we're learning of a lot of backlash facing alabama which signed this week the most restrictive abortion measure in the country into law and state officials in maryland and colorado have urged an economic boycott of the state of alabama. 6:04 now. on to developing news, chelsea manning will be going back to jail. a judge found her in contempt yesterday. manning says she will not testify before a grand jury. manning had served two mants after she refused to testify before another grand jury. she was released last week when that grand jury term expired. a federal judge ordered part of the mueller report to be unredacted. portions of the report relating to flynn will be made public. in 2017 flynn admitted to lying.

in southern california an investigation is under way to determine what caused an f-16 to crash at the end of the training mission. the pilot managed to eject before the jet smashed through the roof of a warehouse. it left a dozen people, including that pilot hurt. none of the injuries is considered life threatening. the f-16 was coming in for a landing yesterday afternoon. officials say the pilot reported hydraulic problems and was returning to the base. >> after years of debate and discussion the suicide net for the golden gate bridge is starting to take shape. officials say it will cover 1.7 miles on both sides of the bridge 20 feet below. >> they will probably break a broen or two but will live to see another day. it will take a couple of years to install the net. more than 1,700 people have

to a b.a.r.t. station at least for now and this is a major victory for local officials who are against this idea. state senator scott wiener says he's promising to keep fighting for this bill. he is extremely disappointed this happened. the bill did not even make it out of committee. that was shocking to many. it overrides local officials and local zoning and forces cities to allow high-rise housing near transit stops and that's why many east bay local officials have come out against it. residents tell us they understand the need for more housing but don't think it is the state's business. >> i think the city should have more control over that to some extent. every city is different. we have a very large elderly population, so that impacts how

eaomels t crimes. crisis is worsening. a new count backs up what we're all seeing in our communities. according to a one-night count by san francisco's department of homelessness, the number of homeless in the city shot up 17% this year compared to 2017. there are more than 8,000 people homeless in the city, an increasing number of them living out of cars and rvs. and in santa clara county the number is stunning. up 31% in two years. in alameda county it gets worse, up 43%. it's raising questions whether the strategies we're using are even effective. alameda county supervisor wilma chen is considering a half cent increase for the 2020 ballot. it would raise millions to pay for homeless shelters in the east bay. how many years it would be in effect has not been determined.

part of the money would go towards covering rent for people who are at risk of being evi evicted. more than 8,000 were counted during this year's tally. two years ago that number was 5,600. >> those numbers are stunning. 6:37. in the north bay, the airport getting tens of millions of dollars in federal money for a badly needed upgrade to its passenger terminal. charles schwarz has grown by leaps and bounds with more flights and more destinations but the passenger experience has not kept pace. the $10 million grant from the u.s. department of transportation will help with a $22 million project to build a new tsa security area, more seating, new bathrooms, a baggage claim area and also a rental car counter. construction should begin next year. some sad news this morning about the internet's most famous cat, grumpy cat. that's the word from the cat's
