there. the worst day is actually not today. reporter anser hassan live for us at a gas station in san jose. hi, anser. >> reporter: good morning. those of you looking to get out of town this memorial day weekend, today may be the day to do it. aaa says the worst time to travel will be saturday between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. aaa is predicting to be the second busiest holiday travel period in about 20 years. gas prices are up but according to the u.s. bureau of labor statistics bay area gas prices have actually dropped from their peak in april. the average price of gas is just over $4. $4.07 in oakland. $4.05 in san jose. even with high gas prices aaa says that prices are actually about the same as they were this time last year. they also say consumer spending remains strong with families spending much of their disposable income on travel. now this gas station here in

alum rock in san jose you can see unleaded prices about $3.87. 18 cents less than the average price here in san jose. now if you hit heavy traffic in the bay area, it's not just people trying to get out of town. san francisco is among the top ten destinations people will visit this holiday weekend. so it will be a lot of traffic. reporting live, anser hassan, abc 7 news. >> anser, thank you. san francisconvti are searching for two women they believe commit add violent robbery. police released these surveillance images. detectives say the attack happened in the evening march 31st in the financial district. there we go. two women attacked and robbed another woman and left her seriously hurt. obviously if you know who these people are, call police. the san francisco medical examiner is working to determine if bones found at this home belong to a person or an animal. abc 7 news was at the mission district property yesterday. you can see police sealed off the home around 21st and folsom.

the bones were found buried hyped the home. honoring the behind of a castro valley girl m years ago. jenny lynn was killed two days after her 14th birthday. her father found her body in the upstairs bathroom of their home. she had been stabbed several times. her killer still has not been caught. monday marks the anniversary of her death and today's memorial at castro valley followed by a candlelight walk at 7:00 p.m. 5:04. altered videos of speaker nancy pelosi have gone viral. >> the manipulated clips make her sound as if she's drunkenly slurring her words. >> so it's really sad and here's the thing, i told this to the room -- >> they were edited. amanda del castillo talked to political and tech experts about why we should all be concerned. >> that he was in a cover-up.

>> reporter: this video posted to social media calls into question speaker nancy pelosi's sobriety, slurred speech, slow movement, the result of a manipulated video. >> it's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. there's a lot of expectation that stuff like what's happening to speaker pelosi is going to expand a lot. >> reporter: what's happening, deep fake technology, ultimately allows someone t situations tha happened or ones that happened very differently. we wanted to know how difficult manipulating a video would be so the man behind the camera sat down and worked his magic. and here was the result. you can tell the difference. you can hear it and you can see it. it takes work to get the video just right which is why many of the clips are still identifiable. this edited video was posted to facebook and twitter. youtube has removed it from its platform. still, millions of views.

thousands of shares. viral misinformation that has the power to shape public perception ahead of the 2020 election. >> you don't have that with parity or satire. >> reporter: simple manipulation, believable to some. others are convinced deep fake technology is another twist to political satire. >> everything moves at incredible speed and something we were just hearing about for the first time today has already been discredited. >> reporter: thishe first time we're seeing this type of technology take over social media. experts are saying it's only advancing. in the south bay bureau i'm amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. here at the live desk we learned a curfew has been lifted in jefferson city, missouri, after violent tornadoes swept through the state. the mayor issued the curfew last night warning people to stay indoors between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

the curfew may be issued again tonight. jefferson city was directly hit by an ef-3 tornado on wednesday night, at least 20 people were hurt. three people died in another tornado in golden city, missouri. a total of seven people have died from these violent storms this week. weather expected to ease up for the weekend, but right now majo concern. we're watching things closely, mike. >> inthought our weekend was going to be tough. they are worried about the next round or two that's coming in. here is a look at what's going on. 52 in foster city. 51 in menlo park. 52 in daly city. mid-50s on either side of the peninsula. 48 in los gatos. 51 right now in san rafael. everyone else in the mid to upper 50s. a mild morning. a look at santa cruz, about 68 degrees here. out and about strong sunshine. if you're going to our beaches lighter breezes and not the rough surf we were dealing with yesterday. and out on the bay no small

craft advisory. pretty peaceful this afternoon and early evening. up in the north bay the next 12 hours at 7:00 we're in the 50s until 9:00. low 70s with sunshine. mostly sunny conditions. 66. in the east bay, 57. at 7:00, 60 at 9:00. mid to upper 60s from 11:00 all the way through 5:00. going to drop off quickly to 60 degrees under sunshine at 7:00. and san francisco, yeah, we'll make a run into the low 60s to mid-60s this afternoon. if you're heading out this evening, mid-50s. all is quiet so far. an update on sunday's rain up next. light conditions via the bay bridge. take a look at this. no metering lights yet and it looks good, hoping for friday light and so far it's paying off for us. we'll take a look at the golden gate bridge where we have reports of a stall just south of the toll plaza heading in the northbound direction blocking the second lane from the left. hopefully they'll push that out of there rather quickly but so

breaking news, british prime minister theresa may calling it quits. she made the announcement this morning. she plans to resign as uk nsvative partyn june 7th. and her future has really been uncertain for a few months now because of her handling of brexit. her resignation triggers a contest to become britain's next prime minister. she will stay on as a caretaker prime minister until the new leader is chosen, and here's her announcement outside 10 downing street. >> i will shortly be leaving the job that has been the honor of my life to hold. the second female prime minister but certainly not the last. i do so with no ill will but with enormous and enduring gratitude to have had the opportunity to serve the country i love. >> she walks away after that, but you heard her get really emotional. she faced relentless pressure from her partyakriinut o

merchandise. their plan is interrupted by a police officer who was driving by and saw them. he chases the group and they all get arrested. this 18-year-old is in jail. the other four were arrested and released to their parents. they are juveniles so they're not releasing their names. shoppers reacted to the news. >> they're just getting very bold about walking into stores and taking and thinking they can get away with it. >> it'sy. both work, pay for ou. it's making things harder. >> reporter: now look at this video from the dick's in fairfield. three women stealing merchandise while yelling at security officers to g am them d to not touch them. this happened earlier this month. police now want to know if the suspects in pleasant hill were possibly involved in fairfield. police say they are going to be on guard and stay on guard here in this area.

they say they will continue to patrol the parking lot of this shopping center. reporting live in pleasant hill, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. it's 5:35. police confirm they have made arrests after a dismembered body was found in a home. it was discovered monday in a house on dell month street in the outer mission. officers found it during a welfare check on a 73-year-old man named benedict ching who was reported missing. investigators are trying to identify the remains. police have not provided any specifics about the suspects. and in the south bay this is the man san jose police say vandalized a memorial forte he wasyeerdas merial along park avenue in the downtown area was graffiti. the suspect was booked no jail for felony vandalism. in the north bay marine mammal experts are investigating the death of another whale. sky 7 first spot this had whale

you'll see the people in the mural are moving. it's a digital piece. the chronicles of san francisco is what it's called. it's an interactive video collage that works in tandem with an app on your phone that shows video of more than 1,200 people filmed in 22 locations and the artist behind it is named j.r., born in france. he came to san francisco after being inspired by murals that diego rivera painted in the 1930s and '40s. >> a disparity because of the complexity of the city. it's like a giant puzzle where everyone has to go to the place they decided and i composed the mural around them. >> look at that. you see a live birth, a ballerina dancing. the mural will be in the free portion of the museum for the next year. there's no reason not to go and check it out. >> looking for a permanent home after that. >> it's on display now.
