thank you god. based on the evidence at the scene, it appears he intentionally ran over the pedestrians. >> abc7 news reporter chris has been following this story and is live in sunnyvale. >> reporter: we've been waiting to hear from law enforcement throughout the entire day. just as the chief was releasing his statement, a department spokesperson came out to address the journalists to give new information on this case. we've learned of the eight victims involved, a 13-year-old remains in critical condition at a local hospital. the suspect now facing a number charges including attempted murder. >> we are recommending eight counts of attempted murder based upon the evidence that we obtained from the scene. all evidence indicates this was an intentional act, that the driver purposely sped up, ran into the crosswalk and purposely tried to hit the pedestrians.

there were eight total victims. significance of which ended up at the hospital. the 13-year-old victim has the most major industries. she is a sunnyvale she is in critical condition. >> reporter: we're learning more information about the suspect and where he lived in sunnyvale. new this afternoon law enforcement released this photo of isaiah joe peoples of sunnyvale. he is accused of plowing his toyota into a crowd of pedestrians at el camino real. eight people were injured including a girl. this view from sky 7 shows detectives serving a search warrant on peoples' apartment in sunnyvale. they used an axe on the balcony to gain entry. a major nangs worker said he had minimal interaction with peoples but had no reason to believe anything was suspicious. >> i never saw him with bad

you can see he grabs on from accident. >> a surveillance camera captures the final bloy 26-year ramirez. after grabbing ahold of the truck, he travels down one block. towed by the truck the entire time. and just before reaching mission street, just out of the frame, is where the accident happens. you can see cars behind them suddenly stopping. sky 7 was over the scene as investigators arrive with ramirez lying in the middle of the street bleeding. fatally wounded. police at the scene told abc7 news, some witnesses have reported seeing ramirez skate hitching. there was no confirmation. but today, after abc7 news told them about the video, this is what they had to say. >> we're looking into information to confirm how the

wrong place, wrong time. someone ran up and shot me. the bullet went to my chest, through both my lungs, shattering my spinal cord. i woke up on christmas to learn i would never walk or talk. when i woke up weeks later, i promised myself i wouldn't take my voice for granted and i would use it for something powerful. when i was in the hospital, i came you with the idea to start a foundation to bring light to promote a peaceful message. to work for the inner city needs. i grew up here in the san leandro area. i grew up at the boys and girls club. i love sports. i love helping people. i'm a volunteer and a coach. i feel the next generation coming up, they need to most love and attention. and they can be the change. so life goes on.

so the foundation is to raise awareness because it is my goal to be back on my feet to walk. the time i met a guy like stephen curry, it was after one of his games. and i went up to him with a pamphlet and a wrist band and told him my story and my foundation. k.d. is great. when he first came here from okc, met him, talked to him about the story and the foundation. klay thompson has played wheelchair basketball with us before. and for a while, i thought that i would never be an athlete again. >> okay. i want to give it back. at first okay, there is no sport like wheelchair basketball. it is not real of then i saw how physical it was. how fast they were on the court. i'm just grateful that every day i can wake up.

>> let's back up. let's go over these in a little more depth. let's talk about the employment scam. what is it and why is it so hurtful? >> it is hurtful in many ways. one thing we found with our 2018 study which really surprised us, it was really, really enlightening, to see the impact hit on various age groups. out of the inspection we do a report on, three were impacted heavily. and it impacts veteran fils as well as the immediate veterans themselves and also students. >> so it is really across the board. >> across the board. >> let's talk about, i assume the online scam is you order something, you don't get it. or it is not the correct item. so the next scam you talk about was the fake check scam. this is big. explain it.

you're going to receive a check in the mail from a legitimate bank. you're going to think, i earned some money and i'll deposit it. as a condition i'll send the money back. >> so they say, we're sending you this money. this is for a table we're buying from you. we're oversending you the check. second us part of the money back. >> that's part of the equation. they'll also mix scams a little bit as part of the employment scam that impacts students, for example. there was one student who gave up her old tigs money thinking she was working for a legitimate brand, thinking it would lead to a full-time job as well. >> the employment scams. the number one thing i tell people of the and i want you to do it. you don't pay money to get a job. they pay you money of. >> correct. i think you have to do your due diligence. look at the company website.

heart disease as well as cancer. instagram is all the rage. for some these photos of amazing vacations can cause vacation envy. now there is a business called fake a vacation which allows you to do just that. it is a nebraska based company. they will superimpose pictures of you on back drops of hawaii, the grand canyon, other popular places. your image goes here. nuts. officials with fake a vacation say their clients stage it because they want to have travel pictures on facebook and instagram. others do it because they had to cancel their actual vacations. in a recent survey, about 10% of people admitted to putting fake travel pictures. >> what happens if somebody asks you about your vacation? >> it looked like it must have been fun.
