let's get up and get going. >> this is abc 7 mornings. >> it's saturday, may 4th. good morning. thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a look at the forecast. here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking the forecast. >> good morning. the low clouds and fog have filled in overnight, not everywhere and not reaching the east bay yet, but as we widen, this is an area of low pressure that will influence the weather perhaps bringing us a few light showers and it's 50 in the city and 46 in cloverdale. 53 in san jose and that's

emoriville right there. clouds will cling to the coast today. it will be a cooler afternoon and it will be breezy along the shoreline, but as we get to the morning hours, roads with fog. we'll see a mostly sunny day and temperatures climbing inland and around the bay we'll have in and near 70 degree, but the coast will stay cool. we'll talk about the chance of clouds, increasing showers for the upcoming workweek in a few minutes. >> breaking news. a deadly, fiery crash involving a tour bus on highway 101 in south san francisco has shut down all northbound lanes. it happened just before 12:45 this morning near the sierra point parkway exit. fire officials say two people were taken to the hospital. their injuries are unknown. 19 other people were treated at the scene. it's unclear what happened, but the chp says the tour bus and at least two other cars caught fire. traffic is being diverted to the bay shore boulevard off ramp.

there is no estimated time for when lanes will reopen. >> developing news. investigators are looking into why a plane skidded off the runway and into the water in jacksonville, florida. take a look at that plane upright in shallow water. 143 people were onboard. officials say no one was seriously injured. >> we had a really hard landing and then the plane bounced and screeched and bounced some more and then it listed to the right and then it listed to the left and then it sort of swerves and then it came to a complete like a crash stop. >> the flight originated from guantanamo bay and was headed to naval air station jacksonville and that's where the boeing 737 went off the runway and into st. john's river. officials say this flight was contracted by the department of defense. it's a regularly scheduled flight for military and civilian

personnel. nas jacksonville says 136 passengers and seven crew members were onboard. 21 adults and some with minor injuries were taken to hospital. >> as i was enroute here, i heard that we had no critical injuries to say that i was wiping sweat off my brow would be, of course, an understatement. >> the mayor of jacksonville says president trump called to offer help as the situation was first developing. federal ntsb investigators are on their way to the crash site. there's no indication of what led to the runway skid at this point, but there had been thunderstorms in the area. crews had also been looking to contain jet fuel that was leaking into the river. we found a push alert right after the plane skidded off the runway, you can enable push alerts to have breaking news sent directly to your mobile device. time now is 5:03. >> more disturbing graffiti was

found in a california high school in san ramon, this time with the words may 9th and the use of a racial slur. though threats were actually made. it was found on the wall of a shack on the football field. a threatening message was discovered in a bathroom that also mentioned may 9th. >> building a better bay area doesn't come without growing pains. one of the difficult issues we're focusing on is homelessness. a massive, unsanctioned homeless encampment is no more. a court-ordered eviction for hundreds of the visible camp on highway one in river street. amanda del castillo has the details. >> dozens of tents remain in santa cruz, but most of the people who live here are gone. the homeless spent all of friday moving belongings from the unsanctioned encampment. billy lowery is one of hundreds who have established a home here, an area ruled to be unfit

for people to be living in. >> as you see it was unhealthy, dangerous. i can see that. >> tensions ran higher when a small explosive device went off inside the camp early friday. the police and fire chief believe it was intentionally detonated. >> we are in the process of investigating the type of device as well as the intent and the people associated with it. >> advocating for those back on city streets is council member drew glover. when it comes to the issue of homelessness, wealth distribution, what is the long-term plan? more than 60 spots have made place in river street and there is pushback. the homeless say they don't want restrictions on how they should live, so the question is where. >> if the site had been structured in a way that was in line with the fire code and with health and safety codes from the beginning then we could see this being a thriving and positive

space. >> santa cruz county has long struggled for the homeless population now estimated at 2200, making it one of the highest in the country. >> where do you move from here? >> i don't know. >> the fire chief says once everyone is out, completely heavy equipment will be brought in to help clear the area. in santa cruz, i'm amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. >> we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area. share them by building a better bay area on facebook. you. >> details of the parents of one woman that paid almost $6 million to help her get into standard. >> i thought you could always achieve the things you want if you try hard. >> this 2017 video emerged yesterday showing her speaking mandarin about how hard it is to get an american college.

federal prosecutors have send her a letter to say that she's a possible target of her investigation and that usually means a grand jury is reviewing the evidence. it's being called a milestone in the battle against hiv and aids. a landmark study found with proper treatment that is no chance of spreading virus. >> it's the potential aids cure. >> if your virus is completely controlled by hiv medications then someone who is hiv-positive like me cannot pass the virus on to an hiv-negative partner. this is huge. >> he is the first hiv-positive public official. he has lived with the virus for 22 years. the study conducted by the university college of london looked at a thousand male couples in europe where one partner had hiv. at the end of the eight-year study the virus was not

transmitted and the hiv-positive patients were using the antiretroviral therapy to suppress the aids virus. the virus was suppressed to such a low level that the person is not infectious anymore. now what is so important is, of course, getting everybody tested. those who are positive, getting them under treatment. >> dr. silverman led the department of public health in the '80s. during the aids epidemic in san francisco he said this is the major step. >> are we getting closer to a cure? >> well, i think we are. the american foundation for aids research of which i'm a part of is spending $100 million over the past four years and for another year to try and come up with a cure. >> so how close is close? dr. silverman predicts that the cure for aids could be found in the next year. luz pena, abc 7 news. the oakland unified school district says the problem of lead in tap water is almost

fixed. pool officials announced they have replaced those with dangerous lead levels. the problem was discovered in 2016 when water tested at the high school showed high levels of lead. an investigation later found 22 more school his water with lead. >> off of grand avenue in oakland, whereas you can see there is a brand-new mural here. we will meet the people behind the project. ♪ ♪ >> it is my community, and our community. we brought people together and that's why i wanted to create this. >> timothy painted this mural of nipsey hussle in just two days. the grammy-nominated rapper was gunned down outside his clothing store in march and his death shook fans across the country. >> he freed himself, came back

president trump and russian president vladimir putin had a lengthy phone call yesterday. it comes not long after the special counsel's report said he found sweeping election meddling efforts by the russians. the president was asked if he confronted putin about the issues in the mueller report. >> so we had a good conversation about many different things okay? [ inaudible question ] >> we didn't discuss that. >> democratic congresswoman jackie speier visited abc 7 and says the phone call raises new suspicions as the country gets deeper into the 2020 election cycle. >> did they spend the hour on the phone talking about how vladimir putin could be helpful to the president in his next run for the presidency? >> republicans have sent a

letter to robert mueller asking if he'd like to talk about his conversation with attorney general bill barr regarding the is imry of the mueller report. >> new this morning spacex has successfully launched its falcon 9 rocket after a series of delays. >> three, two, one, zero. and liftoff of the falcon 9 rocket in dragon spacecraft. the rocket is carrying hardware, equipment and science experiments to resupply the international space station. the launch was originally scheduled for earlier this week and then rescheduled to yesterday. both were delayed due to electrical issues and it is set to dock at the iss tomorrow. now to the alarming moment -- >> this hard to watch video, a newborn baby slipping out of a doctor's hand and dropping head first. baby morgan rogers quickly caught by other attendants in the room. her father derek rogers capturing the moment after his twin daughters were born.

>> it made me so mad. i had to stop recording. >> the doctor never apologized. >> he had a nonchalant look on his vase as i showed him the video and he had nothing to say after that. >> an ultrasound revealed morgan had a small brain hemorrhage. >> she does this, like, tensing up and her body kind of shakes. >> the hospital has released a statement saying the safety of our patients and their families is always our top concern. >> now the parents are waiting until august for a neurologist to examine morgan, but according to medical expert, the kind of hemorrhage she has is common among premature babies and likely won't lead to any long-term effects. abc news, los angeles. road crews are plowing through eight feet of snow in yosemite national park. the snow pack in the river basin was an impressive 149% of last year meaning crews will put in extra work to clear out the snow. operators face a variety of

and maybe even a few showers. right now temperatures look like this in the 50s around the bay and 53 over in oakland and it's 50 in san francisco and half moon bay and 47 in fremont. good morning to you, san jose, 53 degrees. here's our roof camera and it's quiet out there. morning louds and patchy fog will be breezy and cooler over the weekend and light showers are possible sunday night. so as the system is offshore, we can see the showers from san francisco on south, but as it pushes ashore, maybe even some sprinkles to the north. we'll get to that in just a moment, but today in napa cooler than the average of 75. we dropped down with the passage of that low tomorrow. behind it on monday and then temperatures will rebound into the low 70s on tuesdaynd upper 70s throughout the rest of the week. so as we look at our clouds this morni mo morning you'll notice they're

into the north bay and mostly sun owe tap and the low clouds and fog advanced inland. by 11:30 we have more cloud cover by the bay area and then by the evening hours, yes, you can see the rotation and the counter clockwise rotation spinning showers perhaps into your late sunday and early monday. it won't be much if we do see anything and if we look at the totals here you can see very scant and most of them could be in the peninsula and accumulating rain into the north bay and it looks more aggressive than i would think, but we'll see what happens. 76 in san jose and 59 in san mateo. nice afternoon. it will be cool at the coast and limited sun here, upper 50s and maybe a few peaks and ks and ksd by the water in va yeblg on and on the east bay, look for 67 in oakland and berkeley and 71 in

union city and head inland and a mild afternoon and it will be cooler than yesterday and 77 in pittsburgh and 76 in livermore. our accuweather seven-day forecast and 50s in the coast with the breezy conditions and low 70s in the bay and upper 70s inland and you could be tracking live doppler 7 with the chance of showers late tomorrow night into mnonday morning and notice we will see sun every day with cooler conditions later in the week and looking interest and way too far out to pinpoint that and another system looks like it may want to visit us, but in the meantime, feeling like spring and certainly not as warm as it has been. >> definitely a spring-like forecast. >> just ahead. it's a prom night these teens will never forget. why it's all thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

we're starting this half hour with a quick look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking the conditions where you live. >> hi, chris. we are tracking the low clouds, fog, stratus and the marine layer growing taller since the overnight hours and as a result, that has brought the clouds across the bay. right now it is 52 degrees in campbell and we go up towards the north bay. upper 40s there and 48 for you over in danville and looking at

the cloud cover this morning. you can see it all looj the shoreline. this is 9:00, 7:00 and as we go through the rest of the morning hours you'll see the roads back to the coastline and it will be cool and breezy. noon time, we're in the 60s in hayward and temperatures climbing through the 70s throughout the afternoon. it will not be as warm inland and it will be breezy at the coast and we'll talk about more cloud cover for your sunday. chris? >> thank you. breaking news out of south san francisco, a deadly, fiery crash involving a tour bus on highway 101 has shut down all northbound lanes. it happened just before 12:45 this morning near the sierra point parkway exit. fire officials say two people were taken to the hospital. their injuries are unknown and 19 other people were treated at the scene. it is unclear what happened, but the chp says the tour bus and at least two other cars caught fire and traffic is being diverted off the bay shore boulevard

offramp and no estimated time for when lanes will reopen. in the north bay pg&e are warning napa residents to plan for power shutdowns this summer and fall to prevent wildfires. according to the napa valley register, officials expect the outages to expect four or five times between july and november. that's when there is a high wind warning. more than 25,000 miles of electrical lines will be impacted. pg&e says it will try to send alerts 48 hours before shutting off power. >> authorities across multiple cities say a woman posing as a fake nanny has a criminal history targeting parents dating back to the 1970s. she's now in jail and expected to appear on new charges next week. >> melanie woodrow has the latest. >> this is alleged fake nanny darlene montecalvo. she's accused of scamming real nannies and unsuspecting families in multiple cities with a criminal history dating all of

the way back to 1978. >> i wouldn't want her in my house watching my children. >> this is montecalvo in court in 2004. a family looking to hire montecalvo did some digging and discovered the credentials she was hiring matched another nanny. montecalvo posed as a real nanny and get all of the other nannies' personal information and provide that information to families she was interviewing with to be a nanny. the information she would give those families was real, verifiable on trufst line and a database of nannies that have cleared in california. >> it would be nice to have trust line to help prevent this from happening because with the name and driver's license you can get away with a light. >> abc news reached out to trust line for comment. montecalvo is expected to appear in alameda court on charges of identity theft and cruelty to a 2-month-old child by inflicting injury. >> she may be trying to scam her

way into your house. >> investigators encourage parents to be careful who they let in their home and nannies to be cautious about giving out their personal information. >> the alameda county sheriff's office say she has not picked up montecalvo from the detention center yet. they believe she was acting alone, but that would change. melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. the oakland athletics are set to sign a term sheet about leasing howard terminal to build a new waterfront ballpark. the commission says a fuhr hoff ye four-year commitment gives four years to get necessary land use and real estate proposals. the as want to lease 50 achers to build a 35,000 feet stadium. annual rent for the land could be $3.8 million for the first 20 years. happening today, cinco de mayo celebrations will take place across the bay area. ♪ ♪

welcome back. today is free comic book day. more than 5 million comics will be handed out today. the annual event was founded on the belief that there is a comic book for every person out there. 51 free titles will be available today. some shops are hosting community events including costume contests, and drawings by guest artists. dozens of shops across the bay area are taking part. in the east bay the bay area book festival will be held in berkeley, sky 7 were overhead as tents were up at civic center park and events will take place here both today and tomorrow and this is the fifth annual festival and 35,000 people are expected to attend. sales gp and they're the fastest catamarans around the world and six different countries are competing including team usa.
