unthinkable story. good evening. thank you for joining us. >> a grandmother in the south bay has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her 3 year-old grandson. >> let's get right to news reporter live. tonight. >> the grandmother has been booked into the county jail on multiple charges including murder as well as child abuse. police call this a horrific crime. >> heartbreak. not only for a family but the community at large. >> as a father i'm just overwhelmed with emotion and i don't know how this family will deal with it. >> 70 year-old is under arrest tonight for allegedly killing her 3 year-old fwrand son. it happened monday afternoon in the 700 block. they responded to a call and found the boy unresponsive. the toddler passed at the hospital. the family is devastated.

>> we're here to support them. >> according to police the toddler lifed with his aunt who was the guardian. the grandmother also lived in the home as a caretaker. community members are in disbelief. >> all i see is older people walking the area. or families. with baby carriages. so it's usually very quiet. >> police took the grandmother into custody on a warrant and don't believe any other family members are suspected in the child death. >> we have never had to respond to that location for any type of abuse allegations. no knowledge of any previous abuse allegations. >> the coroner office telling us the boy died of manual strangulation. >> the suspect is expected to make her court appearance tomorrow afternoon. >> thanks. a quick thinking nurse disarmed a man who walked into a hospital

emergency room waves what turned out to be a bell let gun. this happened 9:30 this morning add good samaritan hospital. the man demanded to be seen and produced this gun. it caused a panic and reported to police that there was an active shooter. police and sheriffs swarmed the scene of course. and found the suspect was already being held down by a nurse. >> he walked up and just said put your hand up. the suspect sat down on the and walked up to him and grabbed the gun and threw it. and talk ld him to the ground. >> nobody was hurt. no shots fired. the suspect in his 50s was booked for a replica firearm. >> the coast guard is searching for a border missing in the ocean. the coast guard is getting help from a helicopter and firefighters. you can see foggy conditions maybe complicating the search.

the half-moon bay are view reports he's only 18. he was first reported missing around 3:00 this afternoon >> in san francisco, there are some troubling issues with the city new streetcars. the biggest is a defect in some soft doors causing them to lock down on things that gt stuck in them. including people. last week a woman's hand got caught and she was dragged down the platform. we spoke with the man who helped her. she joins us live. >> she was like -- i saw like this. and the rest of the body. this part was clearly trapped. >> a couple people were banging on the car. like stop stop. there's somebody trapped. >> that was last friday. software engineer who ride daily tweeted this about 2:00 p.m. april 12. just saw a train new car northbound drag an elderly woman onto the tracks.
