15 minutes over to hayward -- pardon me, over to foster city. and dumbarton bridge about a ten-minute drive from east to west. >> sue, thank you. right now we are tracking breaking news in fremont. we want to get straight to that live picture that we have from the scene. it's near washington hospital. police are holding a briefing there for reporters. they're talking about an officer involved shooting, they responded to a possible active shooter outside the hospital. we got word the police department saying this all started when the suspect shot at an officer but that officer was not hit. the suspect, though, was shot and killed. >> yes. and amy hollyfield is live. she is listening in to the press conference now and she is going to take all those notes possible and she will certainly give us an update in a moment thflt . this is a live look.

you can see everything is closed off as far as trying to get through there traffic wise and the investigation continues. everything started near washington hospital. >> you'll see large scene there and several blocks blocked off now as police tried to comb through the evidence on the scene. still, again, we'll check in with amy shortly. a benicia man is in custody following a seven-hour standoff. police say he is the same man who made a bomb threat on the benicia/martinez bridge a few weeks ago. 54-year-old rodney brinckerhoff claimed to have a firearm and threatened to harm a person. authorities shut down streets and evacuated some of the neighbors and found multiple loaded firearms in his home after he peacefully surrendered last night. he was out on bail from this claimed he had planted bb on

the bridge. it was closed for several hours. authorities found no explosive devices. a 70-year-old grandmother is due in court today. she is accused of killing her 3-year-old grandson. police responded to a home on luz del sol loop. when officers got there the little boy was unresponsive. the county coroner says that the boy was strangled. officials booked his grandmother, foos abdi hashi, into jail for homicide and child abuse. police say the parents were out of state. his grandmother was his caretaker at the time. >> not only shocked our community but it shocked our personnel. i as a father can't believe what the family is going through. >> the santa clara county sheriff's office says hashi is being housed in a dorm for the severely mentally ill to make

sure she does not harm herself or others. she is due in court at 1:30 this afternoon. developing news out of washington as congress decides what to do with special counsel robert mueller's findings about president trump. mueller clined t procute president trumpn obstruction of justice but did not exonerate him. his report provides fresh evidence of mr. trump's interference in the russia probe challenging lawmakers to respond. republicans are eager to push past the investigation while democrats say mueller's findings are far more serious than initially indicated. they've been hesitant to pursue impeachment. the fbi is getting involved in the investigation into the deadly campfire. the butte county district attorney's office wants the fbi to test some towers from the pg&e power lines suspected of starting the fire. the utility has said it believes at least one of its power lines will be found responsible. rlr iseaed forkrtc and here is a live look from

here is sue. we have a thick fog advisory, dense fog w needed. two lanes northbound, four lanes for your southbound commute off the waldo and once you get past the span into the city looks good, fog free. back to the richmond/san rafael bridge where it's slow and go, late road work picking up with the emergency repairs and now you're stacked up behind the toll plaza. once you get onto the span itself it's not so bad. we'll take a quick look at what that looks like speed wise backed up for about a 20-minute delay behind the tolls and then you're full speed ahead from after the tolls merging into the two lanes across to marin county. thank you, sue. cooking oil is now helping fuel city vehicles in oakland. officials announced that raw material like cooking oil is being gathered from oakland businesses. it's then turned into renewable diesel which is put into the gas tanks of city vehicles. the city fleet has run on renewable diesel since 2015.

muni is taking action after a passenger was dragged with her hand caught. new trains will be upgraded with sensors on both sides of the door that open when touched. >> by design the sensor is on the car body. in the enhansed design we add a second sensor on the door so that it can stop based on touching either side. >> right now 7 out of 40 new trains have upgraded sensors. muni says the new fleet, which went into service two years ago, has the highest safety standards. huge crowds expected to attend tomorrow's 4/20 smokeout celebration in golden gate park. city officials expect up to 20,000 people to converge on hippie hill for the event. that is about 10,000 less than last year. street closures and heavy traffic greatly impact those who live in the area.

into central san rafael. everybody is at the limit. it is very foggy there. give a heads-up. no metering lights so far this morning. we are looking at friday light with about 27-minute drive just under 30 minutes from hercules all the way into san francisco. green is good. we even have relatively light commute over the altamont pass. here is where it is still a bummer. we have this road work late picking up and the steel plates in the middle of the richmond/san rafael bridge and you are slow to under 30 miles an hour and then once you get past the tolls on to the span, things do pick up nicely. expect significant delays just getting to the toll plaza. let's take a look at what's going on with your weather. a look at the fog. it is accelerating i brie and o shoreline. we're looking north on emeryville here and you can see that's a sign that things are starting to get a little bit different outside. san jose, you have high clouds

and sunshine and temperature about 54 degrees. partly sunny with the warmth easing thanks to the return of the sea breeze. it gets more aggressive tonight along with a cold front that brings us fog and drizzle for tomorrow morning. and then the temperatures will tumble the greatest amount tomorrow before rebounding to even warmer levels next week. we have upper 70s to low 80s in the south bay. santa cruz, did you enjoy the sunshine and warm weather yesterday? not as much today. we start in the 77 degree range around palo alto and over to menlo park. low to mid-60s along the coast with mid to upper 60s in downtown south san francisco and sausalito. a nice day in the north bay. sitting in the sunshine. won't get too hot. we have mid-70s for most of the east bay shore. oakland, 73. fremont warmer at 77. and it may be uncomfortable in the sunshine in the east bay valley with most of us around 80 to 84 degrees. a lke tcklos mi50 let me show you what's going on. the cold front coming down and

everybody is at the limit here behaving nicely and across town on 280 right at the 17/880 overcrossing, the same. everybody is looking good with light drive conditions, about a nine-minute drive from downtown san jose into cupertino. first reports of an accident menlo park near marsh. that should say marsh not march. i will come back in a couple minutes with a new accident just being reported in hayward on 880 in just a few. thank you, sue. now back to our breaking news we've been tracking this morning from fremont. a deadly officer involved shooting. >> it happened just before as sky is over the scene right now. fremont police just wrapped up a news conference on the incident. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield was there. amy, we hear this all started when the suspect opened fire on an officer who was driving by. >> reporter: yeah, they're calling it an ambush.

police say this was an unfortunate situation, but there was no doubt in their mind that their officers were in danger and that they had to shoot and kill this man. police say one of their officers was driving on sick center drive in fremont last night -- he wasn't responding to a call. he was just heading to the police station. a man fired at his vehicle. they say it was out of nowhere and the officer was under attack. >> he noticed a lone male emerge from the east side of civic center, pointed a firearm and fired rounds at our officer. the officer's vehicle was actually struck by gunfire. the officer made an immediate u-turn, came to a stop, got out of his vehicle, deployed his rifle and engaged the suspect. the officer did fire at the suspect, and the suspect fell to the ground.

judiciary committee issued a subpoena for robert mueller's full report on the russia investigation. certainly something we expected to happen but a very big headline this morning just coming in. and this all as president trump continues to claim the report vindicates him. here is reporter serena marshall. >> reporter: a jubilant president trump. >> i'm having a good day, too. it was called no collusion, no obstruction. >> reporter: reacting to the long-awaited release of the mueller report. that's a far different reaction than he had the day the special counsel was appointed 22 months ago. the report detailing the president slumped pd back in his chair and said, oh, my god. this is terrible. this is the end of my presidency. i'm blanked. the nearly 450 had been page report outlined no evidence of a criminal conspiracy and russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. but on obstruction the special

counsel declaring if we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. instead robert mueller declined to clear the president on 11 possible instances of obstruction of justinding presi repeatedly try to intervene even pressured then white house counsel don mcgann to get mueller fired, an order he refused. a recurring theme, mueller writes, the president's efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the president declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests. mueller's own words suggesting it's now up to congress. democrats agree. >> the responsibility now falls to congress to hold the president accountable for his actions. >> reporter: and they want to hear directly from the man behind the report, robert mueller by the end of may. republicans, however -- >> i think generally people are ready to move on. >> reporter: on thursday the president tweeted out a "game of

sue tells me it gets slushy by noon. get out there early when it's a little bit better. >> thank you, mike. developing now a recovery effort for a missing boogie boarder. friends identify the victim as hayward high school senior naphtali moi moi. a rip tide pulled him out to sea at poplar beach yesterday afternoon. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is live with the latest. jobina? >> reporter: good morning. moi moi's friends say they last saw him facedown in the water. they were all here on spring break celebrating ahead of graduation when moi moi, a senior in hayward, and also we're learning he was a very gifted football player, an athlete that had big dreams and had a full ride scholarship to the universiy of wyoming. the san mateo county sheriff's office had two helicopters and two boats out here yesterday along with several family members and friends helping with the search that later turned into a recovery as moi moi was
