today, she is there live with the story. kate? >> reporter: well, dan, the little boy's funeral was on monday and meanwhile the dental office here at the youthful tooth was packed with families inside this oakland building. i went inside was quickly told to leave. and meanwhile, i was able to count over a dozen children in the waiting room. three weeks ago, this 4-year-old died after a dental procedure at youthful tooth in oakland. they wrote on the go fund me page, he was given two doses of anesthesia and stopped breathing. the next thing she knew, the ambulance arrived. >> reporter: the family friend helps to translate for the child's parents who recently immigrated here from vietnam. they took the child to the hospital where he died the next day t day of the dental procedure, lee's mother was worried about a cold he was getting over. >> he is still a little bit coughing and she did ask the

dentist, like, is it okay to have it done, or we can reschedule another day. and he said no it's fine. >> reporter: the dental board of california confirmed they are investigating a patient death at youthful tooth in oakland. there's two licensed dentists there. >> i'm worried. >> reporter: she has been taking her children there for ten years and her son was sedated was 2. she waishes the office would hae told her that they were under investigation. >> we may have to go somewhere else from now on. >> reporter: the dental board of california said they have no timetable at this point for their investigation. but say, that if they find a that a violation occurred they will take disciplineing action. live in oakland, abc7 news. >> kate, thank you, a fighter

jet crashed in to a warehouse near a military base in southern california, we are hearing the from people who managed to escape from the building. it happened in march air force base in riversie. we are in los angeles with new images of the crash and the after math. >> reporter: this video showing an f-16 falling from the sky before crashing. ripping the hole through the ceiling of the california warehouse. >> holy -- >> reporter: the pilot that was coming in tore landing ejecting and surviving. according to authorities. you can see the seat and parachute there in the grass. firefighters staging nearby and keeping a safe distance, concerned that the plane was loaded with weapons and ammunition. >> reporter: that's a -- airplane. >> reporter: inside the warehouse, workers were feet away and incredibly managed to escape. >> i just seen the ceiling from all over the building start collapsing and the sprinklers were going off and sirens going

few of the firearms. oakland pd's cease fire unit found three separate oakland gangs had built an alliance and believe the group was tied to serious crimes across the bay area. 6:00 a.m. thursday, oakland pd, the fbi, atf and other local and federal agencies took down 16 suspected gang members across the east bay. and served warrants in oakland, and others. >> and we ended up using ten different swat teams throughout the region to safely execute search warrants. >> reporter: suspects were part of a gang super cell. three separate gangs from north, west and east, oakland formed an alliance. >> these individuals waged war and took out the aggressions on rival gangs throughout our city. >> reporter: they will face charges of attempted murder, gun violence and other serious crime. offenses authorities have been monitoring since last october. >> polygraph to today, we had made 24 arrests and recovered 20

guns. >> reporter: among other guns. crews had illegally altered pistols. they anticipate that testing will match guns to other crimes. that has been the case with guns collected before the raids. >> we have had a weapon that we have connect to 17 different events. >> reporter: suspects were led away in handcuffs. and kids were released to other family members. the most disturbing scene was seeing young children caught in the middle of this major crack down. >> having to experience police coming in to their homes. it's frightening. >> reporter: we have reached out to the service department about the kids. and we have checked with the alameda county office. we will update you when we have them get back. >> new developments in a cold case murder that dates back to 1974.

a former stanford university worker was arrested today, san matteo county sheriff's charged 74-year-old john arthur gutroe with the murder of 21-year-old janet taylor. he was already in custody in santa clara county, with the murder of a 21-year-old. both women were strangled in the same area one year apart. janet taylor was the daughter of stanford's former athletic director. >> the clock is ticking. he has not been held to account for decades for these crimes. so, moving them as quickly as we can through the system, is, i know the priority of both counties. >> dna evidence linked the two cases. >> new at 11:00. a gray whale that was found surrounded died from malnutrition. that makes 11 whale deaths this year. they say the 41 foot adult female lacked a significant amount of blubber and body fat.
