for wildfires. the utility company says it will temporarily cut power to areas with high wildfire risk. that includes the east bay which is prone to windy and dry conditions in the summer. "the chronicle" reports some transmission lines in the east bay are connected to power lines in san francisco which means a shutoff there could impact the city. earlier this month cal fire determined pg&e equipment started the campfire, the deadliest wildfire in state history. today the city of piedmont is expected to move forward with a plan to stop under aged vaping and tobacco use, approving $400,000 state grant to hire a school resource officer. the officers will visit schools to cut down on use as well as drug and alcohol use. the officer will also create a diversion program for teens caught using tobacco products. according to a new report from "the new york times," bank staff noticed suspicious activity in accounts tied to president trump and jared

kushner back in 2016 and 2017. anti-money laundering specialists recommended they look into several transactions. employees prepared reports at the time but bank executives never filed them. cupertino still in the green at 17 minutes. alexis, thank you. school will be in session today for one east bay district even though it looks like their teachers won't be there. >> teachers plan to strike this morning. they're demanding a 10% raise. the district is first year and salary increase the following year. amy hollyfield is live for us. >> reporter: good morning. schools will be open in union city and in hayward despite a teacher strike, so the teachers will not be inside the classrooms. they're going to be on the picket line, about 600. both sides failed to reach a deal over the weekend. talks fell apart so they're going on strike. the district says with schools open students will be expected to be in class.

>> we understand that crossing the picket line can be a personal choice of the students who are absent due to the strike. those will be unexcused but no penalty for those students not coming to school. >> and the main sticking point in the contract talks the teachers union wanted to let people know school instruction will not be done by regular teachers and that instruction will not be equivalent to the current school year. the strike is set to start this morning. it's a personal decision. so we'll see what students decide to do today. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news.
