i'm at a loss of words. being a father of two boys. >> yeah, he was really shaken up, obviously really cared how the little girl was doing and he stopped by the section where the girl was sitting. a security guard had to comfort him. witnesses say she was awake and alert when being carried away. baseball extended the netting along the foul lines in the ballparks two years ago, but the girl was actually sitting just past where that netting ends. >> no update on her condition. we'll keep watching that. we're all wishing her the best. building a better bay area sometimes involves making tough decisions. a garden loved by the community could soon be removed to make way for a retail building. the fative plant garden has grown over the last 20 years, but so have property values at race street and garland avenue. a plan to build stores on this same site was approved. the garden's operator plans to meet with san jose's planning commission and mayor sam liccardo hoping to save this

observing, san mateo. tonight low to mid-50s with the cloud cover out there. not as much drizzle as this morning. the storm prediction center says we have a chance of thunderstorms today. they tend to broaden it a little bit farther than what the models are saying because the models aren't always 100% correct. we'll start 7:00 this morning. you can see the cloud cover over the bay. that's what most of us are worried about. it sticks in the bay, even at lunch while everyone else is clearing inland. we've got chances of showers and thunderstorms developing in lake and mendocino counties and sliding southward into the northern part of sonoma county. the drizzle this morning, there is a possibility that we could have some slick spots as it could be measurable in a few areas. as we head into the afternoon hours you can see the best chance is up in the north bay. my accuweather forecast, mid to upper 80s inland, friday through monday. low to upper 70s around the bay, even some 60s at the coast.

this was due to two issues, a switching problem on the tracks and a fire that is now tapped out. happening today the man accused of intentionally plowing his car into a crowd of pedestrians in sunnyvale will be in court. >> isaiah peoples faces multiple counts of attempted murder. today the judge could tack on even more charges. reporter jobina fortson is live for us at the courthouse. good morning, jobina. >> reporter: good morning. isaiah peoples is already facing eight attempted murder charges. these hate crime charges would add on to that. the santa clara county district attorney's office told us they were hopig to make this decision by today. still questions as to the motive for the crash that happened last month. prosecutors say peoples, who is an army veteran, was on his way to bible study.

he plowed into a cross walk at sunnyvale avenue. peoples' attorney told us his client's mental health state will be a critical factor i the case. family members claim peoples suffers from ptsd and is not a racist. last night an interfaith unity solidarity event in support of muslims was held at the senior center in light of this incident. investigators do believe peoples targeted his victims based on their race and also his belief that they were of the muslim faith. reporting live in san jose, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. an 80-year-old man was left with life threatening injuries. >> the shocking scene caught on surveillance video from the tenderloin station. take a look here. you can seep the stolen kia running on to the sidewalks slamming into scaffolding and pinning a pedestrian against it. the female driver then backs up

and hits a backed car as dozens of police officers pour out of the station. seconds later she hit the 80-year-old man. >> i thought it was a movie, they were filming a movie because it was unreal. we didn't hear any sirens when it all unfolded. >> the driver hit two cars before slamming into a police car on sixth street when she was then arrested. her name has not yet been released. developing news in europe, searchers are looking for at least 21 people missing after a sightseeing boat sank in hungary. seven others died and all of those passengers were from south korea. the boat carrying 33 south koreans sank after it collided into a larger cruise ship. hungarian officials say none of the south korean tourists were wearing life vests. south korea is sending a team to

budapest to assist its citizens. a strong earthquake struck off el salvador's coast overnight. the 6.6 quake struck in the pacific ocean about 17 miles. people felt the shaking it el salvador's capital san salvador. pg&e wants to be able to shut off power to san francisco during power season. happening today the califonia public utilities commission will consider that proposal. if approved pg&e would be able to shut off power to areas with a high wildfire risk like the east bay. "the chronicle" reports some transmission lines there are connected to power lines in the city of san francisco so that means a shutoff in the east bay would impact the city. earlier this month cal fire determined pg&e equipment started the campfire. it's the deadliest wildfire in state history. happening today five bay area spellers will compete in the final rounds. >> we are well represented and take a look, here they are.
