>> the family says they took the boy to the dental office youthful tooth in oakland. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is in the newsroom with what we know about the boy's treatment that day. jobina? >> reporter: dung ly died after he was treated at that dentist's office. the family says that -- a family member wrote on the go fund me page that ly was given two doses of anesthesia and stopped breathing. family friend jimmy tran helps translate for ly's parents who recently emigrated from vietnam. he says an ambulance took ly to benoff children's hospital where he died the next day. according to tran the day of dental procedure ly's mother was worried about a cold her son was getting over. the mother was in the waiting room when ly stopped breathing. >> they didn't give her any update until she questioned them and then the next thing she knew an ambulance arrived. >> reporter: youthful tooth has not responded to our request for

comment. the california dental board says if a violation is found, they will take disciplinary action. they do not have a time line for their investigation. reporting live, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. and new this morning missouri expected to become the latest state to pass sweeping anti-abortion legislation. the republican-led house is set to debate a bill today that will ban procedures after eight weeks of pregnancy and the bill passed missouri's senate yesterday. exceptions would be made only in medical emergencies, not in cases of rape or incest. missouri's republican governor is expected to sign the bill. opponents say they will challenge it in court should it pass. we are learning of some major backlash facing alabama which signed the most restrictive abortion measure in the country into law. state officials in maryland and colorado have urged an economic boycott of the entire state of

alabama. chelsea manning will go back to jail a. judge found the former analyst in contempt yesterday. she says she will not testify before a grand jury that's investigating wikileaks. this is her second subpoena. manning had already served two months in jail after she refused to testify before another grand jury. she was released last week when that grand jury term expired. a federal judge has ordered part of the mueller report to be unredacted in a criminal case against michael flynn. portions of the report relating to flynn will be made public. in 2017 flynn admitted to lying to the fbi about his conversations with the russian ambassador to the u.s. he is awaiting his sentence. in southern california an investigation is under way to determine what caused an f-16 to crash at the end of a training mission. the pilot managed to eject before the jet smashed through the roof of a riverside county warehouse leaving a dozen

people, including the pilot, hurt. none of the injuries is considered life threatening. the f-16 was coming in for a landing yesterday afternoon. officials say the pilot reported hydraulic problems and was returning to the base. boeing said it finished updates to the flight control software implicated in two deadly crashes involving the max jet. the fix still needs to be approved by the faa although a time line has not been worked out. regulators will have more questions about the software debate. the boeing company says it is prepared to answer them. a certification flight with faa representatives onboard needs to happen before the update is approved. after years of discussion and debate, the suicide net for the golden gate bridge is starting to take shape. a look at part of a net being made in richmond now. officials say it will cover 1.7 miles on both sides of the bridge 20 feet below.

a last-ditch effort to avoid a teacher strike in the east bay didn't work. nearly 600 teachers in union city are planning to strike on monday. the last offer included a 3% bonus the first year and a 1% increase the following year. initially teachers were demanding a 20% raise over two years. district officials say money is tight because of declining enrollment. bay area interns are earning some hefty paychecks. >> this is so interesting. some are making more money than the average u.s. employee. career website glass door crunched the numbers. listen to this, young interns at facebook can make as much as $8,000 a month which is about $96,000 a year. these are interns. other high-paying internships include sales force at about $7,600 a month. google and uber also pay more than $7,000 a month. apple $6,600. the average u.s. worker makes

a plan to close san francisco's juvenile hall has passed its first hurdle. they voted to close the facility by 2021. supporters cited a citywide decrease in youth crime. they say the juvenile hall is under used. opponents say the legislation was hastily put together and provides no alternatives to helping troubled youth. the plan now goes to the full board for a vote. the fda has recalled six types of tattoo ink. several different manufacturers make the ink. it can lead to serious injury and risk of infection because the ink is injected into the skin. the fda is advising tattoo shops to get rid of the recalled inks. people should ask the artists what ink they use. we have a full list on our website, abc7news.com. macy's is going after bargain shoppers and not just with the clearance section.

build a better bay . oneheel crse housing hit a roadblock. scott wiener's l c 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in walnut creek, an area very vocal about their opposition. amy? >> reporter: good morning. there was shock in sacramento yesterday when this happened. this bill has been killed for now. senator scott wiener of san francisco wrote the bill and says he is extremely disappointed but says this fight isn't over. many thought the bill would at least make it out of committee so lawmakers could vote on it. it overrides local officials and local zoning and forces cities to allow high rise housing near transit stops. they do not want to lose local control. some residents tell tus does seem like a complicated issue.

dead. this morning a much better idea exactly how much they could pay. mgm resorts says as much as $800 million in liability tied to the mass shooting. the company owns manned lay bay. steven paddock fired at a huge crowd attending the festival across the street and was holed up in a manndalay hotel room. about 800 people were also hurt. these lawsuits involve about 4,000 people making claims. lawyers say it is still too early to know the final price tag. in the east bay a suspected gang super cell tied to serious crimes across the bay area has been busted. >> ten s.w.a.t. teams served warrants in oakland, san leandro, hayward, antioch, vallejo and richmond. investigators say three separate gangs from northwest and east oakland formed an alliance. members are accused of murder,

gun violence and other serious crimes. 16 people arrested in addition to 24 arrested in the last few months. >> these individuals paged war and took out the aggressions on rival gangs throughout our city. >> dozens of guns were recovered by police. hayward police are trying to identify and locate two home invasion robbery suspects. investigators released these surveillance images of the suspects. the invasion happened on monday in the fairview neighborhood. the men threatened a 19-year-old man and his father. the son was able to call police. officers actually got there before the suspects were leaving. police say one of the men pointed a gun at them. three officers opened fire but the suspects managed to get away in a two-door black honda accord. >> sonoma county's airport is getting tens of millions of dollars in federal money for a yee upgradeo its passenger terminal.

morning because in just a few hours in oakland we're going to be hearing two arguments on case that is hope to block president trump's border wall funding. california and 19 other states brought one lawsuit and the sierra club represented by the aclu is bringing the other case. they are asking the court to decide at that the declaration of a national emergency is unconstitutional and unlawful. the states and groups argue the president's plan to use billions of dollars of defense department money on the wall violates congress' constitutional power to decide on budget appropriations. the department of justice attorneys, though, say the funding plan is within the president's powers and does not depend on the declaration of a national emergency. that happening later in oakland. we're watching it closely. >> thank you for both updates, jessi jessica. finding solutions to the homeless crisis, and b.a.r.t. is stepping up outreach around two
