it burst into flam just after 1:30 this afternoon, drivers approaching the been eastern a toll plaza saw an alarming. a black smoke coming from a box truck fully engulfed in flames. the driver and the toll takers all escaped without injury and firefighters extinguished the blaze. but windows blew out, equipment appears to be in melt down mode. although the toll plaza structure appears to be intact. chp spokesperson brandon says they're investigating how long it will take to make repairs. huge boxes of goldfish crackers are the only sign of what the u-haul truck might have been carrying. traffic was diverted to the left and the right of the damaged toll booths.

justice, silence this afternoon as 70-year-old appeared before a judge for the first time. she's accused of killing her 3-year-old grandson. video cameras weren't allowed in the courtroom but this shows her appearing with the public defender and an interpreter. >> there is nothing we can do to bring him back but we'll do everything we can to make sure the person responsible is held accountable. >> police say it happen monday afternoon in the 700 block. officers responded to a 911 call after the boy's aunt came home from picking up her kids from school and found the boy unresponsive. he died about an hour later at a nearby hospital. new documents obtained by abc7 news revealed the toddler had been sick and taking medication in the days leading up to his death. she told family members the boy had vomited so she laid him down to rest will however, the district attorney's office said the 4-year-old witness witnessed the grandmother choking him.
