because heat causes the tracks to expand. some b.a.r.t. cars were pulled out of service because they were overheating. riders can check b.a.r.t.'s facebook and twitter for updates on delays. it is 4:30. if you're just joining us, a quick update on weather and traffic where you live starting with meteorologist mike nicco. hey, mike. we'll start with taking a look at what's going on with our air quality. right now everybody is good. but later on today poor air quality for those most sensitive could develop, and that's why all of us under a spare the air again. notice what happens thursday. no spare the air. friday, we're all breathing really good air. take a look at the breezes. not much out there now. because of that, we have the stagnant, warm air. notice the lack of clouds from the exploratorium. the marine layer is not here yet. that's why we're at 60 at the coast. near 70 at 7:00. we'll stay in the 60s to near 70 at the coast. 83 to 91, warm to hot around the bay and inland. 86 to 96. temperatures dropping into the 70s by 7:00.

alexis? good morning, mike. like i mentioned just a few minutes ago we don't have any major incidents on theboard. we have some road work this early hour and we can always count on the tracy commute ramping up very early. 25 miles an hour respectively. looks like a little delay on the eastbound side due to overnight road work. that will cause you a little bit of a slowdown. a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. a stackup in the cash lanes on either side. no metering lights yet. no car-pool lanes saw that driver sneak back into the cash lanes. those should open closer to 5:00. thanks, alexis. kevin durant expected to get results back today from his mri. the fear is that he tore his achilles tendon. >> this as the team practices for their last game at oracle arena where abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is this morning. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. hard to believe that k.d. will

never play here at oracle again. the team is back. the team just got back yesterday from toronto, but they arrived here in oakland without kevin durant. he flew to new york to get an mri on his achilles tendon. durant went down in game five in toronto, and the fear is that he tore the tendon, which would mean surgery and being out for 9 to 12 months. this has led to a lot of speculation about his future. his mom put out a tweet trying to calm all of the talk saying that durant has the heart of a warrior and that this, too, shall pass. she will be on "good morning america" this morning, facing a lot of questions about how he's doing and also about his future. we will bring you some highlights from that interview later in our morning show, so stay with us for that. reporting live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> we look forward to that. thank you, amy. abc 7 is the only place to watch the warriors in the nba finals.

criminal defendants to be extradited from hong kong to mainland china for trial. under the one country two systems agreement, hong kong was guaranteed its own social, legal and political systems for 50 years starting in 1997 when the former british colony was returned to china. the communist party in china has been forcing legal changesprest. i will keep my eye on things this morning. former stanford sailing coach faces sentencing in the college cheating scandal. he admitted to accepting $610,000 in bribes from college applicants. prosecutors want him to serve 13 months in prison on federal racketeering charges. none of the students who paid him money actually got into stanford. he didn't actually pocket the money. it went towards the sailing program. his sentencing is among the 22 who have pled guilty or agreed to do so. the sales force transit center will reopen july 1st.

afternoon, that's when the heat will moderate. we'll get relief everywhere tomorrow and the relief will spread into the weekend but then it starts warming again and we hit the low to mid-90s in next week's forecast. 88 in milpitas. san jose, 92. about 80 in santa cruz. head up the peninsula, we start in the upper 80s in palo alto, redwood city and drop down in millbrae. notice the clouds coming in late this afternoon. we'll run up to 78, but i think this afternoon temperatures will be more breezeak it to those neighborhoods. and then you can see some mid to upper 80s in san rafael, petaluma, sonoma and vallejo. low to mid-90s for the rest of the north bay until you get to clover dale northward and we'll be near 100 once again. mid to upper 80s along the east bay shore with oakland at 85. as we move inland temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. here is a look at the cloud cover this morning. notice the temperatures.

temperatures in the 60s and 70s. and mike tells us the areas expected to reach the 90s today. again. good morning on this wednesday, july 12th. >> i hope you have a friend with air conditioning. >> june 12th. it's still june. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. this will end eventually, right? >> it will end and it will start today along the coast in san francisco this afternoon and the rest of us will feel it tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon. the reason we're so warm not only the record highs from yesterday but mother nature pulled a blanket in the form of clouds and keeping the heat on top of us. they're high clouds not the marine clouds that would signify that the cooling sea breeze is here. we're 60 at the coast. 80 to 88 degrees by noon. still in the 60s at the coast and still pretty coasty at 7:00.
