abc 7 news. and you can stay up to date on any weather alerts and check the latest accuweather forecast anytime. download our abc 7 news app. hundreds of flights canceled this weekend after a gps navigation system failed, and we have just learned overnight those aircraft are receiving error messages. the administration said there was a problem with the rockwell collins gps system by united technologies. it caused about 400 canceled flights in just the past 24 hours alone for delta, american and united. they were still working to fix the issue. there could be more canceled flights throughout the day today. everything does seem to be okay at our local air reports. a pilot is missing just north of pittsburg. there was a crash yesterday. the rest of the plane and the pilot have not been located.

the pilot was the only person on the plane. deputies used sonar to search for the wreckage and the cause of the crash about be investigated. tonight is a must-win for the warriors as they face a 3-1 deficit against the raptors. >> golden state is still dealing with several injuries. klay thompson, kevon looney and andre iguodala are all playing through their injuries. the biggest question, though, will kevin durant play? he practiced for the first time yesterday since hurting his calf last month. he is, though, listed as questionable for tonight's game. hopefully he comes back. we're preparing like he hasn't been playing. we don't put that pressure on him. it's his decision and the training staff's decision. >> we have to do everything in our willpower to help him get back. if that's win a game and be patient, we have to do that.

that happened just a little bit after 2:00. it was a roll over and it caught fire. they are continuing the investigation and working on getting a tow truck to the scene. not seeing any delays approaching the scene. that is one of our later commutes to fill in. coming in at 17 minutes trying to recover from an earlier disabled vehicle on the bay bridge. westbound 80 into san francisco about 18 minutes. southbound 101 san francisco to sfo in the green at nine minutes. two months after b.a.r.t. proposed an unarmed ambassador program the agency has found funding to launch it. the b.a.r.t. general manager proposed half a million dollars for the program. she says the metropolitan transportation commission may match that bringing funding to a million dollars. they have trained people who dealt with homelessness or addiction. they would monitor trains as an alternative to b.a.r.t. police. the b.a.r.t. board will vote

number one, check out the weather. you would think summer spread. 90 in san francisco once again. 95 in oakland. you head into the east bay valleys and we hit the 100s easily. our second day in a row of dangerous heat. be careful. fire crews in yolo county are making progress against a wildfire that has scorched 2,200 acres of brush. the sand fire forced evacuations. number three, in the east bay a 14-day strike is over. teachers in the new haven unified school district will return to work after voting on a new contract. number four from the live desk, one is dead and five others hurt after a crane collapsed in dallas, texas. right now it's still too dangerous to complete a search there of the paring garage that got crushed. number five, tonight is a must win for the warriors as they face a 3-1 deficit. ken dura

kevin durant is listed as questionable. we don't have many slowdowns on the roads and this isn't causing a delay but is our biggest issue, a fatality investigation under way from a crash that happened about three hours ago on southbound 101 before tamalpais drive. one lane is still blocked. tiger woods is in month ray for the 119th edition of the u.s. open at pebble beach. he is one of the favorites this week after winning the masters in april. the first round tees off on thursday. this scary video out of arizona. this is nest camera footage. you can see on the top right here that trampoline, a gust of wind sends it hurdling into the air with two children on it at the time. both boys are okay now after recovering from some of their injuries. they were playing in this backyard trampoline when the strong gust of wind sent the trampoline and the boys flying 50 feet over a brick wall and actually into the street there.

mid to upper 90s through the north bay. those stick out, don't they? santa rosa and ukiah, triple digits for you. even hotter along the east bay shore. and then the triple digits are breaking out everywhere in our east bay valley. that could feel like 110 to 115 in the sunshine. look at the 50s. the rest of us are in the 60s. a quick look. this scorching air mass. about ten degrees inland. a really comfortable weekend coming this weekend. a very early start with delays. no rhyme or reason for this one. we are heavy getting out of the tracy area.

that is a long stretch of red. that's heavy for nine or ten miles at this point. you know the drill. looks like everyone heading in today. the toll plaza, nice and busy early. 5:15 the official time for the metering lights and that one we do know was causing that. we had an earlier disabled vehicle on the bridge and that's just having a tough time thinning out so we had some residual delays. so taking a look at these drive times, westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze. 21 across the bay bridge. we get further into the commute. san francisco to sfo you're still in the green at nine minutes. a controversial extradition bill drew one of the biggest rallies in hong kong. 240,000 people protested on sunday. opponents believe the bill will

mike. i just got an update on a fatality collision in the north bay that we've been tracking all morning happened after 2:00 today southbound 101 before you get to tamalpais drive. a solo vehicle crash rolled over and caught fire. one person did not survive. they just wrapped up the investigation. all lanes are back open. we never did see much of a backup with this collision. it's in one of those spots that doesn't really fill in until later on in the morning. it wasn't an issue and is not going to be an issue either. westbound 92 slowly starting to fill in but so far no major trouble spots there. alexis, thank you. in yolo county crews are making progress against a wildfire that's scorched 2,200 acres of brush. the sand fire has forced evacuations. flames have burned at least seven buildings. part of highway 16 is still closed and there's no word on when evacuated residents will be able to go back home. in the south bay

firefighters continue to battle a wildfire that has burned more than 200 acres of dry brush in south san jose. it is just one of several wildfires that had crews on the move all weekend long. it broke out around 3:15 yesterday afternoon along highway 101. it is burning near the firing range run by the santa clara county sheriff's office. >> we had a very, very wet may. i think that puts people complacent that fire season is further off. really the grasses and those fuels that are the fine fuels really are ready to burn. >> cal fire says the range was open and is being investigated as one possible cause of the fire. and as temperatures climb, efforts are ramping up in the south bay to keep people prepared for possible wildfires. happening today a town hall meeting to discuss the risk in santa clara county's east foothills. officials will answer questions on things like defensible space around homes and creating an

evacuation plan. the meeting begins at 6:30 at the foothill presbyterian church on mckee road in san jose. one of the country's most popular theme parks will reopen later this morning. a fire nearby forced it to close early yesterday. look at the smoke at six flags magic mountain just outside of l.a. it's going to open as scheduled at 10:30 today. the park was evacuated and closed for the day yesterday afternoon. the fire has burned about 40 acres and is 50% contained. nine people were taken to the hospital for smoke exposure. just coming in to our live desk we just got new video of a car chase that ended in san jose overnight. take a look. a driver led santa clara county deputies on a chase on highway 101. then he got off on king road and stopped the car at king and

story. at least one person was taken into custody. we have reached out to the sheriff's department to find out how this all began so we'll have an update as soon as possible. reggie, back to you. >> thank you, jessica. a teacher's strike in the east bay lasted 14 days. finally it's over. >> the problems are not over, though. many students will return to classrooms this morning in the new haven unified school district. there may be a new issue. reporter amy hollyfield live for us in union city. good morning, amy. >> reporter: hi. good morning, natasha. not all of the teachers returning today are happy about this deal. 1 60% of them voted in favor of the agreement. here is a look at the deal reached with both sides. the teachers will get a 4% pay raise over two years. they had asked for 10%. the teachers will also get a 2.5% bonus this year. the teachers were on strike for two weeks while this deal was hammered out. >> things like this take time.

i think we got it. we got the attention. the strike gave a new kind of understanding to the district. >> reporter: the timing of the strike brought up some interesting issues. students didn't know if they would be taking their final exams or not. they will be taking them this week except for the seniors. administrators went ahead and assigned them a grade without a final exam grade because they needed their transcripts to take to college. now the teachers will come back and they have to look over those grades and see if they need to make any changes. everyone else will be in class this week. the last day of school is thursday. reporting live in union city, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> we're glad to see this has been resolved. thank you. david ortiz is recovering this morning after he was shot in the back at a nightclub in the dominican republic. the former boston red sox slugger was shot last night. he underwent surgery. his father said his son is

resting comfortably. ortiz is a former world series mvp. onlookers held the suspect until police got there. there's no indication of what led up to the shooting. in the east bay the defense is expected to start laying out its case in the ghost ship trial today. among the witnesses attorneys for derick almena and max harris will call to testify is a woman who claims a group of men may have started the fire. sharon evans wasn't inside the warehouse when the fire broke out in december of 2016, but she claims to have seen men outside of the building talking and laughing about the fire as it erupted. the defense believes that evans is critical to clearing almena and harris of charges in the deaths of 36 people. happening this week the state legislature is expected to approve a budget deal that will make california the first state to pay for health benefits for low-income adults even if they're undocumented. the budget plan will cover adults between 19 and 25. the health benefits will be paid under medical. democrats pushed the proposal as part of their $213 billion

that's even warmer in places like concord at 68. and napa att 58 degrees. we're up to 13 degrees cooler in some neighborhoods. let's see how it affects your travel today. so driving hot. mass transit warm to hot. ferry ride, calm and hot. don't forget a car left outside in this heat in 20 minutes it can warm nearly 30 degrees. in 30 minutes it can warm 35 to 40 degrees and if it's out there for an hour it can warm nearly 40 to 45 degrees. so if the temperature is 100, that means your car could be around 145 inside. make sure you put those shades up. you don't want to grab the steering wheel when it's that hot. 80 at 9:00 and 11:00 you're 90 on your way to some 100s this afternoon. how about the east bay, near 70 at 7:00. still near 80 at 9:00. near 90, 11:00. mid-90s from noon all the way through about 5:00.

ace 1 and 3 out on time. no delays for ac transit. there is a new feature on the google maps app. it has a live speedometer that shows your speed alongside local speed limits. the speedometer shows up in the lower left corner. it can be turned off if you go into the settings. the feature is not yet fully functional on android. microsoft is developing a new xbox console. code named scarlet involves a gaming system with graphics twice as sharp as the average tv. it will be released before the holiday season next year along with a new version of halo. tiger woods is in monterey for the 119th edition of the u.s. open at pebble beach. video shows the golfer getting in a practice round yesterday. 19 years ago woods crushed the field in the most dominating performance in a major championship golf tournament. he won the u.s. open by 15 shots. he's one of the favorites this week after winning the masters in april. the first round tees off thursday. new at 6:00 another reason to lower your stress levels.
