northeast through tomorrow. here's rob marciano. >> reporter: tonight, powerful storms slamming the south again and millions up the east coast in the throes of torrential rain and damaging winds. a flash flood emergency, forcing first responders to make daring rescues and wade through chest-high waters to save those stranded in this mississippi neighborhood. in poplarville, mississippi, more than a foot of rain falling, carving out huge sections of this road and cutting off all exit routes for residents there. >> i lost everything, sir. i lost everything. >> reporter: wind gusts topping 55 miles per hour ripping through this alabama parking lot. gulf shores residents cleaning up tonight, after powerful winds brought trees down onto cars. the flooding extensive, washing out tracks, derailing more than two dozen cars from this freight train. homes and buildings inundated by rising water that nearly swallows up this truck. flash flood warnings issued dooday. >> reporter: i

runway, the pilot dumping fuel before the landing. 82 passengers scrambling to get to safety. here's julia macfarlane. >> reporter: a runway scare at yangon airport in myanmar. investigators now pouring over these nail-biting images to help determine why this myanmar national airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing without its front wheels. the nose of the plane scraping down the runway tarmac. smoke rises under their seats. >> evacuate. evte them to get out using the emergency slides. the pilot of the embraer 190 jet, with 89 people onboard, forced to carry out the dramatic landing when the front landing gear failed to deploy. officials now trying to discover what went wrong, and just how close this incident was to disaster. but for now, the pilot and crew, celebrated as heroes, for averting what could have been another aviation tragedy.

all 82 passengers and 7 crew walked away without a scratch. many even leaving with a smile. tom, this was a textbook emergency landing. the pilot knew he didn't have those front wheels, so he circled twice and dumped fuel to make the plane lighter. tom? >> julia, thank you. back at home to the disturbing new clues in the case of the missing 4-year-old girl in houston. police saying there is blood evidence, and new images believed to show the last time she was known to be alive. the suspect now being called her mother's ex-fiance, facing charges. here's marci gonzalez. >> reporter: tonight, the man last seen with 4-year-old maleah davis before her disappearance is behind bars, charged with tampering with evidence. >> a warrant was obtained for >> reporter: these surveillance images obtained exclusively by last time maleah was reportedly seen. wearing that pink tutu,

following her mother's ex-fiance, derion vence, into their houston home on april 30th. three days later, that same camera recording vence carrying out a laundry basket with a garbage bag inside and later a bottle of bleach. vence telling police that night he was stopped on the side of the road when he was attacked. his car and maleah taken by three men. he tells investigators he woke up nearly 24 hours later, brought his 2-year-old son to the hospital, and reported maleah missing. but police say these images show vence getting dropped off at the hospital in the same car he claimed was stolen. investigators later finding that nissan, where they say canines picked up the scent of human decomposition. and police say inside vence's apartment they found what they describe as blood evidence linked to maleah. police tell us they are still searching for maleah, and haven't given up hope that she could still be alive. vence is being held on $1 million bond. expected back in court tomorrow morning. tom?

>> marci, thank you. we're learning more about the american airlines pilot charged with triple murder. questions about how he ended up in the cockpit. the couple's son who pressured authorities not to give up now speaking out. here's diane macedo. >> reporter: tonight we're learning more about the pilot charged with killing his former neighbors in 2015. christian martin, who flew for a subsidiary of american airlines, arrested in his uniform at louisville airport saturday just before a flight. police found pamela phillips and edward dansereau's bodies in a burned-out car in this cornfield. later discovering calvin phillips was shot dead in his home. martin lived across the street. at the time, martin spoke to station wsmv claiming calvin phillips had had an affair with his ex. >> you know, you could tell something was going on. i didn't know exactly what. >> reporter: but he denied knowing anything about the murders. former army major martin was court-martialed in 2016 in connection with allegations of

sexual misconduct. found guilty of a lesser charge of mishandling classified information. calvin phillips was set to testify in that case. it's unclear if that court-martial came up in his background check to fly. >> the fact that this pilot had an army court-martial conviction should have come up in the hiring process. and if it didn't, why? >> reporter: american airlines saying it was deeply saddened to learn about the charges. adding, "pilots undergo a criminal background check and recurrent vetting," and "christian martin was subject to this recurrent vetting without any criminal history that would disqualify him from being a commercial pilot." the phillips' son matt, now keeping pressure on authorities to bring justice to his family. saying on this mother's day, "the world was robbed of a beautiful human being in my mother. i'll fight for her, for my father, and ed until the end of time. because they would have for me." >> diane, that son we just heari

they say he's the reason this case stayed alive. now martin is being held without bond. still not clear on when he will appear in court. >> diane, thank you. and now to politics. president trump's face-off with congress. and several showdowns building this week. the new report claiming the president and allies are blocking more than 20 investigations and 79 requests for documents and information. democrats giving a deadline for the release of president trump's tax returns. and the president already giving his answer. kyra phillips is at the white house. >> reporter: tonight, democrats are firing back. accusing president trump of stonewalling their investigations at every turn. >> the trump administration has decided to say a blanket no. no to any kind of oversight whatsoever. no witnesses, no documents, no nothing. >> reporter: a new analysis from "the washington post" shows the president and his allies are working to block more than 20 separate investigations led by congressional democrats,

refusing to comply with at least 79 requests for information. the president insisting he won't release his tax returns. >> while i'm under audit, i won't do it. >> reporter: he's exerted executive privilege to stop congress from getting access to the full mueller report, indicating there's no need for the special counsel to testify. >> i think, to me, it looks like a redo. >> reporter: leaving that decision to his attorney general. >> the american people have every right to hear what the man who did the investigation has to say. >> reporter: republicans saying mueller's testimony won't change the report's outcome. >> it's not going to change the outcome of the mueller report. this is a time where the country wants us to move forward. >> reporter: but democrats say the country is in a constitutional crisis. >> he is every day demonstrating more obstruction of justice and disrespect for congress' legitimate role. >> reporter: the speaker of the house saying president trump's actions have made him, quote,

"self-impeachable." the top democrat on the intelligence committee, though, warning taking that step could have consequences. >> it's certainly true that these additional acts of obstruction, a president having obstructed the justice department investigation, now obstructing congress, does add weight to impeachment, but part of our reluctance is we are already a bitterly divided country and an impeachment process will divide us further. >> kyra, the president and his allies are facing another round of deadlines from congress this week to turn over the unredacted mueller report and his tax returns. will house democrats be able to get any of that information? >> reporter: it's unclear how any of this will play out. it's highly unlikely we'll see a resolution this week. deadline or no deadline, the president is standing firm. meanwhile, democrats considering more aggressive steps to enforce compliance including levying fines. as for the idea of a constitutional crisis, trump tweeting tonight that is pathetically untrue.

>> new details on the car theft that prompted an amber alert. what have you learned. >> reporter: this case has a lot of people in total disbelief. initially a father said his daughter had been the victim of a carjacking. turns out it was all a ploy, according to police, to try and get his car back faster. check out this surveillance video from saturday night that you will see only on abc7 news. a suspected car thief getting into a silver mercedes outside a liquor store on international boulevard while the owner was inside. seconds later, the mercedes drives off. the owner, seen running after the stolen car, into traffic. the car's owner told police his 3-year-old daughter was in the in the confusion, the child was initially identified as a boy. >> the victim's 3-year-old son may possibly be inside the vehicle. it is not clear. there is a lot of yelling. >> reporter: the case prompted an amber alert. the car was discovered hours

later after itrashed into a bus stop in he will ka receipto. the suspect was taken into custody but the child was not inside. police say that's because the child was never in the car to begin with. she was at home safe with her mom. the father, arrested for making a false police report in hopes police would recover the stolen mercedes quicker. >> i don't think that's right. i think there are other ways to find your car. >> reporter: this woman who lives in oakland can't believe the story. >> i am glad the baby is safe. that's the most important thing about everything, that the baby was not in the car. it is sad he lied about it just to get his car back. but i am glad the baby is safe. >> reporter: yeah, certainly everyone is glad that child is safe. the identity of the father has not been released. still a lot of questions here. it is unclear if police contacted the mother before issuing that amber alert yesterday. live in oakland, cornell barnard, abc7 news. >> cornell thank you very much. we sent out a push alert shortly after the girl was found early this morning. for news updates any time,

leading drug companies now face a lawsuit over claims of inflating prices. 44 states filed the suit on friday claiming the companies increased price of generic drugs by up to 1000%.
