story. >> reporter: good morning, kenneth. good morning, stephanie. hours after his arrest, julian assange went before a british judge and was found guilty for failing to appear in court in 2012. that is just the beginning of assange's pending legal troubles. with a long beard and his hair tied back, he was carried out of the ek what doer yan embassy. >> no one is above the law. >> reporter: they announced charges against the former wikileaks co-founder. accused of trying to publish documents through wikileaks. the battle to bring asaung to the u.s. to answer to those charges will likely be a lengthy one. >> we'll be contesting and fighting extradition. >> reporter: that fight goes on as he awaits sentencing for skilling bail in the uk.

>> he did say he was worried that, if he was in a normal american prison, of being beaten up. >> reporter: a documentary filmmaker expressed the fear that -- >> he could face the rest of his life in isolation. >> reporter: since 2012, assange hasn't stepped foot outside of the ecuadorian embassy. he quickly was unwanted there. on his way out, he reportedly smeared feces on the wals. the charges against assange are not related to release of emails in the 2016 campaign. overnight, hillary clinton reacted to assange's arrest. >> the bottom line is, he has to answer for what he has done. at least as it's been charged. i do think it's a little ironic that he may be the only foreigner that this administration would welcome to the united states.

statements and concealed information about his work in ukraine. craig denies any wrong doing. we turn now to michael avenatti. the once high-powered hollywood lawyer. he's been indicted, akuds of saling to much money from one of his chipts he alenedly ledge the man desty tut. >> reporter: celebrity attorney michael avenatti, known for representing stormy daniel against president trump dealt another legal blow. a federal grand jury in california indicting the controversial lawyer on 36 counts including tax fraud, bank fraud, and bankruptcy fraud. they say he's been engaging in a complex scheme the steal money. prosecutors detailed how he allegedly stole settlement money from four clients. one client, a paraplegic man who obtained a $4 million settlement is still waiting for his portion of the deal. >> mr. avenatti had drained the

entire $4 million payment from his trust account. using significant portions of these funds to finance his coffee business, his auto racing enterprise, and his own personal lifestyle. >> reporter: the new indictment expands on the charges he is facing in new york. if found guilty, he could get over 300 years in federal prison. on wednesday, authorities seedsed the jet he co-owned. prosecutors claum h paud for the jet with stole. money from clients. in new york, he's accused of trying to extort million from nike. he's scheduled to be arraigned on april 29th. zachary kiesch, abc news, new york. it was an emotional final good-bye to murdered rap star nipsey hussle. thousands of people lined the procession. the hearse stopped in front of his clothing store, where he was shot nearly two weeks ago.

holder services. >> reporter: this morning, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are agreeing on one issue. >> illegal robo calls have to end. >> enough is enough. we have to stop this. >> reporter: they say something has to be done about robocalls. the annoying calls that seem to come at the worst time. a proposal was announced to push major carriers to create technology to brock the calls. they're also talking harsher punishments. >> it's no surprise that they consistently rank among the top complaints. >> reporter: americans received 5.2 billion calls last month. the scammers use spoofing. t i makes it appear that the calls are coming from an area code that is familiar. senator cory gardener of colorado says one of his staffers got a robo call in his

senate office from a number that looked lying it was coming from inside the building. >> a phone call that looks like it came from inside the senate. >> just so owe now, you just called the united states senate line. and this is being recorded. and we know that this is instance of fraud. >> call. >> yes. >> reporter: why fcc rules were thrown out last year that targeted autodialers. critics slammed the fcc for not adequately enforcing the do not call registry. back in congress, supporters of the new proposal hope to see a senate vote on the plan in the coming weeks. most robocalls are made by companies for legitimate business. publishes reportsy loughlin is struggling with the

building a better bay area. this morning focused on b.a.r.t. passenger safety has been a top concern. more police officers is not the answer, some say. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the walnut creek b.a.r.t. station. amy? >> reporter: hi, good morning, jessica. who do you want looking over you and looking out for your safety on b.a.r.t.? an armed police officer or an unarmed ambassador? that is the debate. according to the "san francisco examiner" at yesterday's board meeting they debated this. the general manager allocated $2 million in the proposed budget for more police officers, but some on the board question that. some of them asking instead for unarmed ambassadors who would be trained to de-escalate situations. and they're talking about hiring ex-convicts in the ambassador
