making news in america this morning, new details in those deadly easter attacks. possible suspects seen on surveillance video walking through two of the targets just moments before the bombs went off. a national day of mourning happening right now as we learn more about the americans killed in the explosions. taking on trump. front-runners in the race for 2020 blasting the president over the mueller report. >> we have the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country. >> the top five candidates face voters in a series of town halls as the debate grows amongst democrats. should the president face impeachment? break in the case. police releasing a sketch of the man they believe murdered two teenage girls in the woods of indiana.

>> we believe you are hiding in plain sight. >> why they say this video could be the key to finding the killer. plus, most important meal of the day, the new study that says skipping breakfast could be bad for your health. and i told you so, the unbelievable surprise this mom found after her daughter said there was something hiding in their closet. good tuesday morning. we begin with the death toll rising in sri lanka following the coordinated bombings on easter sunday. >> dozens of members of a local terror group are under arrest in connection and without offering proof the state minister say they are in retaliation for the new zealand mosque attack. >> at least 310 people are now dead with hundreds of other victims. among those victims killed, at least four americans including an 11-year-old boy from washington, d.c. overnight vigils stretched all the way back to the u.s. as we learn more about the

investigation into the attacks. a second wave of chaos in sri lanka. a van full of explosives discovered in the capital city just one day after a series of coordinated attacks left more than 300 people dead. >> a huge explosion just went off just around that corner there. >> reporter: abc's james longman was just yards away when the bombs went off. >> buildings around here, windows shattered. a huge scream went up from the crowd over there. you can see them running towards our position where we are now. police on high alert. we don't know what it was but that was absolutely terrifying. >> reporter: this search is part of the massive investigation into those deadly easter sunday bombings. dozens of sri lankan nationals already arrested but officials now say they are culprits had help from outside the country. police are reviewing these security videos broadcast on sri lankan tv. this man, purportedly one of the bombers, seen maneuvering the crowd while another angle shows him walking by worshippers at the st. sebastian church.

minutes later the roof of that church was blown completely off. among the dead are four americans including 40-year-old dieter kowalski who traveled from colorado to sri lanka for business and 11-year-old kieran shafritz de zoysa who was killed while waiting for breakfast. >> won't make it to his 12th birthday. >> reporter: kieran was about to start seventh grade and wanted to be a neuroscientist. >> they have no idea. they just blew themselves up. they have no idea. no idea. his story should be told. >> reporter: the fbi is now assisting sri lankan authorities in the investigation as reports plague officials claiming they ignored warnings about an imminent attack. and we're now learning that a memo was sent to local authorities with the ominous title, information of an alleged planned attack. many are now asking whether that threat was taken seriously. now to washington and house democrats are split over what's

next after the mueller report. >> some are calling for impeachment proceedings against president trump to begin and others are being more cautious. >> abc's mona kosar abdi joins us with more. good morning, mona. >> reporter: good morning, kenneth. good morning, janai. now, top democrats are not taking the issue of impeachment off the table. what they are saying is that there are other ways to hold the president accountable. as democrats focus on next steps following the mueller report, the party faces a grave dilemma over impeaching president trump, an issue causing a deep divide in the democratic party as the calls to begin proceedings grows among rank and file members. yet the party's top leaders caution against it. >> he's not worth it. >> reporter: in an hour long phone call with party members monday, house speaker nancy pelosi advised against impeachment while making it clear that democrats will continue to investigate the president's actions. this as the democratic led house judiciary committee subpoenaed former white house counsel don mcgahn calling him a critical witness about whether trump

obstructed justice. on the campaign trail, the 2020 democratic presidential candidates also weighing in during a cnn town hall. >> so i believe very strongly that president trump should be held accountable. >> reporter: minnesota senator amy klobuchar pushing for congressional hearings but falling short of calling for impeachment, but senators kamala harris and elizabeth warren took a different stance. >> this president and his administration engaged in obstruction of justice, i believe congress should take the steps towards impeachment. >> reporter: meanwhile, president trump claims democrats have no grounds to impeach adding he's not concerned in the least. >> are you worried about impeachment, mr. president? >> not even a little bit. >> reporter: and those house investigations are going full force. last week the house judiciary committee formally requested that special counsel robert mueller testify in front of congress and the american people no later, janai and kenneth, than may 23rd. >> and people are expecting that to be a blockbuster day of testimony from mueller. mona, thank you.

so so, this was not a planned demolition. this apartment building in istanbul, turkey, collapsed when a retaining wall at a nearby abandoned construction site gave way. founatel injured because a dozen rey been watching that go down, crazy video. indiana police are offering new information from their investigation of the murder of two teenage girls. abby williams and libby german were killed two years ago while their hometown of delphi. authorities asked the public to scrutinize new video of the

attack on himself. a federal judge delayed setting a trial day for theranos founder elizabeth holmes. holmes was in a california courtroom on monday as prosecutors push for a date. she's accused of scheming investigators out of millions claiming her lab technology could detect hundreds of diseases from a drop of blood. holmes faces 20 years in prison and a $2 million fine. two major federal benefits programs are running out of money. a government report says starting next year social security will take in less money than it hands out. nothing will be left by 2035. medicare will go broke much sooner. seven years from now. the major problem is that more baby boomers are becoming eligible for the benefits but not as many people are replacing them in the workforce. samsung is postponing the release of its highly anticipated galaxy fold smartphone. that's after reviewers reported problems with those screens that fold like a sandwich. others say the phone simply stopped working after a couple of days of use.

are my kids. >> reporter: the boy's parents say they last saw aj when they put him to bed wednesday night.h himo innocence but has hired an attorney and is refusing to cooperate with police. >> i realize that the police consider her to be a suspect. based on that i advised ms. cunningham to remain silent at that point. >> reporter: after using sonar to search a nearby lake and k9 units, police say they have so far only picked up aj's scent inside the residence. investigators do not believe the boy was abducted or wandered away. aj's father met with police over the weekend. >> aj, please come home. we love you very much. >> that was paula faris reporting. illinois child services has investigated the family before. aj was removed from the home for a year and a half when he was a baby, and today aj's mom will be in court trying to regain custody of his little brother who was taken after aj

disappeared last week. statistics surrounding two childhood diseases are raising health concerns. the cdc reports there have been more than 600 cases of measles this year including 70 since last week. the agency says the u.s. could break a yearly record by the end metis outbreaks are being reported in washington state, michigan and indiana. 20 cases have been reported at indiana university's main campus. the school expects that number to rise. a new study appears to confirm that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. researchers say skipping the first meal increases stroke and heart risks and regularly ditching breakfast can increase the risk of heart disease by as much as 87%. the study also found that people who never ate breakfast were more likely to be obese and have high cholesterol. >> and those nice pictures you saw were from the breakfast we have here. new overnight, sacramento kings head coach luke walton is being accused of sexual assault.

a female sports reporter claims walton assaulted her in 2016 in a los angeles area hotel. according to a lawsuit she filed, the alleged incident took place while he was an assistant with the golden state warriors. it's not known if that case was reported to police. the kings say they're aware of the report and are gathering more information. walton's attorney calls the claims baseless. the wife of the detroit lions quarterback says this weekend was the beginning of a new life for her. kelly stafford is now home after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from her brain. it was only supposed to take six hours but instead the surgery lasted 12. the tumor called an acoustic neuroma was cancerous but caused -- wasn't cancerous but caused dizziness. coming up on "good morning america," dr. jen ashton walks us through the surgery that saved stafford's life. chalk up a playoff sweep for the nba's best regular season team. milwaukee finished off detroit last night in game four of their series. 127-104 was the final. next up for the bucks they try
