and evidence has been linked to him. >> let's get to new details in a fire coming out of berkley. this morning, smoke and flames chased about a dozen people from their home on hearst avenue. firefighters say it was a tough battle. >> cornell bernard is live with details. >> reporter: firefighters here at station two said there were lots of fuels inside that home, wh dich ficu to out w pplusg night. a rude awakening for people living inside this home on hearst avenue in berkley. >> just a lot of black smoke and some flames. >> reporter: neighbors watched firefighters battle the two-alarm fl two-alarm blai two-alarm blaze. >> it was already going through the attic space when we arrived. >> reporter: luckily the residents made it out on their own. in fact, all 12 people living

shooting of a liquor store clerk earlier this week. officers returned fire, hitting both the driver and suspect. the bloody woman, as you can see, gets out of the car and surrenders, then police hit the car with flash bang grenades before a k-9 goes in whipping the driver back and forth. homeland security discovered illegal assault rifles inside a home. the owner faces charges including illegal manufacture of weapons. he was booked into the san mateo county jail. state lawmakers kicked off a campaign in san francisco today to make sure elections are more secure. abc 7 news was on 18th street at a rally to support measure ab 784 to bring open-source voting in california. it was to help update systems

in the east bay, b.a.r.t. passengers will be taking a free bus shuttle between concord and pleasant hill stations while they replace the 50-year-old track. b.a.r.t.'s maintenance team will be replacing rail, electrical and train control equipment as well as a drainage system. the track way will also be closed memorial day weekend and the second weekend in june. service elsewhere should not be affected. in the south bay, fans took playoff excitement to the streets. abc 7 news was near s.a.p.

a yogurt company says it will pay the school lunch debt of families in rhode island. more than 1600 families owe the warwick district $77,000, so the district said their children would get cold sandwiches instead of a hot lunch. the founder of the company says it broke his heart and they will pay the lunch money owed and urged other companies to help end the hunger crisis. the school district has reversed its position and is reviewing the policy. several golden retrievers w airport, learning training on how to be a helpful guide dog. the guide dogs between five and through tickets, boarding, deplaning and baggage claim.
