this happened to us before. this was unexpected. >> a fire is burping right now in yolo county forcing families out of their homes as it tears through 2,000 acres. one of several fires that broke out amid red flag warnings. >> even hotter air tomorrow. we will have the numbers in the foreca forecast. >> red flag conditions brought wind and heat to several parts of northern california today. families were forced out of their homes and causing others to worry about smoke. we have team coverage and fires burning right now. let's look at our cal fire fire map. the red markers are new

incidents. one fire in napa county burned 50 acres and another burned 600 acres. that's where our reporter is right now. we start withdrew who has been tracking the weather and the red flag warnings. >> we will take you to yolo county to track the active fire and it's still warm and very dry and windy near the fire. relative humidity at 23%. that's dry air at the late night hour. the winds are gusting 20 miles per hour out of the north. in the north bay, you likely see smoke from the fire. the wind is pushing some of the smoke into parts of sonoma, napa and marin county. that will continue into tomorrow morning. you will likely wake up with haze in your atmosphere. the winds are active. look at the wind gusts. over 40 miles per hour. we still have that red flag warning in the north bay lasting

until tomorrow evening where the gusty winds burn dangerously dry air. we will track the winds for you. . the good news is by midday tomorrow, we expect the winds to back off and that lessens the fire danger. however tomorrow is a much warmer day than today. the heat advisory into effect. we will have the numbers in a few minutes. >> thank you very much. happening now, one of the larger fires to break out in yolo county is burning. the sand fire burned more than 17 hundr00 acres still burning highway 16 and prompted manned story evacuations. live from yolo county right now. it's going on out there? >> reporter: i just checked in with cal fire and the sand fire is 0% contained.

this is indicating that highway 16 is still closed. that's the area the fire crews are working through to get a hold on this fire. helen watches intensely as the helicopter circles above her house. they are trying to figure out how serious the sand fire is that's burping. >> we're have no idea how bad this is. >> until the sheriff told them it's time to leave. >> you are aware of the mandatory evacuation? >> it's mandatory? >> yes. >> this is the new norm. >> they have to evacuate with six dogs. >> i take my grandfather's memoirs. >> they lost a farm devastating fire that burned over 90,000 acres. they have supplies in their rv, but no matter how much they planned, it's still touch. >> the biggest concern is losing the farm and the house and we

are under insured. >> cal fire said the sand fire broke out after 2:30 p.m. and pushed along by strong winds in the dry heat. >> they are gaining through there. >> will power said aerial crews were trying to locate the areas that firefighters needed to tackle first. when the fire jumped highway 16, the main road through the area prompted mandatory evacuations. they got no e-mail or text alerts that are important because getting out is not as easy as people think. >> if the casino had to evacuate, you can kiss that off with the traffic. this end had highway 16 and the arbuckle grade road. the county won't maintain it anymore so it could be a death trap. >> earlier today, cal fire indicated that some structures were threatened andy we don't

skies, but the red flag warning with winds whipping over 30 miles per hour in the north bay and will continue to see the winds first thing in the morning before they die down midday tomorrow. that will lessen the fire danger. watch the temperatures. future tracker by 9:00 in the morning, look at the numbers. some cities are already into the low 80s and a lot of 70s area-wide. by noon, lunchtime, the city near 80 degrees. most spots away from the coast are approaching 90 degrees. we still have several more hours of warming to go. for that fact, we have a heat advisory that will go into effect at 10:00 in the morning and lasting through the afternoon for increased risk forever heat exhaustion or heat stroke. these temperatures we're seeing in orange is oakland, san san some oftho this . a closer look at the highs in our microclimate. it will be hot at 96.

good evening. i'm eric thomas. yolo county residents are spending the night in a shelter after a wildfire drove them from their homes. flame burned about 1700 acres. cal fire said 500 firefighters are battling the flame. pg&e cut off power as a precaution due to increased fire danger. electricity was turned off today and power is restored in most of the affected areas. >> we continue to track the red flag warning for the hills in the north bay. this will last until 5:00 tomorrow evening for dry north winds gusting over 40 miles per hour, bringing dangerously low humidity and the chance for any fires to spread quickly. we will have more in a few

state warriors will leave the arena when the finals wrap up. they are ending an era with a golden goodbye. the building will be. ed for building the warriors into the team they're today. i'm hosting a special about the fans and workers who made the arena the home of the golden state warriors. here's a preview. >> few people who work in the arena know the players better than curtis jones. he stands at the tunnel where the team takes to the court and he tosses the ball to steph curry for the tunnel shot before every home game. >> he was warming up one day and shooting the deep shots from the corner. from the tunnel. we got into a conversation about it. they just start throwing me the ball and i start passing it and we went from there.
