we are standing a few hundred feet from the first sign of that crash. two bikes on their sides. shoes across the sidewalk. and no sign the driver ever tried to stop. >> eight people on this sunnyvale sidewalk, out on a warm tuesday night. around 6:40 p.m., a man plowed through at el camino real and saratoga road. the group was possibly target by the driver, a man they believe purposely turned into the group driving full speed. >> it looks like it might have been an intentional act. the driver is in custody. >> eight victims were taken to the hospital. the youngest, a then-year-old girl. dps says some victims suffered serious injuries. witnesses stay driver made no effort to stop. >> we have witness statemets that showed the vehicle did not attempt to show down or break. and that the scene itself doesn't show any kind of evidence of breaking. >> the crime scene extends about a half block down el camino real. those who live in the area say

it is a busy intersection surrounded by homes and businesses. >> people are just walking to get to these restaurants. and food places and grocery stores, rather than getting in their car and driving there. >> it is unclear whether the driver knew any of the victims. investigators are looking into a possible motive. >> it is a lot. very unusual, city of sunnyvale. it is a very safe city. to hear about a tragedy like this is unheard of. >> reporter: and he says investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a part in this crash. i'm reporting in sunnyvale, abc7 news. >> thank you so much. we have new details now with a skateboarder killed in san francisco. you can see on the map where a truck hit the man along seventh street between mission and howard street. some witnesses told police the skateboarder may have been holding on to the truck that hit him before he was killed. a friend at the scene told us the victim is pablo ramirez who is well known in the skate

boarding community. the truck driver is cooperating with investigators. >> building a better bay area means that we dedicate more time to issues that affect you. that includes homelessness and the potential solutions to the problem. after months of heated public debate, the port commission voted unanimously to approve a new navigation central on their property, along the embarcadero. kate larson was at that overflow meeting. this may not be the end of the debate, right? >> reporter: dan, that's absolutely right. in fact neighbors who are against the navigation center warned of a legal fight that they intend to take on. and then the port commissioner said tonight at the meeting that this won't be settle here, meaning the meeting. it will be settled in the courts. >> after almost four hours of public comment, the san francisco port commission voted and approved an agreement with the department of homelessness in support of housing to operate a temporary navigation central

along the embarcadero. >> i think it will be a good step forward for our efforts to address homelessness. >> he is the director. it will be the seventh in the city located in this parking lot under the bay bridge at beal street. >> this is a good temporary solution to provide a respite from the street and hope play the platform to move beyond homelessness. >> jordan davis was one of dozens of san franciscans who pleaded with them. he now lives in a small unit in the tender loin and credits them for saving his life. >> create a low barrier shelter. it was pretty lenient. it met me where i was at and i was able to get my life back on track. >> people passionately for and against the center showed up at the ferry building to voice their concerns. jean lyons lives one block from the site. like many she's concerned about the future safety of her neighborhood. >> people who are drug addicts that are allowed to live there,

the sun went down at 7:53. other than a few high thin wispy clouds, we didn't have any fog to speak of but it was a beautiful sunset. signaling that we were starting to see some changes getting underway. you're not going to feel it so much in our inland areas tomorrow. it is going to be unseasonably warm to hot once again. so take a look at the temperature trend. tomorrow afternoon, getting to 90 degrees. notice drop. 82 thursday. 85 on friday. back to 82. you will notice even lower temperatures as we head toward sunday, monday, and tuesday. so coming closer to average by then. a hive look from our east bay his camera. we can see all the way back toward san francisco from that van tang point. you want to escape the heat? here's the place you need to go. the coast. tomorrow it will be noticeably cooler at the coast. 66, pacifica, monday ray, 73, 78

degrees. certainly lower than the temperature you experienced today. we do have one little lonely patch of fog, dropping the visibility in half moon bay. five miles. we'll be seeing the temperatures go down. look at the. 60s, physical for many part of the area. half moon bay is the only exception. a sparking san francisco. you will notice the heat holds on inland. the koog trend continues through the morning. tomorrow morning a mild start for most of the bay area. you can heave your jacket behind. a little fog near the coastline there. half moon bay, point southward so watch out. visibility will be low. we have what is known as offshore flow, a down sloping wind. bringing the warm air from the land to the ocean. we'll notice a reversal.

the wind will come off the cooler ocean aware. and as it comes on shore, it will knock the temperatures down. most noticeable at the coast. notland areas will notice it on thursday. so south bay temperatures tomorrow afternoon. 88 in morgan hi. 86, sunnyvale. 63, pacifica. down san francisco, 76 degrees. 67 in daly city. north bay, mid 60s. 87, santa rosa. 86 in sonoma. still unseenbly warm. 80 in owing. head inland. 88 in livermore. the accuweather seven day forecast, still hot inland. cooler everywhere thursday. friday, we'll see the temperatures dropping back to average. by sunday, 50s to 70s. you'll feel the difference. until then, tomorrow would be a good day to head west toward the coast. >> all right. sounds good.
