counsel robert mueller's report on the russia investigation. barr told members of the house yesterday he plans to release a redacted version of the report within a week. the nearly 400-page report looked into potential ties between russia and the trump campaign. israel's benjamin netanyahu appears to be heading towards his fifth term as prime minister. more than 97% of votes from the latest election have now been counted. his right-ring party appears to have security a majority in parliament. 16 parents involved in the k college admissions scandal are facing new charges. the government indicted six bay area parents on money laundering charges, that is in addition to the other two bay area parents that were already indicted. abc 7 news i-team reporter melanie woodrow has the latest. >> reporter: bay area parents already implicated in the college admissions scandal are now facing new charges outlined in a second superseding

indictment. they are diane and todd blake of ross. did you pay to help your child get in to school? elizabeth and manuel. did you use the side door? and marcy of hillsborough. are you and your spouse still laughing about it? was it still worth had ever cent? the indictment alleges conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud as well as money laundering conspiracy. amy and dr. gregory colburn were previously indicted on the same charges. their attorney says they will plead not guilty. 14 defendants including five bay area parents said they would plead guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail frod. bruce and davina isackson are the only parents who have signed a cooperation agreement with the government. should they provide substantial assistance in the investigation or prosecution, the u.s. attorney will file a motion to recommend that the court impose a sentence below the advisory guidelines sentencing range. bruce isackson will plead guilty

to one count of money laundering conspiracy and one count of conspiracy to defraud the irs after taking a tax deduction for the bribe. they said they are profoundly sorry. also indicted actress lori loughlin and her husband. an arraignment date has not yet been scheduled. for the i-team in the newsroom, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. and to much happier news, san jose sharks fans are getting into playoff mode. >> tonight the sharks will open the first round of the stanley cup playoffs against the las vegas golden knights at the s.a.p. center. prior to the game the sharks will host a free street rally from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. outside the s.a.p. center on autumn street. the puck drops at 7:30. tickets are still available on the sharks' website. the least expensive ticket costs $55. mike? this weather in san jose, also if you're wearing one of those hockey jerseys you know how warm they can be. maybe dress in layers because

the l.a. basin in san diego will be breezy to windy in the mountains. be careful going through there. a look at the rest of the day. low to mid-70s through the central valley. a few clouds in eureka and 56. 85 in palm springs today. we have a whole lot of sunshine today in the sierra. a lot of snow tomorrow especially above, say, 7,000 feet. and then it gets up to near 60 by saturday. skiing with short sleeves on. >> wild. thank you, mike. in the south bay san jose city leaders say there's nothing they can do to stop a chick fil a from opening despite protests from the lgbt community. the restaurant is set to open in about a month under an approved contract. the city council did take some action. they voted to hold off on extending the contract for the chick-fil-a and promised to place rainbow flags. they have been accused of anti-lgbt behavior for years. if you just received your

california real i.d., it may not comply with federal rules, and that could mean another trip to the dmv. the federal government says california didn't stick to homeland security guidelines when it developed the program and as a result more than 3 million people may have to submit more proof of where they live. the dmv plans to send letters to those drivers and have them return the letter as proof of residence. some people may have to go back to a dmv office. building a better bay area can sometimes mean returning to your roots. that's especially the case in the south bay, an area once known for acres of fruit trees. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo takes us to a secret orchard where one man is trying to preserve the area as agricultural legacy. >> reporter: the word apple carries different weight in present day silicon valley. fruit growing, once known as the valley of hearts delight, has remained. he grows and sells a rare vintage fruit tree in morgan

sneezing yet. breezy and milder today. temperatures will do that little springs seesaw up and down through the seven-day forecast. the constant will be the fact it looks pretty dry. look at our high temperatures today. 69 in milpitas. everybody else in the low 70s in the south bay. gilroy, 73 degrees. 70 in mountain view. we start 61 to 63 along the coast today. 65 in downtown in south san francisco. north bay coast low 60s. then you head inland and we have 69 in sonoma to 73 in santa rosa. napa to about 70. 70 in orinda, hayward and fremont. everybody else around 68 or 69 along the east bay shore and 70 to 74 in our east bay valleys. a look at tonight's temperatures, milder than this morning, mid-40s to low you will see the winds shift. look at tomorrow up to six degrees cooler.

park and it couldn't be much nicer if you're sitting in tsun. if you are sitting in the sun, can't stress enough wear the sunscreen. wrapping up the series with the padres. 12:45 first pitch. thank you, mike. the dalai lama is said to be resting comfortably in a hospital recovering from a chest infection. the 83-year-old tibetan leader just returned to his home in the himalayas after a meeting with youth leaders. he'll spend two to three days at the hospital. voters in the north bay are gearing up for a protest friday over a crackdown at a marina in sausalito. they say the marina closed its dinghy dock and some boaters who anchor outside say the move is illegal because the dock provides public access. they say the closure prevents them from getting to shore safely. the boaters say the marina will let some dock if they meet certain requirements and pay a fee. we have reached out to the

marina for comment and are wait to go hear back. it was a bad hair day but gusty winds creating real problems. this is video of a tree that came down at golden gate park in san francisco yesterday. it took a pole down with it. winds gusting about 35 miles an hour at the time. nobody got hurt. yeah, those winds are going to be around again today. they won't be quite as fast as they were yesterday. you can see even by tomorrow morning we're still looking at 15 to 25-mile-per-hour gusts to 30 along the coast. again, as we head to thursday, let's go into the afternoon hours, you can see we get up to 25 to 35 and then the winds just keep going until we get to about friday into saturday. that's when they'll start to taper a little bit. so watch out for the pollen once again. tree pollen is high. uv index is high. we have mulberry, oak and pine. let me take this further all th way through the week it's going to stay high. so make sure you have the tissues and your medicine handy. you'll need it. here is alexis.
