child pornography and concealing a camera in public. an employee of rock and jump called police on may 3rd after a hidden camera was found in the men's public restroom in the park. that is when police found footage of children using the bathroom. police allege the camera also captured the suspect setting it up. >> be nice to know what the cameras look like, which would be good. but i don't take my kids out much like that because it seems more and more things like that happen. >> i'm glad she's a girl so she could go with me. so i can hopefully protect her a little bit. >> reporter: this is not the first incident for rock and jump at this fremont location. a few months ago police were called to the trampoline park for a man exposing himself. police traced down the man. the man was charged with lewd conduct. i did speak to the p.r. company representing rock and jump.

they didn't want to do an on-camera interview or issue a statement but they did tell me there is a company-wide policy to implement routine checks of the bathroom. ama and larry? >> kris, has the fremont police department said anything about this? >> reporter: yeah, police tell us that they believe rocca may have placed cameras in other public places. they also searched his home and found several media and storage devices however they were not available for a follow-up so we couldn't get more information on exactly what camera was found. that is what parents are concerned about to look out for anything but if you are watching the story, they are appealing for the public help and police continue to reach out to victim. kris rayes, abc7 news. berkeley public health department is issuing a measles alert. on may 7th someone came down with the virus and the person is no longer contagious but officials say anybody who

inch and a quarter with gusty winds. starting forecast animation, 7:00 tomorrow morning by 10:00 a.m., most of the north bay will receive rainfall. light to moderate rain. then by the middle of the day, into the afternoon hours, virtually all portions of the bay area will be receiving moderate rainfall with little pockets of heavy downpours. it will start to taper off to pockets of downpours. sometime tomorrow evening, don't get too excited because more rain is coming in on sunday. i'll have a look at the full accuweather seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> spencer, thank you. and while we're getting rain, parts of the sierra nevada are getting snow. it looks like winter. the greater lake tahoe area is under a winter weather advisory from tomorrow night through sunday morning. >> it is may 17th by the way. a napa road is closed after a truck crashed over the scene

at redwood and lynn drive where the big rig was on its side. fire officials tell us they had several canisters with various gases including sulfur dioxide. this led to people in the area being told to stay inside while the mess is cleaned up. it can be harmful if inhaled. truck is removed and the shelter in place order lifted by crews are still cleaning up in the area. meanwhile, the four-mile stretch of freeway is closed in riverside after the f-16 fighter jet crashed there yesterday. the military brought in an explosive ordinance team as part of the investigation. it is not clear, though, if this jet was armed. it slammed into a warehouse yesterday in moreno valley. no one was seriously hurt or killed. in fact the pilot had ejected before the crash and he's said to be doing fine. that jet was on a training mission. seral students have been identified as those behind graffiti threatening a mass shooting at a san ramon high school. but there is a copy cat on campus. officials from california high school will take extra security

measures. amy hollyfield has the latest. >> reporter: administrators at cal high school in san ramon are praising students for coming forward and helping find the four students who wrote a racist message on a shack. >> after we reported we need more information we had over 40 tips come in through our anonymous tip line and not including the tips from the teachers directly so this is a result of students doing the right thing skblrveg. >> reporter: this is only one incident. they're working with san ramon police on the others which have threatened mass shootings on campus. >> unfortunately we've had four incidents involving graffiti in recent weeks. >> reporter: parents say the kids need to be held accountable. this had quite an impact on students. many kept kids home on may 9th, the day of the promised threat. >> they said that 80% of the school, the kids were off on thursday. 80%. so, yes, i think there should be

some discipline. to what extent i'm not sure. >> yeah, they should be charged with a crime because now you're bringing out all of the law enforcement. >> reporter: police have increased presence on campus to try and ease students' concerns. >> they have so much to worry about and the last thing they need to worry about is their life at school. >> reporter: the school district won't say what punishment the four students are facing because of confidentiality concerns. in san ramon, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. the marin county man nobody as the american taliban is about to get out of prison. john walker lindh is expected to be released next thursday. he was captured in afghanistan in 2001. in 2002 he agreed to plead guilty to helping the taliban after the terrorist attacks. he received a 20-year sentence and he will spend three years on parole following his release. police are searching for five men who assaulted and robbed a random driver stopped

at an intersection in san francisco before 9:00 at 25th and cap street in the mission. police say the driver was stopped at a light when the men came up to his car. by the time the assault was over, the driver was unconscious. police have not specified what was taken from him. he was taken to the hospital for head injuries that were considered not life-threatening. it is a case of bad sportsmanship caught on camera at a basketball tournament for kids ages 10 and under. >> abc7 news dion lim shows us the video that has parents outraged. >> when the video was shown to me, i was appalled. >> it is very dirty. >> reporter: the coach he's talking about could be seen in this video from a tournament. his team, the cornerstone basketball academy was playing against the folsom academy in rockland on mother's day weekend. >> you see one of the players, he's 9 years old, dribbling up the sideline and as he's dribbling up the sideline he's passing a woman in a pink hat and you see her leg extend as --

to attempt to trip him as he's passing by. >> the mystery woman later identified as a parent from the folsom team. >> doing this maybe almost 15 years or so, i've never seen a parent physically try to trip a child. >> reporter: with a front-row seat this woman was less than a foot away from the court, meaning even the slightest kick could take out a player. >> he didn't fall. so we're very fortunate for that. >> reporter: but that is not all this woman is accused of doing. >> earlier in the game the kids came over woman over there on the sideline, she's wearing a pink hat and she's telling their kids to elbow us in the face. >> reporter: the attempted foul didn't deter this 9-year-old who went on to score 11 points and later told his dad, another day, another hater. >> he's always in a good mood. he's a great kid. always smiles. >> reporter: and despite cornerstone losing by two points, in many ways the coach believes this incident served a

right now the goo running becauset mainly sunny and dry. a little breezy today. but certainly one of the most pleasant days in recent days. its currently 59 degrees in san francisco. we have mid-60s at oakland, mount view and san jose and 62 at santa cruz and 57 at half moon bay. the view from sutro tower over san francisco, a few clouds around but very bright and beautiful afternoon. we have temperatures in the mid-60s now. at santa rosa and napa upper 60s at fairfield and vacaville and concord and 64 at livermore. and looking westward from emeryville, mainly blue sky. these are the forecast features. the skies won't be blue very long. a storm tomorrow and rainy weekend with aetatrn turning in sunnier weather nextrm impact s light intensity but periods of heavy downpours associated with this storm which will move

through tomorrow and linger through part of sunday as well. most locations will see anywhere from an inch -- from half an fa from this storm. a quarter of wind will be generally 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. here is the forecast animation starting at 7:00 tomorrow morning. by noon tomorrow we see rain reaching just about all parts of the north bay and reaching down into the south and the east. but then the steadier heavier downpours will swing in and during the midday and afternoon hours and by 4:00 saturday afternoon, all of the bay area will be wet and lots of areas will get heavy downpours. now tomorrow night we'll see the storm break up into a pocket of heavy downpours. that is little consolation if you happen to be where one of the downpours is happening but that is the pattern tomorrow night. but then sunday we have the wave of rain coming through just in time for betaak ahat isil be accompanied by strong gusty wind and chilly conditions.

a gust tomorrow will reach the peak at about 5:30 in the afternoon. with gusts on the coast, 30 to 35 miles per hour and 20 to 30 miles per hour away going into early sunday morning. rainfall potential from the approaching storm looks like most locations will receive -- well outside of the north bay, up to an inch. in the north bay well over an inch of rain likely. lows tonight in the upper 40s to low 50s. highs tomorrow, 50s on the coach and upper 50s to about 60 elsewhere. and the forecast for beta breakers shows cloudy skies in the morning on sunday and rain between 8:00 and 10:00 which the time most people are running and temperature only about 50, 51 degrees at that time. so bundle up. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. after the weekend level one storm, tapers off and another level one storm comes in for monday night and tuesday. that willboro -- will produce rainfall monday night and lingering into tuesday and next wednesday we have the

>> announcer: now news to build a better bay area. from abc7 news. and the stories making headlines at 4:30, an antioch man is accused of secretly videotaping adult and kids in a fremont bathroom. richard rocca is facing charges of possessing child pornography and concealing a camera in a bathroom. police say a hidden camera was discovered in the men's restroom at rocking jump trampoline park. officials at san ramon high school have identified and disciplined the students they believe are responsible for threatening a school shooting. they also add they don't think the students really intended to carry out the threat. taiwan is the first asia country to legalize same-sex

marriage going into effect next friday. tensions between u.s. and iran have been escalating and lawmakers want answers. elizabeth herr live in new york with this developing story. >> reporter: well larry, today president trump said reports about any drama and conflict within his administration over iran are just false and in fact he went on to say that it is also the media sending the wrong mixed messaged but if the end he said that might be a good thing. the iranian foreign minister on friday as part of the asia tour to keep world markets open to tehran. this is fears of wars breaking out between iran and t u.s. continue to grow. tensions are escalating between the two nations since president trump pulled out of the multi-national iran nuclear deal last year and imposed wide-reaching sanctions and now with a u.s. carrier strike group and bombers within striking distance of tehran, lawmakers on capitol hill want answers. >> we've asked for classified

briefing for the entire congress, as to the house of representatives, we asked last week. they said they couldn't be ready. >> reporter: the demand for answers intensifying after the sudden evacuation of nonemergency personnel from the american embassy and consulate in iraq and the sabotage of four vessels which they believe could be the work of groups backed by iranians but the "wall street journal" is reporting that both sides may be misreading each other. >> right now we're dealing with iran and they put out so many false messages that iran is totally confused. that might be a good thing. they put out the fake news and messages. >> reporter: this is as abc news is learning from several u.s. officials images showing missiles being loaded on to iranian boots, missiles that could be used to attack u.s. or commercial ships were a key factor in our recent military moves. but the u.s. intelligence community continues to assess the situation.

>> and president trump maintains he hopes we do not go to war with iran and today we were told that the full house and senate will be briefed on this next week. we're live in new york, i'm elizabeth herp for abc news. thank you. it appears president trump isn't ready to ratchet up trade disputes with japan and european nations for now. today he delayed any tariffs on car and auto part imports for six months. he was required to make a decision on commerce department national security concerns,the t president said he'll decide whether to take further action in 180 days. missouri governor is expected to sign a sweeping anti-abortion bill passed by the republican-led legislature. house lawmakers gave final approval to the bill to ban abortions at eight weeks of pregnancy. it allows exceptions only in medical emergencies, not cases of rape or incest. the debate took an even more

controversial turn when republican representative barry hoffa said most of the sexual assaults that he handled in law enforcement were, quote, date rapes or what he called consensual rapes. abortion rights supporters hissed in response. he later apologized saying he misspoke and there is no such thing as consensual rape. today's vote is only two days after alabama governor signed a bill making performing an abortion a felony in nearly all cases. activists hope the bills will eventually lead to a supreme court showdown on roe v. wade. that is the landmark ruling that legalized abortion. turning now to the race for the white house in 2020. >> with a crowded field for the democratic presidential nomination and we could barely fit them on the screen at this point, candidates are doing everything that they can to try to stand out. >> one of them former secretary julian castro made a campaign stop in the south bay as part of a town hall. reporter chris nguyen was there and spoke one-on-one with the candidate. >> reporter: at santa clara

resources of your local police force to focus on solving crime, responding and solving serious crime. >> reporter: today's town hall was organized by the silicon valley leadership group and kqed as part of the road to the white house series. >> i wish that we would have this kind of opportunity more often to be able to connect personally with more presidential candidates. >> reporter: local leaders stressing the need for this type of interaction. >> we think it is so important that people who would like to lead our country understand the innovation economy and not just from the employer perspective but the hard-working employees and families as well. >> reporter: in santa clara, chris nguyen, abc7 news. housing and urban development secretary ben carson violated the law when he spent more than $40,000 on a dining set and dishwasher last year. the government accountability office said hud failed to tell congress about the purchase which went well over the $5,000 limit for making improvements to an appointee office.

carson told lawmakers he was unaware of the pricey purchase and canceled it. democrats in the house approved a sweeping anti-discrimination bill. the equality act would extend protections to employment, housing, loan applications and public accommodations and other areas. it is a top priority of nancy pelosi who said it will bring the nation closer to equal liberty and justice for all. a similar ban faces slim odds of passing the republican-controlled senate. that legislation passed on the international game of homophobia and transphobia. ahead of the commemoration this was established in 2005 for awareness of lgbt communities worldwide. may 17th was selected because it is the day in 1990 that the world health organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. safety drills in school. the goodhe >> plus an inmate turned

but as reporter ruben contreras shows us the fresno state masters graduate will use his degree to help others. >> reporter: from ex-con to dean medallist, that is how arnold described his journey in life. at the age of 21 he was sentenced to life in prison for the crime of murder. while being transferred from a state prison to another prison he nlgtsed what he was missingu missing -- missing out on. >> i saw mcdonald's and kids on the skateboard and mom and dad with kids and pushing stroerl -- strollers and it woke me addiction behind him and soon after he realized he a passion to learn. while in prison near tracy he earned his high school diploma and an aa degree in liberal arts. >> i saw the raiser wires and bars and i no longer saw it. i -- it was oblivious to me. although the prison madness continues around me, i didn't see it.

>> reporter: he was released in 2011 after a year as a welder he went back to school to earn another aa from porterville college and transferred to fresno state in the fall of 2015 and earned a bachelors. he helped launch project rebel, a student support service that work with people formerly incarcerated and interested in higher learning. >> i was the very firstin turn and built it with the ground up and we started off with four students and we now have over 25 of us now. four of us graduated the first year. >> reporter: but helping others doesn't stop there. each saturday he travels back to the state prison to work in a fellowship program that rehabilitates prisoners through education, but he'll miss this week since he's set to graduate with a masters in social work and being honored as a dean's medallist. ca cng n just soc and the popul that has lost hope, that don't need to lose hope. we can do it. >> reporter: in fresno county,

>> announcer: abc 7, building a you do when itnd executive director of the public safety training institute with a look at the issue. thanks for coming in. >> thanks for having us. >> a school shooting is every parents' worst nightmare and most schools are doing active shooter drills. in this case, does practice help or make perfect. it is never perfect but does it make a big difference? >> absolutely. active shooter, we've done -- if you think about, we've done fire drills in schools since the 1950s and when you look back, we have not had a single student harmed in the school fire in the last 70 years. active shooter drills are the new fire drills. schools, because of the risk of active shooter now occurring in schools, they have to do everything possible to safeguard our kids when they are on

campus. one of the things they're doing is providing active shooter drills. >> i wonder with the fire drills because i remember and my kids at school and it is like -- okay, we're going to have a fire drill and everybody -- fooling around and as they kind of stroll outside. it has to be taken much more seriously, obviously. >> you have to. think about it. would we want our kids to go to school and not do any active shooter drills and imagine if there was an active shooter drill today and they had not trained on what to do and how to protect yourself. it is much better to train our kids on what we want them to do in the calmness of the classroom than having not trained them and suddenly having this incident come to our schools. >> so let pl-- so let me jump i there. what should a parent tell a child or the teachers tells the kids. obviously run and get away is the first thing. but beyond that. >> well a couple of things of the -- for the parents ifors requiredcalifornia every

to submit a safety plan to the state every year. and part of that safety plan is an active shooter response plan and they develop these plans wih local law enforcement. so that is the first thing. understand that our schools are going above and beyond to keep our kids safe. we do teach -- in the school and that is the priority. if y if you can run, we want you to run and get out of there. but if you can't run because the threat is in front of you, then we teach you then you have to hide and when we say hide we mean barricade. and if you can't barricade, then as a last resort, then it is -- then you have to do whatever you can do to go back home to your family that day. >> now as a retired s.w.a.t. commander, you've seen these situations before. fortunately we haven't had school shootings in california, at least in the bay area. from the police side of this, you walking into a situation where you have no idea what you're going to encounter. that is somewhat frightening?

>> well it is y fromhe lawnforment point of view, we train for this every day. and when an officer is on the beat and they're -- their beat going through how do i respond if there an active shooting at the high school or a business on my beat. they're mentally preparing for it in addition to the physical training that we go through. >> what is the one thing that people in general, whether it be teachers or students should not do in these situations? >> dealing with law enforcement? >> well in an active shooter situation when the police are coming up and they don't know who is doing the shooting? >> exactly. they don't know. they know somebody is there with a weapon and running in while everybody else is running out. let them know they are not the threat. see the hands and put the phones soe know.ome out with yond ofrerained from the first day they go into the academy that hands are what is going to hurt you because of the

at 8:00, it is agent of shield and a two-hour 20/20 and then abc 7 news at 11:00. during the holidays the exterior in oakland is a big attraction because of the holiday decorations but this month tourists could go inside of the church. >> for the first time since the dedication get a view. >> the oakland temple is a place where i feel great peace. it is a place where you can withdraw from the contention and competitiveness of the world and draw close to god. i'm elder larry willson, the executive director of the temple department for the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints. >> this temple is reflective of the diversity of the bay area in the sense it has an asian theme to it. it has five towers and the architects used as precedence the taj mahal in india tele in anger watt cambodia.

i think the temple is unique in terms of the monumental structure. as you look at the temple, the architects did not put windows in the temple. most of the temples do have windows in it and they were trying to create a monumental effect and i think they did it quite successfully. the church likes to select a location where the temple has some visibility and this is one of the most stunning locations of any temple in the church here high in the oakland hills. we are truly remarkable and it has turned into a beacon for ships that are coming through the golden gate. i think most importantly it is a beacon for all of us to draw our thoughts heaven ward and to think about the more important things in life. >> grounds are gorgeous. >> the architecture is stunning for sure. >> interesting. well tour the temple now through june 1st. thanks for joining us for abc7 news at 4:00. i'm larry beil. >> and i'm ama daetz. abc7 news at 5:00 stan va convertions w home depot,
