in addition to the damaging winds and hail, the big concern is flash flooding with more than 6 inches of rain already falling in parts of oklahoma. overnight, a terrifying scene in the southern plains. [ sirens ] a massive tornado barreling through mangum, oklahoma. the whipping winds reaching nearly 100 miles per hour as it swirled ominously toward homes. orr: tst tched down late monday, destroyed homes, shut down highway ve >> it came so fast, when it hit, we could hear the wind. we could hear glass flying through the house. >> that is the real deal right there. >> reporter: nearby another confirmed tornado hit paducah and in crescent a rare scene, twin funnel clouds swirling side by side before touching down. >> look at that one to the right. >> yep. >> reporter: these cyclones, a small part of the tornado outbreak in the region with confirmed twisters across four states on monday along. >> look at that, boys. >> reporter: dozens of cities

under tornado warnings late into the night and at least 66 counties in oklahoma still in a state of emergency this morning. >> i looked out the window, i saw my carport getting blown away. >> i thought, oh, my god. we actually got a tornado. >> reporter: the national weather service is even responding to videos of the dangerous twisters on social media taking to twitter to warn residents still on the roads to take cover now. and now severe thunderstorms are moving into those hard-hit areas. torrential downpours already causing dangerous flooding inundating streets and swamping cars. firefighters forced to rescue stranded drivers marooned by the rising waters. rain is falling at a rate of three inches per hour in some areas. we'll have a closer look at the forecast in less than five minutes. now to the growing calls for impeachment proceedings to begin as president trump frustrates democrats looking for answers in the aftermath of the mueller report. a lone republican congressman is now saying the president obstructed justice and should be impeached. meanwhile, the president has

suffered a new legal setback. that's in his efforts to block democrats from looking into his finances. abc's mona kosar abdi has the latest from washington where a judge has ordered the president's accounting firm to turn over his financial records to congress. mona, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, janai. the battle over the house oversight committee subpoena was the first test to the president's vow to fight all congressional subpoenas, but it likely won't be the last. president trump in campaign mode as he touched down in pennsylvania. >> from now until november 3rd, 2020, we are going to keep on working. we are going to keep on fighting. >> reporter: for trump that fight includes stonewalling ongoing efforts by democrats to probe his administration and his business. >> they all knew there was no collusion. i come to the great state of pennsylvania, and i say, oh, i need some help. let me call, let's see, russia. let's call russia. it's the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on this country. >> reporter: but it was the

president who was dealt the first legal blow by a federal judge in his lawsuit to block a congressional subpoena. the judge siding with the democratic led panel seeking a decade's worth of his personal finances, but the small victory isn't enough to curb the growing calls within the democratic party to start an impeachment inquiry against trump. >> we have a president that is actively trying to cover up and prevent the american people from getting to the truth, and that's not something i think we can tolerate. >> reporter: abc news has learned on monday house speaker nancy pelosi was confronted by top democrats on the issue in a tense closed door meeting and now one of those calls is coming from the republican party. congressman justin amash of trump engaged in impeachable conduct. >> i think it's a process. it's something that should be done. >> reporter: and the president is also blocking former white house counsel don mcga the white house instructed him to ignore a congressional subpoena.

democrats are calling the move the latest act of obstruction from the president. janai, kenneth. >> all right, mona, so much following from washington. thank you so much. abortion rights advocates are planning to protest from coast to coast hoping to fight a wave of restrictive new laws. rallies are planned in nearly every state today after alabama outlawed virtually all abortions last week, even in cases of rape or incest. missouri followed with similar legislation. as the challenges mount against roe v. wade, more people are speaking out including sexual assault survivors. >> prohibition was put in place, people didn't stop drinking. they just became more dangerous. people made their own. less rights than our rapists. we're done having less rights than a fetus. [ chanting ] >> reporter: louisiana's poised to become the next state to restrict abortion rights. the governor, a democrat, is promising to sign a bill making abortion illegal once a heartbeat is detected. in a statement monday vice president mike pence said he hopes to see the, quote, sanctity of life restored to

american law. a new warning about the measles this morning. the cdc has now confirmed cases in 24 states. oklahoma is the latest. nationwide 880 cases have been reported including 41 in the last week. most new cases are in new york. it's the largest number since 1994. another deadly plane crash in alaska. a float plane crashed near the city of ketchikan killing the pilot and passenger. no word on the cause. the plane is owned by taquan air. that's the same company involved in last week's midair collision between sightseeing planes in the same area. six people died in that crash. in north carolina a marine pilot safely ejected before his jet crashed. he walked away from the crash site in the woods. he was based at air station cherry point. the cause of the crash is under investigation. and it's time now for a look at your weather for this tuesday morning. good morning. unfortunately, another round of

the eiffel tower in paris is back open a day after this man climbed nearly to the top. police say he has family troubles. the 2500 visitors who were forced to evacuate yesterday are allowed to return today. there are new questions about safety at a california racetrack after the 25th horse death of the season. the animal rights group peta is calling for all racing at santa anita to be suspended until more safety measures are implemented. the track says it imposed new protocols back in march. some experts have claimed the wet weather's effect on the track's surface has been a factor. so a new study confirms what many women have known for years. we're paying more than men for virtually the same personal care products. online retailers, amazon,d tpaye

checking the calendar it is may 21st, but a new blanket of snow is bringing down trees in the denver area. up to 9 inches fell south of the city. i-70 west of denver was closed for hours. >> nine inches. wow. now to the warning about a great white shark just days before the start of the summer season. >> a nearly ten-foot-long shark has been tracked off the east coast in a place great whites have never been tracked before. beach towns are worried and are scrambling to protect swimmers and their crucial summer tourism dollars. this morning a massive predator venturing into new territory. for the first time ever, a great white shark is being tracked in long island sound just off the coast of connecticut and new york city. the tracking group ocearch says the shark named cabot sent off a

ping off the coast of greenwich monday. the shark's twitter handle sending out this taunting tweet, hello, greenwich, how are you today? cabot is nearly ten feet long and weighs more than 500 pounds. researchers tagged him off nova scotia in september. he then traveled to florida then back north. researchers credit cabot's unexpected cameo on the recent effort to clean up the waters off long island sound. >> it's interesting that he's gone so far west into the sound and i think that's because it's cleaner than ever. i think it's because there's a lot of life there, and they're always on the life, these white sharks. he wouldn't be in there if the water was dirty. >> while the odds of a shark attack are small, the u.s. saw the largest number of unprovoked attacks worldwide last year. cape cod saw its first deadly shark attack in more than 80 years. local researchers believe the sharks are being lured by a growing population of seals. authorities are now taking action by installing emettll bo hp leaticms o trau
