a different kind of police chase stopped traffic in louisiana in the middle there, two horses spotted near interstate 10. you see them there in that field. outside baton rouge yesterday morning officers were chasing them down on foot. it took about an hour to corral the animals and return them to their owner. no word on how they got loose. parishioners at a san diego church are sharing stories of an easter sunday scare. >> a navy veteran carrying a gun and her baby walked in and threatened to blow the church up. abc's will carr explains what happened next. >> reporter: authorities say this rambling video talking about religion appears to have been posted on social media by a mother. >> i've been experiencing -- >> reporter: a short time later

she allegedly walked into a packed easter sunday church service with her baby in one hand and a gun in the other while threatening to blow up the house of worship. >> she starts talking all this craziness about the rapture not being real and everyone's going to hell. >> reporter: the pastor quickly told 70 people inside the church to get out. >> she started pointing the gun at the baby. one of the older gentlemen grabbed it from her, then me and a couple of other men tackled her and got the baby away from her. >> reporter: police took 31-year-old anna conkey, a navy veteran, into custody. you can see an officer cradling her little boy. he was unharmed. her gun was unloaded. authorities did not find any explosives. that mother now faces a number of charges. authorities say they're looking into her mental health after taking both of her kids into protective custody. in los angeles, will carr, abc news. >> our thanks to will. the fef the detroi from the hospital after brain surgery. >> kelly stafford's operation to remove a benign tumor took 12 hours, twice as long as

pulling the country together. >> the hype was mostly aund the astronauts at that time. they were everywhere. >> we've thought of astronauts as typically male, typically white men. and so you'll notice that there are just simply not a lot of women in the room. >> my name is margaret hamilton. and in 1969 i was building onboard flight software for apollo missions. >> margaret hamilton literally wrote the code that made the lunar landing possible. and we didn't really know about these women at the time. >> at first i was the only woman that was hired to do onboard flight software. this guy that i worked with when i first got there, he said, how can you leave your daughter at home? and i just said to him, you do what's right for you, and i'll do what's right for me. the software had to be perfect. a person's life was at stake. meaning the astronaut's.

good morning, everyone. it's great to have you with us. janai norman was today years old when she found out the origin of the english muffin. >> he has to launch right into it so he can throw shade. >> yeah, i do. no, no, no. we're going to talk about that. will ganss is going to be along later. we begin with breaking news from sri lanka. the number of dead in sunday's terrorist bombings is 310. >> that sad update comes with the nation now in a state of emergency following the easter explosions. today has been designated a national day of new ish w believed to be one of the terrorists wearing a backpack moments before one of the explosions. 40 suspects are now under arrest. >> the violence exacted a tragic toll on denmark's richest man, billionaire retailer anders povlsen, who lost three of his four children. >> at least four victims are americans including a man from denver and a fifth grader from washington, d.c. here's abc's lana zak.

>> reporter: at least 24 people have now been arrested in connection with the easter sunday terror attacks in sri lanka. new security footage shows a man with a backpack believed to be one of the bombers approaching st. sebastian church just before the attack. hundreds killed at multiple sites. among the victims at least four americans. >> we mourn the loved ones of the victims, some of whom we can confirm were indeed u.s. citizens. this is america's fight too. >> reporter: the first american casualty to be named, dieter kowalski from denver. he was standing in line waiting for breakfast when the bomb went off. 11-year-old kieran shafritz de zoysa from washington, d.c. >> a brilliant mind who was going to be a neuroscientist. and -- and i -- and he's -- he won't make to it his 12th -- his 12th birthday. >> reporter: more explosives have been found around sri lanka. officials discovering dozens of detonators near colombo's main bus station and a six-foot long device near the main airport. another explosion outside st. anthony's shrine caused panic on monday.

as police attempted to defuse three bombs found in a van. >> we just heard the explosive, very loud, it was very loud and we were scared. >> reporter: sri lanka took an unusual step in shutting down all social media following the attacks in order to stem disinformation. kenneth, janai? >> our thanks to lana there in washington. an awful story. and just -- seeing that death toll climb is unimaginable, especially as you're hearing those stories. the man who lost three of his four children. it's heartbreaking. >> we're learning more about kieran, who was the student from washington, d.c. he attended sidwell friends, which we know in d.c. as a very prestigious school. the obama daughters, chelsea clinton went to this school. so many in the past 24 hours have been talking about the bright future this young man had. and so we're just thinking about the victims. obviously the investigation is ongoing. scary moments even in the past few hours there in that area as they're on high alert.

so just really frightening. moving on to politics, one of the top democrats running for president is weighing in on impeachment. >> california senator kamala harris says she supports congress moving toward impeachment of president trump, but other democrats, including top leadership, don't agree. she made the comments during a cnn town hall just hours ago. support for impeachment has been growing since the release of the mueller report which the president was asked about on monday. abc's jonathan karl has more. >> reporter: president trump flatly rejected a central theme of the mueller report, that time and time again his own top advisers refused to do what he asked. >> are you worried that your staff are ignoring your orders as the mueller report portrays? >> nobody disobeys my orders. >> reporter: but the mueller report documents multiple cases. chief among them, white house counsel don mcgahn who repeatedly rebuffed the president's directives to have robert mueller fired. mcgahn has been subpoenaed to appear before the house judiciary committee. he's just one of several aides who told mueller under oath that

they didn't follow the president's orders, leading the special counsel to write, the president's efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the president declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests. democrats are weighing a major decision to start the impeachment process or not. in a letter to members of the house, speaker nancy pelosi suggests impeachment may not be necessary. writing, we should proceed down a path of finding the truth. it is also important to know that the facts regarding holding the president accountable can be gained outside of impeachment hearings. regardless, the president says he's not concerned in the least. >> are you worried about impeachment, mr. president? >> not even a little bit. >> reporter: speaker of the house nancy pelosi conducted an hour-long conference call with democratic lawmakers to discuss the path forward regarding the various investigations into the president in the wake of the mueller report.

i am told that several democratic lawmakers said that they want to move forward now se the president, they are not ready to move forward with impeachment, at least no white house. sticking with politics, president trump also battling the release of his tax returns. >> he and his business are suing both the chairman of the house oversight committee and their accounting firm to block the release. democrat elijah cummings of maryland has subpoenaed eight years of returns from the accounting firm. republicans on the committee call the move an attempt to embarrass the president. police continue to focus the search for missing 5-year-old boy from his chicago suburban area home, calling it a crime scene. a.j. freund's parents say they last saw him at bedtime on wednesday night. his mother is no longer cooperating with investigators.

joanne cunningham is due in court today for a hearing to regain custody of another child removed from her. the family has a long history with the illinois department of well, a health alert t morning, the number of measles cases will likely break a yearly record in just four months. >> the cdc is reporting 71 new cases since last week. that brings the new total number to 626 this year. iowa and tennessee are now among the 22 states dealing with measles outbreaks. samsung is delaying the rollout of its highly anticipated galaxy fold smartphone after reviewers reported problems with screens that fold like a sandwich. it was scheduled to launch in the u.s. on friday for nearly $2,000. samsung is running more tests. no word yet on a new release date. the fda has approved the first medical device to treat children with adhd. it's designed for kids between the ages of 7 to 12 who are not on medication. users wear a small adhesive patch while they sleep. >> it delivers low-level electrical stimulation to parts of the brain. so far it's not covered by

insurance and may cost more than $1,000. well, the president, first lady and the easter bunny were on hand for all of the festivities at the 141st white house easter egg roll. in his opening remarks, the president touted his record to the kids. events included the traditional easter egg roll where children roll eggs with wooden spoons in a race. >> the day also featured "be best" hop-scotch and the first lady reading to kids. children also wrote postcards to family, friends, or service members. as the president sat with the kids one apparently told him, keep building that wall. from the mouths of babes. president trump responded, he's going to be a conservative someday. i think no matter where you stand on politics, it's interesting when kids get into it, they obviously hear us, they repeat things, something to keep in mind. these eggs signed by the president and first lady from last year's easter egg roll. prident thats?tarted in

they were all from the houston area, including the pilot, jeffrey weiss and marc telepsenn an entrepreneur active in local charities, and mark scioneaux, the husband of the houston ballet's artistic director. abc's marcus moore is in texas. >> reporter: investigators at the scene of this disaster, aerial footage shows a twisted and crumpled twin engine plane crashing just outside san antonio. >> there were six people on board including the pilot. >> reporter: all six killed in the mysterious crash. now the painstaking search for answers. according to authorities, the baron 58 had taken off from a small airport in houston and crashed just six miles from the kerrville airport. while on approach to landing. >> there's no trees but it is rocky, hilly. >> reporter: the pilot's communication never suggesting a problem. these are the last words heard on the recording. >> 2422, up to 6000 501 charlie echo.
