road. good news the crash cleared to the side. i'm hearing there are still some flare-ups. a new crash really close by. southbound 680 past olympic boulevard and walnut creek involves a roll over and the two right lanes are now blocked by the emergency crews that are on the scene. so not much of a backup yet. certainly keeping an eye on that area. westbound 580 tracy to dublin, you're in the yellow at 57 minutes. no delays westbound 4 antioch to concord or southbound 101 san rafael to san francisco. thanks so much, alexis. building a better bay area transportation is a key issue for all of us. we've been focusing on the big challenges facing b.a.r.t. we're hearing about a new issue. >> "the chronicle" is reporting b.a.r.t. is slowing the rollout because of serious maintenance issues. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is live. >> reporter: good morning. "the chronicle" is saying by stretching out this time line b.a.r.t. and its contractor will

be able to work with some of the in thentimeassenger wlorceoideo to the 1970s. b.a.r.t. planned to initially have 775 new cars in service by 2022. "the chronicle" says the chief mechanical officer revealed in a new interview that the date will now be spring 2023. an example of that is car "d." it is the cab where the operator sits. they expect those cars to run 6,000 hours before any sort of equipment failure that cause as delay of more than five minutes. right now issues are popping up around 1,000 hours, not six. "the chronicle" is reporting that b.a.r.t. gets to hold on to the last 5% payment of the $2.5 billion fleet of the future trains until both sets of cars hit their maintenance targets. it was noted in this article that maintenance issues are common for new rail cars, but

noon to share information about the proposed ballpark. environmental concerns are slowing the campfire cleanup in specsied to live in the area. frogs, birds, bats, and fish are just some of those creatures. also crews are not allowed to touch streams or waterways as they remove the debris. the state is expected to finalize a plan in the next few days to help speed up the process. it's been more than six months since the fire ripped through butte county destroying thousands of homes. san francisco police are trying to determine the circumstances of a deadly crash involving a bus. a witness posted this video on the citizen app. the vehicle appears to be a golden gate transit bus. the man was hit and killed saturday night as he was crossing the road. that is in the tenderloin. police performing lifesaving itmeasur.> t bay theater c fort

yum. this camera is at 680 and treat in walnut creek. north of the 24 split if you look to the top of the camera you can see the traffic filling in and slowing down so that backup is spreading further north. next traffic update in a couple minutes. happening today the man charged in the disappearance of a 4-year-old houston girl is due back in court. police say there is blood evidence and new surveillance images believed to show the last known time malaeh davis was seen. images show her following derion vence into an apartment. three days later the same recorded shows him carrying out a laundry basket with a garbage bag inside and later a bottle of vence sayins he was attacked by three men and woke up and reported her missing. the family is relieved an arrest has been made. >> i'm glad someone is finally charged and people need to tell the truth and tell what really happened to malaeh.

it's 5:14. the seven things to know this morning. police responded to reports of several shootings overnight. investigators were at three crime scenes after 10:00. we do not know if they're related. number two from our live desk actress felicity huffman expected to plead guilty today in a boston courtroom. it's for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. she signed a plea deal last month admitting she paid $15,000 to raise her daughter's s.a.t. score. number three, b.a.r.t. is slowing the rollout of its new trains because of serious maintenance issues.

the instagram caption reads paying tribute to all mothers today past, present, mothers-to-be and those lost but forever remembered. in the south bay a crash in the dark of night chased people out of their homes. a santa clara county sheriff's department tweeted this photo of a tree nearly split in half. deputies say a 50-foot-tall section of the tree that was about ten feet in diameter fell on the house in cupertino early yesterday morning. the homeowner and his children were in the house but luckily were not hurt. mourning the death of peggy lipton who passed away from cancer with family by her side. she rose to fame playing julie barnes in the series squad" running 1968 to 1973. she starred in the hit tv series "twin peaks" in the '90s and is the mother of rashida jones. she was 72 years old. an airplane landed on its

in the pacific as a couple areas of low pressure brings wet weather. 54 in hayward. 51 in novato. and looking at mist and drizzle along the shoreline. the rain arrives on wednesday and thursday. a break on friday and coming back on saturday. let's time it out as best we can. the north bay is looking at some rain. we're looking at soaking rain by your wednesday evening commute. it's wet. this moves into the mountains. high elevation snow. thursday looks like a bit of a break also into friday. leftover showers. look at saturday. saturday looks like a washout this is unusual because we'r t to over an inch. and this is what we would get for the entire month of may. so the average is going well beyond that so this is an

people were shot overnight with the shootings starting at 10:00. they don't know at this time if all of the shootings arement as details. at this point the police department has no comment. reporting live in richmond, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. this is a reported carjacking that triggered an amber alert. the owner told police his 3-year-old daughter was in the back seat. >> now investigators are saying the dad lied because he wanted cops to find his car faster. another look at the new surveillance video we have. the father is now in trouble for filing a false police report. this all started on saturday night around 8:00. the man called 911 after a thief stole his car outside of a liquor store on international boulevard. he told dispatch his daughter was in the back seat. police issued an amber alert. the car was later found crashed in el cerrito and a suspect was taken into custody. the child was not in the car.

it turns out police say the girl was safe with her mom the whole time. >> it's sad that he lied about it just to get his car back. i'm glad the baby is safe. >> it's still not clear whether police actually contacted the child's mother before issuing that amber alert. testimony resumes today in the ghost ship fire trial. a sculptor will take the stand again. he told the jury thursday what it was like to live inside an rv at the ghost ship warehouse. he says he stored flammable art supplies there but considered the warehouse a safe place. avalos escaped the night of the fire in 2016. defendants max harris and derick almena are on trial for 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. 13 people are in need of a place to stay after a fire burned through an apartment building. a witness posted this video on the citizen app. you can see the black smoke. the fire broke out late yesterday afternoon near mission street and templeton avenue in daly smoke damaged several amounts on the second floor. everyone did manage to get out safely.

the red cross was working with them to get temporary shelter. the fire was completely out, about four hours after it was reported. i've been watching a series of tweets by president trump. he is defending his new chinese tariffs this morning and we are watching how it could affect the stock market when it opens later this morning. the u.s. raised tariffs on chinese goods friday. the president's chief economic adviser told fox news yesterday a trade war will affect both american and chinese businesses. some republicans including senator rand paul say they are concerned. >> the longer we're involved, we could enter into a recession because of it. >> president trump, though, not backing down. are right where we want to be with china. and he says the u.s. will bring in billions of dollars in tariffs. as i mentiedndingll that have this morning.

i want to quickly tell you that he is suspected of rape in sweden and this morning the country has reopened the case against him. it could be a problem as they try to bring him back in the u.s. as well. back to you. in the south bay a woman from san jose faces felony dui charges in connection with the crash that killed a 17-year-old high school student. investigators say ashley marie oliver was driving a chrysler minivan in the wrong direction on southbound highway 17. she crashed into a car with five people inside. it happened around 2:00 a.m. the five victims are from fremont. a 17-year-old student from washington high school. >> abc 7 is committed to building a better bay area and one of the issues is traffic and

public transportation. the increasing congestion on our roads. the issue could be on the ballot in three bay area counties. to raise up to $200 million. the san mateo daily journal reports the agency has been doing some polling and approval for the tax plan is close to the two-thirds majority it would need to pass. voters could decide in the primary or the general election november 2020. another step forward in the plan to rename sfo's international terminal in honor of former san francisco marp ed lee. the airport commission will discuss and possibly take action on a resolution that would rename it mayor edwin m. lee international terminal. along with new signs the resolution will recommend a statue, plaque, and video honoring lee. the former mayor died unexpec d unexpectedly. an update on the measles

in walnut creek. we got the all clear about 15 minutes ago. in the concord area on 680 so that is starting to unwind. we do have reports of a crash near highway 13 in the berkeley area. not sure if they're transporting someone or still looking for that location. the two middle lanes blocked for that crash. that could slow you down if you're trying to get into downtown oakland or the bay bridge commute. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze coming in at 22 minutes. a 13-minute drive across the bay bridge. still in the green at ten minutes. a driver is thanking tesla's autopilot feature for saving a rabbit's life. it detected the rabbit in the middle of the road on a foggy night.
