numbers come up through the 70s in our inland valleys throughout our noon hour. by 4:00, could reach about 80 degrees around the bay. mid-60s to 70s. stay tuned for a seven day outlook. the 3-year-old girl at the center of an amber alert has been found safe. police say she was taken during a carjacking in the east bay. this is video of the car the girl was in. we have been told it's her father's car. she was sitting in the backseat. this new video shows the car crashed into a bus police announced they recovered the car and took a suspect into custody around 11:00 last night. it wasn't until two hours later that they said the girl was found safe. we don't know what led up to the crash or where the girl was found. >> stay with us for this

who are son was shot and killed during a robby near usc two months ago. the 21-year-old was music student at the university. no one has been arrested for his murder. homeland security agents say they discovered illegal assault rifles inside a man's home. dylan zugaaaaaaar charges. they found these weapons. he was booked into the san mateo county jail. the red cross is helping a dozen people with finding a new place to live after a devastating fire in berkeley. residents had to evacuate while firefighters worked to get the flames under control. abc 7 news reporter has the details. >> reporter: a rudse awakening for the people living inside

actress and former model peggy lipton passed away from kans ecancer with her family by side. she starred in the hit tv series twin peaks in the 90s. he was 72. nearly 18 years after the 9/11 terror attacks, a new book shares the experiences of many whose lives were forever changed that day. former boston globe reporter covered the tragedy and wanted to illuminate those stories in a new book. killed. for so many americans especially young people, the 9/11 attacks seemed as distant as the japanese attack on pearl harbor which is one reason this book was written. "fall and rise, the story of 9/11" to tell stories about the people who died. those who survivored. >> we have entire generations with no memory and people in our generation whose memory are fadesing. there is this sweet spot momentum where we have to capture these stories and make sure they are preserved or else it becomes a numbers game. it becomes 9 and 11 and four planes. >> we brought it out to say wait a second. before we saw it's columbus day or a day we mark once a year.

we have to be living this story. we have to be honoring the family, the survivors, the victims every day. the reason we call the book fall and rise is it was supposed to be the end. it was supposed to destroy it. in the immediate aftermath what always suffered became part of our shared experience. we are not richer for it but we are stronger for it. >> reporter: sadly, nearly 18 years later, the death toll rises. first responders, firefighters, police officers, anyone who worked for weeks or months at ground zero now sick and too aftertenness often dying. >> we have buried more people post 9/11 from 9/11 related diseases, firefighter, police officer, fbi members, you name it. i think we you them a debt that we still have to continue to pay. >> reporter: the ball for boosting funding is now in the hands of congress. >> fall and rise is available at

people cut back on once the tariffs fully kick in. it turns out starvation is the reason that more gray whales are being found dead in the bay area. that's according to the san francisco chronicle. this gray whale washed up at ocean beach. it's the nineth gray whale found in the bay area in the past two months. the usually large death toll is happening because there's too little food to support the giant mammals. they are taking a dangerous detour into san francisco bay to try to find more food. kitten season is here. they will be teaching volunteers how to bottle feed young kens. the spca is accepting monetary donations plus small crates, cat formula and wet kitten food.

at my scars and thought that's never going to happen to my. hi daughter grabs a reasandom album. it was the one that had me dressed as miss america before the fire. i thought this is interesting because i hnts seen that picture for a long time. that dream was starting to build back up in me. it validated the fact i am beautiful and i'm proud of who i am. i'm proud of what i see in the mirror. why can't i put myself in a pageant.

welcome back. millions of drivers pay tolls with fast track. officials say basic lelectronic collection is accurate most of the time. it can affect hundreds of people. an east bay man was the latest to come to 7 on your side michael finney for help. >> reporter: 140 million vehicles cross the san mateo bridge every year. his car isn't one of them. >> i've probably been on that bridge once in my lifetime. >> reporter: he was surprised to get that notice saying he crossed the bridge without paying. >> i thought maybe it was a mistake. >> reporter: it was. not only did he not cross the bridge, he didn't own the car on the citation. >> when i looked closer, i realized it wasn't my license

plate or my car. i went to fastrak and told them that. they said dmv has to fix this. >> reporter: he took time off work and went to the dmv. >> get in line for an hour. they say it's not your car. >> reporter: the dmv wouldn't give him a document to prove it. >> we can't give you information. >> reporter: they said only fastrak could dismiss the ticket. >> i went back and told them i have this ticket to car that wasn't mine. they wouldn't budge on it. they sent me off to dmv. they were bouncing me back and for forth. >> reporter: he spent so many hours and thought maybe he should pay it. >> i didn't want to pay it because i thought i might get another one. >> reporter: we found out why he got somebody else's ticket. david and another person each purchased car the same week from ford of walnut creek. they both put toll tags on therapy new car. david crossed the toll bridge. the other guy cross the san

mateo bridge but both cars were still registered to the ford dealership. they weren't covered yet by those accounts and they both got tickets. the dealership sent the tickets to fastrak and they were both sent to david. >> it got involved. >> reporter: after we pointed out the mistake, they dismissed the ticket. the lesson here, just putting a toll tag in a car doesn't mean it will cover a bridge toll. the license plate of the car must be connected to a fastrak account. otherwise the car will cross without paying and it could get you a big ticket. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. a 4-year-old boy nailed the national anthem at a cal baseball game. ♪

the clouds, they will be pretty close. another massive push inland overnight. we'll talk rain chances, several of them coming up. thank you. developing news. a mystery in paradise. a massive search is under way at a maui forest reserve for a missing woman. marcy gonzalez has the latest. >> reporter: this morning search teams scouring the woods in hawaii desperately trying to find this woman who disappeared four days ago. >> aloha. my name is amanda eler. >> reporter: her suv found parked at the forest reserve. the 35-year-old cell phone and wallet still inside. her keys hidden under a tire where friends say she often left them when she went running on these trails. >> i had just seen her a week ago. when i saw her, she was so happy. she just was glowing. >> reporter: there's been no sign of the beloved physical therapist and yoga instructor. >> i think it's 50% she's lost

4-year-old girl in houston is now charged in her disappearance. this is a new booking photo of d dderian vence. he's charged with tampering with evidence, specifically a corpse. a judge set his bond at $1 million. investigators are not said whether she's dead. he originally told police that strangers beat him and abducted maleah last week. it would bring open source voting in california. the bill is intended to help counties update voting systems and improve security. this toll follows claims of russian state interference. >> we know what part of the problem has been. we have proprietary software

that's owned by corporations that's vulnerable. >> the bill would provide up to $16 million in matching funds to help county install open source paper ballot systems. new this morning, arrests for marijuana trafficking at lax have spiked since the drug became legal last year. according to the l.a. times, arrests have surged 166% at the airport. last year police made 101 trafficking arrests opinion that's compared to just 38 in the year before. the sheriff's office says it regularly intercepts marijuana in about 50 pound quantities. dennis rodman is caught on surveillance tape with a group accused of theft. it happened at a yoga studio. one woman putting merchandise in her purse. another man drop and broke and crystal on display then took what was left of it. the damage is estimated around
