without it. one case hit google's mountain view campus. we're learning new details about the patient. buzzfeed news obtained an email to employees. it said a worker who had been into the google's charleston road building early in the month had been diagnosed with measles. tonight, santa clara health officials confirm an adult with measles went to google. but they say the person lives in san mateo county. so it's a group effort to make sure there's no more exposure. >> in our county we have high vaccination rates, which means that the vast majority of the population is protected. so in these investigations, we're trying to understand, is there anybody who might have been exposed who is not protected? >> google has not commented on any of this. >> smash, grab and go, a thief busted through a store by

driving in and driving out with high-end merchandise. melanie woodrow is outside on geary street with the cleanup and investigation. melan melanie? >> reporter: the all-day cleanup, i was just talking to one of these workers here. he said they're almost done and they've been out here all day. you can see them boarding up what had been the glass windows that were smashed. they then removed them. so far police have not released a suspect description, but there is surveillance video. >> workers successfully and safely removing a large pane of glass from st. laurent after someone drove in and took merchandise leaving a spare tire behind. >> an individual at 4:30 in the morning tried to back into the storefront three times and was successful on the third instance. several of their cameras

the use of the plastic bags and other plastic products. but there are some questions, especially among store owners. >> whatever we can do to help the planet is what we should be trying to do. >> karen hood iburg is an owner of the good life grocery store. it's been a fixture here for almost three decades. she and her colleague pauline stanley tell us raising the carry-home bags from ten cents to a quarter might encourage shoppers to bring their own bags. a good thing. the author of the bill says other cities have seen a huge drop in the use of these bags. >> that's one of the reasons that we're raising that. we're coming up where most people -- most cities are charging $.25 a bag. >> the more problematic, the for now, they're allowed only for certain things like vegetables, meat and other selected foods. >> bulk items, it would be difficult for granolas and nuts

for the oak land a's and a new ballpark. the maritime industry is pushing back on a plan launched by the team late last year. there's resistance now. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony is live at howard terminal with a look at their concerns and response from a's team president. >> reporter: that's right. it's been nearly five months since the a's officially announced they want this site at howard terminal for their new ballpark. suddenly, after months of negotiations, it appears that some in the maritime industry want the project stopped. >> it's insane. >> long shoreman aaron wright represents the coalition of unions. maritime businesses and others who oppose the oakland a's plan to build their new ballpark at howard terminal. >> going to impact labor and thousands of jobs in the port area. there's no infrastructure for transportation. it will impact a trucker getting

in and out of the port. ship traffic coming in and out of the port. >> reporter: the public opposition is five months after the a's announced howard is the team's first choice, not only for a new stadium but surrounded by 4,000 housing units, retail and other amenities. >> we met with the shippers and the pilots. >> a's president told us he's met numerous times to discuss concerns around howard terminal. >> we met with all the key folks to make sure this can accommodate the -- it needs a thriving port and great ballpark location. both can exist. >> contrary to critic's claims, he said the turn around channel will not be impeded but improved with the stadium. >> done a lot of renderrings. why is it coming out now? >> libby schaaf said oakland values union jobs and visionary

projects. our city can support a new ballpark and create thousands of high-wage jobs on the waterfront at the same time. >> reporter: now, the union and maritime group have an event tomorrow morning on the steps of oakland city hall. this all comes as the port commission is deciding whether to enter into negotiations with the oakland a's for the sale of this property. in oakland, laura anthony, abc 7 news. with a week until the nfl draft, the 49ers hosted the annual local pro day this afternoon getting draft eligible athletes a chance to get in front of scouts and coaches for the last knight time. chris nguyen has more from levi's stadium in the south day. >> reporter: dozens of draft eligible athletes took the field at the 49ers practice facility today. bay area college or high school graduates hoping to impress the head of the nfl draft.

country took part in honoring notre dame marking two days since fire ripped through the 850-year-old gothic masterpiece. >> we learned today the cathedral was within 15 minutes of collapsing into a domino effect. narrowly averted when -- investigators have interviewed 40 people in the effort to determine the exact cause of the fire. it is believed to be an accident. >> experts say full restoration of the cathedral will take 10 to 15 years. donations for the rebuilding have reached nearly a billion dollars. >> the response has been overwhelming. so rapid. laser scanning technology lieb the saving grace in the monumental effort to rebuild the cathedral. >> an america historian who has passed away captured the historic sight in 2015 with great detail. >> oakland-based company that uses the same type of equipment to record other significant site around the world showed abc 7 news reporter chris reyes how it

focus on what will improve our quality of life here, both for now and in the future. focused on the issue of recycling. more complicated than you might think. it involves international relationships. one-third of local recycling centers in the state have closed in the past three years. two years ago, california sent the majority of recyclables to china. now china banned most imports. as a result, california is sending more recyclable trash to land fills. what's the solution? >> there are multiple different directions to come at the problem ducing the amount of waste. making sure we recycle existing material and incorporating that recycled material into new maki maybe even making sure that we're utilizing reusable products when we can. >> california lawmakers are still pushing forward new recycling bills at well. we found a lot of ways in which
