on the tarmac during yesterday's imagine landing. the wheels on aeroflot flight collapsed and the plane burst into flames. why many passengers could not escape. >> the problem in this crash was that the back end of the airplane was on fire. and so the escape chutes, the escape doors in the back of the airplane were not usable. >> the plane was headed away from moscow. it was forced to turn back about half an hour into the flight and there were concerns about this particular russian made jet called the super jet 100. a crash involving the jet in indonesia in 2012. russia has struggled to sell it. experts are concerned about the plane's parts and maintenance. again, we're still waiting on the three theories what exactly happened in the crash. so we'll be watching throughout the morning for you. >> that's terrible. jessica, thank you. it is now coming up on 4:31.

if you're just waking up to us, good morning. a quick update on your weather and traffic. >> good morning. remember that chance of rain we were talking about last week? there it is. you see bohemian highway, bodega highway. a light shower right now. if you look to the south, .03 of an inch of rain fell overnight. you can see it's definitely a little damp. we're looking north. temperatures running in the upper 40s to mid-50s. by 9:00 this is all, for the most part, over. the clouds will start to open by noon. even with any sunshine today, cool like yesterday. 60s for the rest of us. by 7:00 we'll be barely around 60 degrees. hey, alexis. good morning. just one incident on the board so far this morning. a couple more details for this

crash on state route 237 merge, a crash involving a big rig and a sedan. thas one rear-ended in the situation and they do have emergency crews on the scene. again, just one lane blocked. right now no major delays. dublin to mission boulevard in the green at 14. 16-minute drive between highway 101 and cupertino. developing this morning drivers for uber and lyft are planning to strike in cities across the country this week including san francisco to protest conditions and payment. >> this comes as uber gears up for its ipo on friday. jobina fortson is live with when you might need to find a different ride. jobina? >> reporter: good morning. the strike is scheduled for wednesday and uber/lyft drivers have a list of demands, a livable wage and also a cap on the company's commission.

drivers want to guarantee that at least 80% to 85% of proceeds from the car go to the driver. they feel their working conditions are geared to corporate level employees. the director of the new york et's investors are telling uber and lyft to cut down on driver income, stop incentives and go faster to driverless cars. while some are set to walk away with billions, some drivers will be left bankrupt. uber is the latest so-called tech unicorn poised to go public. lyft make its debut in march. several people rely on uber and lyft to come and go. for now reporting live from sfo, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. appreciate it, jobina, thank you. the alabama choir whose tour bus was involved in a deadly crash on highway 101 in brisbane early saturday performed in san francisco last night.

mother of one of the victims to testify as well as one of the survivors claiming their emotional testimony would prejudice the jurors. happening today b.a.r.t.'s homeless outreach team will concentrate efforts at two stations in the mission district starting today. the team will focus on the 16th street and 24th street missions with the goal of relocating homeless people out and into social services and will try to put them into single home occupancy and connect them with church programs. there's a push to name the central subway for a woman who helped shape chinatown. some leaders say that's a mistake. will be handed out today. >> there is a spaciaex capsule its way to the international space station. first, it is 4:36. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast.

we'll go about three hours back and here is a look at live doppler seven. put it in motion and you can see it rotated off the coast and around monterey and up in the north bay where we're going to have our best chance the next couple hours of wet weather. as you head down 680 and on 24. we'll say fair for everything this morning because of the damp ness that is out there. let's take a look at our 12-hour planner for the north bay. by 7:00 for the most part the drizzle is over. it will be patchy. you can see the clouds opening at 9:00 and then a mixture of more clouds than sunshine with temperatures trying to get into the mid-60s this afternoon. the east bay, cloudy and we'll break out in a little sunshine. wel we'll be cloudy and will have a mixture of clouds and sunshine

jose but that's lake tahoe's forecast for mother's day weekend. a chance of showers friday and mother's day sunday. the spacex dragon capsule has arrived at the international space station ready to dock after it launched on friday. the so-called grappling process will take at least two hours. it's expected to begin at 7:00 a.m. nasa says a robotic arm will be used to attack the capsule. the cargo ship took off from cape canaveral late friday after a series of delays carrying 5,500 pounds of research, cargo and supplies that nasa says will help support dozens of investigations aboard the iss. a canadian astronaut will operate the robotic arm this morning. the entire crew will be helping in the process of unpacking all of the cargo. we'll be watching. back to you. a safety alert on boeing 737 max planes is not operational. now we are learning boeing

failed to tell il deadly crash in indonesia last year. the safety alert warns about the malfunction in the lion air crash and the ethiopian airlines crash. the function was on in previous versions of the 737 but was switched off in the 737 max. boeing says planes can be flown safely without the alert. boeing says the alert will be turned back on before 737 max planes are flown again. a battle is shaping up over whether special counsel robert mueller testifies before congress in the coming weeks. in a tweet president trump said he shouldn't testify because the report he wrote was conclusive there was no collusion. a member of the house judiciary committee says mueller is tentatively set to testify may 15th. democrats and the special counsel are still negotiating and democrats are hoping mueller will provide more details about his investigation into russian

meddling in the 2016 election. chinatown leaders and merchants are protesting the proposed name for the neighborhood's new subway station. a supervisor introduced a resolution to name it after an advocate and political activist rose pak who died in 2016. they say pak was a notorious power broker who put together political deals to further her own interests and not those of the people. the transit agency said it would cnsider feedback from the chinatown community. in the north bay results of a half billion dollar study which looks at ways to expand smart train service, expanding to napa and solano counties and connecting smart train service to amtrak. the cost would be a billion dollars. santa clara county will unveilew progrf waed ons. the eill l pein, no questions asl is to feaut t of

contain milk which is not indicated on the product best buy dates. so far no illnesses have been reported. there's still a lot of confusion and frustration following saturday's bizarre finish at the kentucky derby. the horse that won the race, maximum security, was disqualified for questionably crossing into the lane of other horses. that meant a long shot country house went home with the roses instead. maximum security's co-owner says he's considering an appeal. he will see a replay of the suspected interference on thursday. even president trump weighed in. police are zeroing in on bicycle and pedestrian safety. extra officers will patrol intersections where bicycle and pedestrian-related collisions have been a problem in the past. they'll watch for drivers who speed, make illegal turns and fail to stop. the city is trying to end traffic related deaths by 2024.

"avengers: endgame" has now passed "titanic" and is closing in on avatar's record earnings. its second week pushed "endgame's" total to $2 billion right behind avatar. so it took avatar 47 days to hit the $2 billion mark.
