they will be taken to juvenile hall. reporting live in antioch, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. it is now coming up on 4:30. if you're just waking up, an update on your weather and traffic. all right, guys. let's take a look at my 12 hour day planner. by the time we get to 7:00 we'll be in the low to upper 50s. the 50s are dominant at the coast as are mid-60s. even though we'll see a little more sunshine today and less wet weather, it's not going to be the warmest day to be outside, that's for sure. it's going to be quite breezy along the coast. let me show you the winds right now and you can see they are firmly coming ashore and that's why even though today is drier, it's not going to feel very warm whatsoever. that will come in a couple days. i'll show you that up next. in terms of traffic very light on this memorial day. a live look at the golden gate bridge. we can count the cars on one hand right now. drive times all in the green. president trump is continuing formal talks with

japan's prime minister on day three of his four-day visit to the country. the president is addressing trade tensions with the nation while concern about north korea and iran looms over his visit.e making history as the first world leader to meet with japan's new emperor. the japanese rolling out the red carpet for trump and first lady melania at a welcome ceremony full of pageantry and sumo wrestling. >> grand champion i awarped you the united states president's cup. >> reporter: that event preceded by a round of golf with prime minister shinzo abe. the two wasted no time beginning formal talks, addressing matters at the center of the president's state visit. >> we are going to discuss various challenges of the international community including north korea. of course we are going to cover bilateral economic issues between japan and the united states. >> reporter: however, despite concerns expressed by trump's

national security adviser, john bolton, and prime minister abe about north korea's recent missile tests, the president tweeted mid trip that he is confident chairman kim will keep his promise to him and that he wasn't bothered by the, quote, small weapons fired off. >> i personally think that lots of good things will come with north korea. >> reporter: his trip also comes amid trade tensions between the two countries escalated by threats trump made earlier this month to raise auto tariffs calling imported vehicles a threat to national security. >> we will talk to japan about autos. i will say at the same time since i'm president many auto companies have announced and have actually built and are building plants in the united states. >> reporter: president trump called former president barack obama's administration a disaster on the economy and the iran nuclear deal. he also said that he isn't a fan of joe biden.

it's 4:32 now. a shooting investigation is under way at one of san francisco's most popular parks. people ran as shots rang out last night at dolores park. one man was shot. he is expected to survive. abc 7 news was at the park while police searched for clues. people visiting the park told us the shooting happened around 5:00. >> i heard, like, two gunshots go off and they kind of sounded like fireworks. i didn't know what it was at first. and then i saw a whole bunch of people running down the hill. we got our stuff and ran off as well. >> it sounded like fireworks. the only thing scary was everybody started running towards us. >> police have not made any arrests and have not shared a description of the suspect. >> reporter: happening today thousands of people will pay tribute to the fallen at the annual memorial day ceremony held in the presidio. the parade starts at 10:30 at the officers club. mayor london breed will be at

the over the weekend volunteers placed a flag at every grave. also happening today in alameda a memorial day ceremony on a "uss hornet." the hornet band will perform and there will be a tossing of a wreath into san francisco bay. today's tribute ceremony starts at 11:00. b.a.r.t., muni, ac transit, vta, golden gate transit all running on those holiday schedules. schools, post offices, banks, and most government offices are closed. san francisco parking meters are being enforced. now to the east bay, the new haven unified school district and striking teachers still have not reached a deal. >> right. and teachers are saying they will go back to the picket line this week. the district expects students to be in school when classes resume tomorrow. abc 7 news was at the alameda county office of education yesterday as teachers and district administrators met for a ten-hour bargainingexwo schoo.

the district says it simply can't afford that. >> we are struggling to keep teachers in the area. we're struggling to have teachers who can live close by to where they work. >> this is their strike. they called it. they can call it off. we are exceptionally motivated to get our teachers back in the classroom with our kids. >> today marks one week since teachers walked off the job. and, by the way, on friday only 9% of students showed up for class. 4:35 now and we're learning some new details about the california man killed by a shark after being attacked off the coast of maui. officials say 65-year-old thomas smiley was from granite bay northeast of sacramento. he was swimming about 60 yards off the shore on saturday morning. lifeguards found him unresponsive in the water. a witness describes the scene. >> they pulled the man up. he looked unconscious when they transferred him to the other gurney and we could see they were trying to do cpr on him.

as we got closer i saw some blood. it was really traumatic to see. >> and so far this year there have been 16 shark attacks with one death, and that follows a very akictive season last year that saw 32 attacks and one death. the woman who survived more than a week in the hawaii forest has been released. amanda eller is now resting at home after a terrifying ordeal. doctors say she is in good health after spending 17 days lost in the eastern part of maui. eller says she survived off water and fruit in the forest. rescuers found her on friday. >> a miracle, right? coming up, time running out for lawmakers to pass many bills. the issues they must tackle by friday. and a possible merger for fiat, chrysler and renault. i'll explain the advantages the deal could give the automakers if approved. and representation matters. gillette is getting a lot of praise for the man featured in

their new ad. that's all ahead. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast, even on a holiday. hi, mike. it's a cool start. walnut creek, 49. danville, 48. low to mid-50s for the rest of our east bay inland neighborhoods. on top of mt. diablo where we had all those weddings last friday it's 41 degrees right now. let's take a look at some other neighborhoods. this is going to be our coldest morning this week. look at these mid to upper 40s in the north bay valleys, pacifica, to 45 in los gatos. everybody else in the low to mid-50s. here is a look at those temperatures. yeah, we're up to six degrees cooler in the north bay. even three in mt. view and concord. one degree cooler in san francisco. if you're trying to get into san francisco here is a look at the western side of the bay bridge. i wish it was that quiet every day, don't you? driving is quiet, no need to worry about wet weather. it's going to be cool to, we'll say, mild. mid-60s. may 27th, that's not really all

that warm. and then the ferry ride, caution, it's going to be breezy north of the bay bridge. let's break down some nibdz starting at 7:00. we're in the 50s on the north bay until 9:00. 61 at 11:00. mid to upper 60s throughout the afternoon into the early evening hours. for the east bay, we're going to be in the upper 50s, mid to upper 50s all the way through 11:00 and then low 60s in the afternoon hours to 58 at 7:00. our last stop for this go-around will be san francisco. locked in the mid to upper 50s all afternoon under a partly sunny sky. now going to be dry today. not going to see a ton of sunshine but it is coming along with those 80s. see you with that in just a second. here is a look at what's happening on the roads. nothing. san jose, 101. no incidents. very few cars on the road. drive times as you can see all in the green. if you have to go somewhere this morning, then, like us, something went weird in your

trying to kick off summer today, not so much. up in lake tahoe they're having a snowy memorial day. look at this. the view shared by squaw valley resort. the region could see showers with possible thunderstorms all this week.

we knew yesterday was going to be the coldest day, the best day with snowstorms possible. 53 in yosemite. we'll be near 70 through the central valley. mid-60s down in l.a. and san diego. you know they have to be crying where is summer? it's been unusually chilly for them, also. a look at heavenly. break out the seven-day forecast. only one day, that's tomorro, that i don't have a chance of thunderstorms or wet weather. if you're going to be out and about here at home, a beautiful shot from the exploratorium seeing more break in the cloud cover than yesterday. high amounts of tree pollen, weed and grass. wear the uv index. you'll be happy you did.

this morning we have learned there's a possible major merger in the car industry. fiat chrysler wants to merge with renault. the move could save both companies billions of dollars and allow them to focus on pivoting their businesses into electric and self-driving technology. company officials say they won't cut any production jobs although some management positions could be eliminated. the french government which owns 15% of renault is cautious about the new merger idea. the assembly and senate face a deadline to pass or reject bills. bills on the table deal with police use of force, rent control and economy labor laws. also left to be decided a bill on how data collected from smart speakers can be used and a bill preventing high medical bills. the golden state warriors head to canada to face the toronto raptors for the nba finals this week and they will be playing against some familiar

faces like shooting guard who left golden state after winning his second championship ring. also jeremy lin who grew up in palo alto and played for the warriors in 2010. this will be his first time playing in the championship. and abc 7 is the only place to watch the golden state warriors in the nba finals. you can catch game one this thursday, tipoff at 6:00 p.m. gillette showing support for the lgbt community and a new ad showing a transgender man shaving his face for the first time. >> i went no my transition just wanting to be happy. i'm glad i'm at the point where i'm able to shave. south, south, north, north, east, west, never in a hurry. right. >> gillette shared this ad on its facebook page as part of its my best self campaign. the star is canadian artist sampson brown. he said the ad will bring hope to other transgender people. >> oh, boy, i haven't even seen

ukiah. 67 today in napa. fremont, 65. 63 in oakland. here's a look at tonight's temperatures and notice there's not as many 40s as this morning. i think really this morning is our coolest morning moving forward. ukiah, lake port, santa rosa at 49. everybody else 50 to 54 degrees. plenty of cloud cover along the coast, at least from the golden gate southward and you can see most of the cloud cover south of this area, also. let me show you what's going on. we have several areas of low pressure spinning around. the one that brought us the showers yesterday now kind of near vegas and the high desert spinning around. on the back side of that another chunk of energy that's not going to bring us any wet weather but will keep the clouds in the forecast for today. so we won't completely clear up but will need the sunglasses from time to time. not quite as breezy and chilly as yesterday but still we're stuck in the 60s. look at how much warmer we are tomorrow. five to ten degrees and then you see our first touch of 80s wednesday and more for friday,

in the world. this will be his second time competing in the national spelling bee. >> i mean, i am nervous. i just keep it in but not as nervous as probably most people are. >> he works with a coach via video chat and hopes to become the sixth resident to win the spelling bee. the test will be held today and the televised on stage competition begins tomorrow. you can catch the action on espn and we are wishing mark luck. disney's second run at a live action film is off to a good start. >> "aladdin" brought in $86 million in north america starring will smith and is a remake of the 1992 animated film. disney is the parent company of abc 7 news. so here are the top five movies after "aladdin" is last week's number one "john wick." "pokemon." you can see it's clear. a few low clouds out there. look at these temperatures. it is not going to feel like summer here. if you are going out to the ceremonies, make sure you bundle up a bit. sunglasses, sunscreen and dress for temperatures in the low to upper 60s about 5 to 15 degrees cooler than average. thank you so much. let's look at your traffic conditions now. the drive through the altamont pass, our usual trouble spot, look, it's gorgeous and green. traffic flowing at 60 miles an hour there. there is a high wind advisory issued. be aware of that. our 680 camera and walnut creek no incidents and traffic flowing smoothly. things could be a little different later on today as people are driving home from their memorial day getaways. aaa says 43 million nationwide
