news to build a better bay area. this is abc 7 mornings. hi, everyone. you've made it to your saturday, june isst. thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with your accuweather forecast. here's lisa argen tracking live doppler 7. >> as we look at live doppler 7, plenty of low clouds and fog, even mist and drizzle along the bay. visibility down to a quarter of a mile to the north in petaluma and half mile in santa rosa and two miles on the coast. temperatures are in the 50s. 50 at the shoreline. half moon bay as well as novato and 54 in hayward. here's the plan today. we are starting out with the gray skies and the fog, the patchy drizzle and as we get through the noon hour, temperatures will be in the 70s

along the bay and upper 70s and we are warming up. inland back into the low 80s staying cool at the coast, but it looks like june is starting off into a typical pattern. we'll talk about the second half of the weekend in a few minutes. chris? >> lisa, thank you. >> developing news. 13 people including the gunman are dead and four others injured. this after the gunman opened fire in the municipal center. the sheeooter was a disgruntled employee. >> good morning, chris, the governor calls this the worst kind of tragedy. everyone in the office red for the summertime weekend when the shooter who lost his job with the city started firing. >> today is virginia beach's darkest hour. more than a dozen dead in a virginia beach mass shooting. law enforcement sources confirming to abc news that 40-year-old dewayne craddock, a longtime public utilities

employees, who had recently been terminated entered the virginia beach municipal center and fired indiscriminately among his now former coworkers. >> he has access to the weapon. >> caller is advising of a male in front of building 2. >> the carnage began just after 4:00 friday afternoon and spread throughout the building. police saying they found victims on all three floors and another in a vehicle outside. employees describe hiding in terror. >> we heard gunshots. we kept hearing gunshots and we kept hearing the cops saying get down. >> four officers quickly responded zeroing in on the shooter. >> i'm going in. call the units. going to the second floor. >> a lengthy gun battle soon followed. the shooter rained heavy gun fire even hitting an officer in the bulletproof vest before he was shot and killed. investigators recovered multiple extended magazines at the keen and a 45-caliber handgun. >> the suspect was reloading

extended magazines in the handgun firing at victims throughout the building and at our officers. >> the community in shock. anthony daniels was speaking with a local affiliate about his wife who was inside when suddenly an emotional reunion. the couple reunited in the last video are some of the lucky few. so many families didn't get their reunion. the mayor of virginia beach said today is the most devastating day in virginia's history. >> abc 7 news sat down with instructors. the local company uses live scenarios to train civilians and law enforcement on how to handle violent situations. as abc 7 news anchor dan ashley explains. the co-owner said the program stresses four steps for preparedness. >> first is preventative, surro being able to identify threats before they become threats and trying to get there as fast as

possible gun violence created a tense last day of school as a campus was put on lockdown. police arrested a male student accused of bringing a gun to santa rosa high school. at one point the lockdown ran through last night's graduation ansar hassan has more. >> the benavidez family. >> i am scared for my son and i am outside the school and he said i'm okay. her son was among the high school students who were on lockdown in the gym this morning. some even hid in the locker room. police say a 15-year-old student who was already suspended from school for another violation allegedly brought a gun to campus. police say he wanted to show the gun to his friend to other students reported the incident. > one of the students reportsed he observed the other student rack back the firearm, as in pulling back the slide of the firearm. >> the student who had fled campus. police found him a few hours later. after being arrested, the

time right now is 5:13. we are taking a live look outside from the golden gate bridge camera. the bridge is pretty much fogged in on this saturday morning and these drivers off to an early start and very quiet out there and we'll get a full check of the accuwether report from lisa argen coming up in just a little bit. but first in southern california crews have removed an f-16 from inside a warehouse after it crashed two weeks ago. the crash happened in riverside county. you can see the jet all wrapped up on the back of a semitrailer. this is what the warehouse looked like shortly after the crash. the jet crashed during a training mission. no one was hurt and the pilot was able to safely eject. new this morning apple is planning to get rid of itunes. according to bloomberg the company is expected to announce the news at its annual developer conference in san jose on monday. itunes has been the way users listen to music and podcast and watch movies and tv shows for nearly 20 years. apple will soon launch three new apps, music, tv and podcasts.

tracking the forecast. >> also the drizzle, you may need your wipers from time to time. here is live doppler 7 as you put your visibility in miles. up in petaluma and 6 miles in hayward and 3 miles on the coast and certainly a little gray out there, but from high above mount tam you can see the low cloud deck and this will all burn back to the coast so it should be a nice day today and it is 51 in san francisco and 58 in mountain view and san jose. half moon bay sits at 50 and the east bay hills camera, you can see mount diablo there. a beautiful start to the day and the sun coming up in 30 minutes. it is 50 in santa rosa and 56 in napa and 55 fairfield and upper 50s by the delta with low to mid-50s in livermore and concord where tempetusill be a better e pleasant in the 60s so we'll have that range once again in the shoreline to the inland

valleys pretty typical and we'll have the fog and coast at the coast and around bay with the drizzle and mild to warm over the weekend, and temperatures in the 90s inland by next week. it looks like tuesday could be the warmest day. as we go through the next several hours and the low clouds and fog pullback from the san mateo coast and notice, we still have the showers and storms firing up in the sierra nevada. it's been day after day and it looks like that will continue today and as the sun sets it dies down, but tomorrow as the low clouds and fog bringing that stable air to the bay once again by the afternoon we will see more of those showers and thunderstorms from the northern sierra all of the way down into yosemite and we will have the sea breeze here at the coast. a little instability to the east of us while we have that stable air allowing for that range of temperatures at about 20 to 25 degrees. so 62, half moon bay today and 63 at the beach with partly

cloudy skies with west winds 10 it 20 miles an hour and santa cruz should be a nice afternoon in the low 70s. skipping ahead to monday, numbers climb through the upper 80s inland and we'll be in and around 70 degrees around the bay, some of the warmer locations and still cool by the coast and by tuesday, those reds and pinks from the sacramento valley getting closer to our inland valleys and they will offer the mid-7 s around the bay and 60s in the city and by wednesday, still holding on to the warmth inland and slightly cooler at the coastline. 72 in san mateo and look for 75 san rafael, and 82 in san jose. so the accuweather seven-day forecast. 60s, upper 70s to mid-80s today. a nice start to the weekend, a nice start to june, and as we get into your sunday maybe a degree or two cooler at the coast. otherwise, pretty nice. a couple of degrees cooler around the bay and looking at the numbers rebounding on

she's tracking the conditions where you live. hi, lisa. >> hi, chris. another 20 minutes and we'll have the official sunrise and here's the sutro tower camera. you can see the low cloud, marine layer to 1500 feet this morning and temperatures are in the 50s. 51 in san francisco, 52 in morgan hill with 58 both in mountain view and san jose. santa cruz, a lot of clouds, so the low clouds and fog along the coast from the northern california to the central coast and looking at 50 in santa rosa with some fog and 56 in napa and 54 in livermore. visibility down to about nothing in petta luma, and one mile santa rosa and three miles half moon bay. so the plan today will be to have plenty of sunshine and a warmer afternoon and look at the oranges come into play by about 1:00. we have 80s inland and those cool coastline numbers at the beaches. chris? >> lisa, thank you. >> we are learning the length to which san francisco police went trying to identify who leaked a report on the death of public

defender jeff adachi. i-team reporter dan noyes has been going over court documents released yesterday and has the latest. >> san francisco police raided freelance journalist bryan carmody's office three weeks ago, seizing computers, cell phones and notes. the aim to find out who leaked an incident report on the death of public defender jeff adachi in february. it contained photos of the north beach apartment where adachi died and details of a mystery woman known as katrina who was with adachi that night. he got permission from a judge to obtain information from carmody's cell phone for the day after adachi died. subscriber information and call detail records and sms usage, mobile data usage, cell tower data. glen smith is with the first amendment coalition. >> just when you thought this couldn't get any worse it has. >> carmody's attorneys called

the warrant an alarming and disturbing attack in an attempt to unmask the source. remote monitoring of the telephone number device, day or night or locations not open to public or visual surveillance. secret spying without carmody's knowledge. >> it just shows a willingness to really push it to extreme limits in terms of tracking movement and getting a log of who you call and who's called you. >> smith says this is a clear violation of the first amendment and california's shield law which protects journalists and their sources. it may be telling that nowhere in the warrant did journalist appear. did the police try to hide that fact in no comment from the police tonight. for the i-team, dan noyes, abc 7 news. >> the federal government is now

going to investigate why so many gray whales are washing ashore on the west coast. the national oceanic and atmospheric administration says it declared the situation an unusual mortality event freeing up federal funds to investigate. at least 70 gray whales have been found stranded and dead from california to alaska this spring and it's the most in 20 years and it's nearly double of an average year and the most since 2,000. the oakland coliseum now has a new name. the longtime home of the oakland as and the raiders has become ring central coliseum. officials approved the change yesterday and the deal is worth more than $1 million a year. ring central is based in belmont and specializes in corporate communications and temporary signs will be placed in the coliseum next week and permanent signs will replace them later. time now is 5:33. yesterday, more than a hundred wounded veterans gathered on
