you can see that grain facility behind me is engulfed by water. take a look from our drone. this is a field that now looks like a lake. this is what 8 inches of rain in two days during a wet spring looks like. lakes and rivers where they shouldn't be and this water coupled with tornados has set folks here in the central u.s. scrambling. this morning residents in the plains states surveying the damage after being pounded by severe weather. torrential rains submerging cars, forcing rescues. in el reno, oklahoma, first responders referencing for the stranded using high-water vehicles to pull families from homes. five feet of fast-moving water in spots. this family trapped in the flooding. rescuers eventually reaching them and carrying them to safety. >> when are they going to get here? you hear the choppers. and you're like, come on. >> reporter: parts of major interstate 40 underwater, railroad tracks washed away. >> if you're seeing this, don't do this. turn around. don't drown. >> reporter: flooding taking over this part of oklahoma and

this man pinned under a tree after it crashed into his home. >> can you move your arm? >> you're almost out. >> reporter: tulsa fire crews desperately racing to save him. the storm flipping campers and tearing through lucas oil speedway. the grandstand a pile of twisted metal. overnight officials in oklahoma saying one person died after getting trapped in high water and 11 people have been reported injured. 33 reported tornadoes since yesterday afternoon, mainly in kansas and missouri. this woman was in her car trying to get to shelter when one tornado swept through and leveled the trailer right in front of her. >> i've been through a lot of tornadoes. i never been in one so close. >> the calm after the storm, a beautiful sunrise here across the great american plains framed by some high level cirrus clouds. unfortunately we do expect more storms today in oklahoma, in kansas and missouri with the likelihood of seeing more tornadoes and more in the way of

heavy rains, something obviously we don't need more of, which is water. michael. now we go to ginger back from the storm zone, and, ginger, everyone wants to know where is the system heading next? >> well, listen, michael, i'm back because i could storm chase here. yes, i'm talking about new york city to philadelphia tomorrow, which i'll show you the threat in just a bit, but let me begin with what's happening. we've got that obvious swirl and the storms with flood warnings still in place. remember, a lot of these rivers and creeks reached record levels even in parts of, say, tulsa. now from there through arkansas we're going to see more flooding as the water starts to go downstream so keep that in mind with the flood advisories. move over here. what rob was just looking for and talking about was the damaging wind possible today through tulsa up to missouri, joplin included today, but, remember, it is tomorrow afternoon and evening, right here through most of pennsylvania, harrisburg, scranton, pittsburgh, philadelphia and new york, we've got a shot at severe weather. george? >> okay, ginger, welcome back. we're going to go to washington now where president trump is set to meet top democrats, nancy pelosi and

chuck schumer later today to see if they can reach a deal to rebuild america's infrastructure, but it comes on the heels of an emergency meeting of house democrats where the speaker will face growing calls to start impeachment proceedings against trump. our chief national correspondent terry moran joins us now. the president appeared to lay down new conditions on an infrastructure deal overnight. >> reporter: he did, george. good morning. if there's one thing that americans agree on in this very divided time, it's that the country needs a great big 21st century infrastructure package. that, as you say, was what was on the agenda in this rare meeting between nancy pelosi and chuck schumer and president trump, but at the last minute president trump said he's not going to do infrastructure until congress passes his new nafta, that u.s., mexico, canada agreement which is in some trouble up here, so even when it looks like they can agree, they can't agree. >> they say they have questions about whether the president wants to pay for it. one of the reasons it will be awkward is because nancy pelosi will be coming straight from a meeting with her democrats talking impeachment.

>> reporter: this is such a serious challenge for speaker of the house nancy pelosi, george. with more and more members of the house of representatives, democrats, coming out calling for impeachment, it's not a lot, 25 or so out of 235 democrats, but they're getting more vocal. they're stoking the base and they're saying that they have to go towards impeachment because they see the white house just absolutely stonewalling any possible investigation or oversight. they see a shift in power from congress to the presidency and they believe they have to defend that and that impeachment is the likely way. but public support for it is decidedly tepid right now. >> yeah, not right now. meantime, a leak overnight from the internal revenue service, which calls into question the president's position on not releasing his tax returns. >> reporter: that's right, george. "the washington post" is reporting that a confidential memo from the irs, a staff memo, said that the president must turn over his tax returns when congress asks for them. this is obviously not the position of the administration. this whole thing is going to court, maybe the supreme court across the street here. >> terry moran, thanks very

much. robin? >> another busy day in d.c. now to mcdonald's under fire this morning. the fast food giant facing two dozen lawsuits and complaints alleging sexual harassment. linsey davis is here with those. good morning, linsey. >> good morning, guys. the restaurant industry has one of the highest reported rates of sexual harassment in the workplace, and this morning the time's up movement is zeroing in on the franchise once known for the motto "i'm lovin' it" telling mcdonald's they're not having it after a host of complaints of sexual harassment. this morning, the time's up movement is taking aim at one of the largest companies in the world. >> i heard workers tell stories of being harassed while working at mcdonald's. i reported both men's vile behavior several times. >> reporter: more than two dozen workers accused the company of sexual assault, harassment and gender-based discrimination. time's up supporter top chef padma lakshmi, woman after woman emotionally recounted their tales of harassment. >> does mcdonald's care more about selling burgers and fries than about making sure its employees are safe on the job? >> reporter: britney hoyos says she was sexually harassed by one of her managers when she was just 16, and after she rejected his advances and reported the alleged sexual harassment, she was demoted. >> i wanted to throw in the towel every single day i had to go in for those shifts. >> reporter: brittany's mother worked at the same mcdonald's training to be manager, but after alerting her superiors of the alleged misconduct, she was punished. >> they started to retaliate against me. pretty much my career path where i was becoming manager came to a halt. >> reporter: mcdonald's says it has always had an unyielding commitment to providing a safe and respectful work environment adding that last year after several harassment lawsuits were filed, it had enhanced its policy so that it more clearly informs employees of their rights, more clearly defines sexual harassment,

discrimination and retaliation and underscores how employees can report a complaint if they do not feel comfortable addressing it with a manager. mcdonald's also says that its work is with the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the u.s. and say they've rolled out an interactive training course which focuses on how to spot, address and prevent harassment as well as a third-party hotline for reporting complaints. now, what's interesting, mcdonald's is saying, look, we can't control how sexual harassment operates as far as these franchises are concerned but meanwhile they can tell them down to the pattern of the condiments that are put on each burger. this is something that obviously is not going away. >> this is why time's up was established to help these type of workers. >> exactly, to get beyond hollywood. >> yes, exactly. thank you, linsey. >> thank you. we're going to turn now to that wild scene on the streets of los angeles overnight. an rv leading police on a high-speed chase slamming into cars and trees. the driver's dog even making a desperate escape. abc's adrienne bankert is in los angeles with more.

good morning, adrienne. >> reporter: good morning, michael. yeah, this is just an unreal scene as a result of this chase. six cars in total were hit. two people were injured besides the driver. the dogs are okay and a harrowing ride that lasted half an hour. >> oh, no. >> reporter: this bizarre high-speed pursuit involves a stolen 20-foot rv, a driver on the run and two dogs. >> this is incredible. the driver who is out of control with two large dogs on her lap. >> reporter: the woman behind the wheel weaves in and out of traffic at speeds up to 70 miles per hour through residential neighborhoods in the san fernando valley of los angeles and the chase started around 7:00 p.m. when the california highway patrol says the rv failed to yield. when it looks like the driver is at a dead end in a parking lot, she narrowly into a palm tree which rips the right side wide open. >> she's slamming into everything in her way.

slamming into every pole, every tree, every vehicle in her way. >> reporter: as the driver careens around this corner, one of her dogs leap from the jagged opening in the rv. >> oh, no. the dog is running away. the dog is okay. >> reporter: later she's seen trying to hold on to her other dog while whipping through this upscale neighborhood. that's when she loses control, plows into this sedan. >> oh, no. oh, my goodness. >> reporter: she leaps from what's left of the vehicle running to the front gate of a home, her dog running beside her until the highway patrol officers catch up to her and tackle her to the ground. and investigators say this is a potential dui case. the driver, a woman in her early 40s, is now being held on suspicion of several felony charges including hit and run and animal cruelty. >> wow, what a crazy, crazy story. thanks, adrienne. the latest now in the "varsity blues" college cheating scandal. for the first time one of the parents charged has gone in front of cameras to admit his guilt and apologize. that came after he appeared in court and abc's eva pilgrim has the story. >> reporter: high-powered

attorney gordon caplan publicly apologizing, the first parent caught up in the "varsity blues" scandal to do so saying he's sorry first and foremost to his daughter. >> she knew nothing about it, hasn't even applied to college yet. >> reporter: moments after appearinin a boston federal court, caplan admitted to spending $75,000 to improve his daughter's a.c.t. score. he was one of two parents to plead guilty tuesday to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. >> i'm also sorry to all the other kids out there who are in the college admission process and to all the parents helping them and supporting them, i'm truly sorry. >> reporter: in wiretapped calls with rick singer, the so-called mastermind behind the scheme, he can allegedly be heard telling caplan to be stupid during a psychological exam authorized to get extra time to do the a.c.t so a proctor could change her answers

after. to be honest, i'm not worried about the moral issue here. i'm worried about the if she's caught doing that, you know, she's finished. as part of his plea deal prosecutors agreeing to recommend eight months in prison and a $40,000 fine. caplan, 1 of 33 parents caught up in the scheme. last week actress felicity huffman also pleading guilty after admitting to paying $15,000 to have an s.a.t. proctor correct the answers on her daughter's exam writing in a statement, i am in full acceptance of my guilt. i am ashamed of the pain i have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community. parents in more affluent communities are more likely to know about the option and more likely to be able to afford to pay for the evaluation to get the designation for extra test taking time. just the differences for students. >> a lot of scrutiny of the whole process right now. thanks, eva. now to the fallout

surrounding a popular children's show, "arthur." alabama public television refusing to air a recent episode featuring a same-sex marriage. paula faris has more on that story for us. good morning, paula. >> good morning, robin. it aired nationally last week except in alabama where it was preempted with a rerun and this morning, alabama public television is defending its decision. ♪ and i say hey ♪ hey >> reporter: this morning, cartoon controversy after alabama public television refused to air the premiere episode of the hit children's series "arthur," which depicted a same-sex wedding of one of its most popular characters. >> -- getting married. ♪ >> me. >> reporter: in the episode mr. ratburn, arthur's teacher, was seen walking down the aisle with his aardvark partner. >> mr. ratburn is married. i still can't believe this. >> yep, it's a brand-new world. >> reporter: the episode part of arthur's 22nd season already aired on pbs stations nationally, but kids in alabama will have to find it elsewhere.

mike mckenzie, director of programming of alabama public television tells al.com, although we strongly encourage parents to watch television with their children and talk about what they have learned afterwards, parents trust that their children can watch a.p.t. without their supervision. the decision sparked a flurry of outrage on social media. glaad calling out the decision in this tweet, lgbtq people exist in every part of life. so the claim that someone could be too young to know that lgbtq people exist is absurd and sends a dangerous message to lgbtq youth. the show's creator, marc brown, speaking to cbc news last week. >> the more we talked about it, the more we saw it as an opportunity for a learning experience and this great way to represent another part of life that so seldom gets portrayed on television.

say, had been in place for months, the husband only found out about it a few days ago when police told him that they needed his help. they needed him to fake his own death. >> i didn't want to believe it. but apparently it's true. >> what convinced you? >> when the feds staged my death. >> reporter: isaiah carvalho was supposed to be dead by now according to this crinal complaint that his ex-wife, an nypd officer, orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot where he was one of two intended targets. >> i was shocked. i was taken back by the whole thing. i didn't know how to react. >> reporter: federal investigators say 34-year-old valerie cincinelli, a 12-year nypd veteran, asked her boyfriend to hire a hit man to kill not only her estranged husband carvalho but also her boyfriend's teenage daughter allegedly giving him $7,000 to

pay the hit man. but instead investigators say cincinelli's boyfriend turned to authorities and agreed to have his conversations with her recorded by the fbi. details of the alleged plan laid bare in the criminal complaint including where and when she is said to have wanted the murders to take place saying it would not look suspicious because the murder would take place in the hood or the ghetto and that if she was questioned by police, she would have nothing to worry about because she would be home at the time of the murders. cincinelli had allegedly been plotting since february, but carvalho only found out friday when police showed up at his home with a request. >> they ended up taking me to an undisclosed location and had me fake my death and took pictures of it. >> what was that like for you? >> the craziest thing i ever had to experience in my life. >> what did they have you do that morning?

>> they had me sit in my car. they put glass on the floor and all over me and had me hunch over into the passenger seat. >> reporter: as part of the fbi sting, detectives went to cincinelli's home to say her husband was murdered and later fbi agents posing as the hit man texted the fake death photos for her to see. cincinelli's family has come to her defense this week. >> i guarantee you my daughter is innocent of this. >> if or when maybe i should say you have an opportunity to speak to her again, what are you itching to say to her? >> why? >> you don't seem to have the faintest idea of why right now. >> no. >> now, cincinelli has not entered a plea. again, she is being held without bond at this point. a lot of questions but the family, the father you heard there, he said there's something else going on and believe she's

possible prison time for their alleged involvement in a college admissions scandal "varsity blues." loughlin has pleaded not guilty in the case. what should they expect if they have to do prison time? >> the girls in prison are going to be fans. they want to know what it's like to live with a movie star or, you know, a television star. they want to know about your case. everybody in there, every single woman that i came in contact with, just wants to tell their story. i don't know those two ladies personally but from their television personas, i don't think they would have the same issues that i had. >> okay. >> because, you know, everybody knows me as being tough and mean and yelling at little kids. >> after leaving prison in march 2018, miller was ready to start a new life, but then another setback. she was diagnosed with burkitt lymphoma discovered after an emergency back surgery. what would have happened had

they said go home? >> i would have been dead ten minutes. >> you were that close to dying? >> that close to dying. i was paralyzed from the neck down. no movement because this cancer, this lymphoma was choking my spinal cord. >> miller endured ten rounds of chemo and two surgeries. she still can't walk. >> do the doctors anticipate that you'll be able to walk again? >> yes. right now my biggest issue is my right knee. i have needed a knee replacement for about seven years now. >> when do you wanto walk again? >> right now, today. >> what does that say about you that you beat this strong cancer? >> well, i'm tough and, you know, i firmly believe that all the world is a stage and we are merely the players. so i think this was all destiny. it was supposed to happen this way and it did and i'm just following the script. >> one word to describe how different you are? >> more appreciative. thankful. >> reporter: now 52, miller is getting back to what she does best. >> i've been given a second chance.

air for more than 15 year, kudrow says she still is self-conscious about her weight. >> it's not fat. it's like loose muscle and then i just go, all right. so what? all right. just -- you're older. that's a good thing. >> and kudrow says she still has to battle all the time with body image issues, but she tries to be more at peace with it. that's -- you know what, growing older is a gift and that's what we all have to remember. >> yes, it is. my kids' favorite show and they love her. >> same as my girls. >> and we all love her. >> all right. over to you, robin. a "gma" health alert about cbd. it's becoming more and more popular as you know and now a new study is taking a look at how it could help opioid users. dr. jennifer ashton is here with the results. tell us about the study. >> first some terminology. people hear cbd and think i'm going to get high. absolutely not true. cbd does not have thc or a psycho active component in it. the terminology is confusing, the laws are confusing but

generally cbd comes from hemp and this study, very small study, but done in new york at mt. sinai and took patients who were heroin use dependent patients, gave them two strengths of cbd compared it with a sugar pill, placebo and the results were very interesting and found that the patients who got both strains of cbd, 400 and 800 milligrams had two to three times less cravings for heroin or opioid and dropped their cortisol which was an end point to measure their anxiety. so while it was a small study and needs more women, the results suggest it may be a possible therapeutic target for the millions of people who are dependent on opioids. >> okay, so how much do we know about cbd and how it's used? >> robin, this field is in its infancy. >> it is exploding? >> it is absolutely exploding. the bulk of the good scientific data comes from canada and israel. the best medical therapeutic modality is forhe use of cbd

"nightline's" juju chang, do tell, juju. >> we all know somebody like this. in the olden days when your kid did something great, you maybe picked up the phone, but now we post about it. when does posting about your child or oversharenting become an invasion of their privacy? for the mother and daughter you're about to meet, that question turned into a showdown. >> oh, hi. >> reporter: from first steps all the way to graduation, parents love to post about their kids on social media, but this morning, some parents facing backlash from their own children after oversharing. >> to be honest, i was very upset. >> reporter: 14-year-old lillian asked her mother not to post any photos of her without permission, but her mom kate admits she just couldn't resist. >> i knew she didn't want me to share them. i justified it by saying, oh, it's fine, it's a cute picture, like why wouldn't she want me to share that or why would she care because she looks cute.

i thought she looked cute. but that's not really the issue, is it? >> it really wasn't the picture that i was upset about. it just was her -- she posted it after. i clearly like didn't want her to. >> and i had agreed not to. >> yeah. >> reporter: all of these photos were approved by lillian for us to use. mom kate has since pulled down the photos in question, and they've been deleted. actress gwyneth paltrow recently finding herself in muddy waters posting this image with her daughter apple who quickly scolded her, mom, we have discussed this. you may not post anything without my consent. >> this is a huge issue. we're all on social media and all of our kids are on social media. so we're now going to have to navigate the parental/child relationship in the realm of social media. >> reporter: child and adolescent psychologist, jody gould, says parents of middle schoolers and above should get consent from their kids before posting and warns that when your kids are too young to care, use

discretion. >> the baby pictures are lovely but the naked pictures in the bathroom are really cute but will a 20, 25-year-old child really appreciate them? maybe not. >> reporter: and it's not just photos. recently an anonymous middle schoolers vented on reddit. my mom has posted literally every aspect of my life. if we get in a fight, she's on facebook asking for advice. i feel like i have absolutely no privacy. i can't talk to my own mother for fear she'll post it on social media. i'm her child, not her dog. >> parenting 101 is about keeping the dialogue open. as long as your kids are talking to you, you're doing a good job as a parent. it is very dangerous if you start posting information about what's going on with you and your child because you'll shut down that dialogue immediately and you'll lose your child's trust. >> reporter: as for lillian and her mom -- >> when it's very clear that it's something they don't want you to do, damage could be done if you don't -- if you don't pay attention to that and show them that, okay, i respect that. it's not my story to tell anymore.

it's something she wants to have control over. >> you're your own person. you always were. but you, you know, now she's got her own image to manage. >> it is all about that control. teenagers want to control their images and their reputation rightly so. now mom kate says she has stopped posting anything about lillian without her permission. but the irony is that many of these bad behavior posts get a lot of likes which just reinforces that bad behavior, but as parents, maybe before we teach our kids the difference between what's appropriate and not, we have to look in the mirror, right? >> okay. so you have three adorable sons. what's your policy? >> well, i get permission, not just about images. i have to clear it. and then i have to get the caption cleared and, in fact, i think we have one image of my son that i ran by him because he thought the caption was funny. the caption was proof that he never puts his phone down. and he was okay with that. but the truth is, i'm surprised

talk to them, but first here's a look at their journey. 31-year-old victoria brady battled with her weight all her life. >> my nickname growing up was butterball. i was very insecure with that. i couldn't keep up when all the other kids would run and play. >> reporter: as she grew up her weight began to hold her back. >> i was worried about putting myself out there due to my size. i found myself settling as a result of my weight because i felt like i wasn't worthy of what other people got. >> reporter: she topped out at 275 pounds after the birth of her first son. >> when the doctor stated that she was concerned with my son's weight at a year and a half, i knew it was time for me to make a change. >> reporter: 41-year-old laura rosenthal didn't have a problem with weight growing up. >> i played soccer. and so i was a very active kid. when i look back at those pictures, good grief, i was thin as could be. >> reporter: then in her 20s her weight started to climb. >> i definitely developed a lot of bad habits.

in my life, i would just gorge on fast food breakfast lunch and dinner. i remember co-workers would say one of these days it will catch up with you. >> reporter: at her highest laura was 271 pounds. >> i was getting just beat down by everything. my bones hurt. you know, my knees hurt. my ankles hurt. >> reporter: when she turned 40, she decided it was time to make a change. >> i just thought, i am 100% committed to this, and i don't care how hard it is. i'm going to do it, and i am going to change my life. >> reporter: now these women are half their size, and you can see their transformations right now. healthy substitutes, for instance. i'm a busy mom on the go working full time. so for me, one thing that i found to substitute for my fave which was blueberry muffins was egg muffins, something that you can add veggies in. it's filling, and it's perfect to eat on the go. >> and i see chocolate here. so you didn't deny yourself totally. >> at all. i love candy bars, reese's, snickers, so a perfect way to get that chocolate in for me was doing it with fruit. but dark chocolate so i got the best of both worlds. >> you sure did. all right. so just a reminder, 275 pounds to start. your second son inspired you. >> yes. >> let's take a look, everybody, on the big scale how much victoria lost. there it is, 125 pounds. come on. give a spin. you got to show everybody. yes, honey, yes!
