680 in the green. northbound 85 to cupertino in the green at 16 minutes. people in many parts of the bay area will soon be dealing with those hot temperatures today. >> people have been coping on b.a.r.t. trains. abc 7 news reporter anser hassan lie in the b.a.r.t. station for us. good morning. >> reporter: it's been a bit of a slow start. there was a power outage earlier due to some maintenance work. this pattern has caused system wide problems for b.a.r.t. trains and b.a.r.t. tracks. it has been so hot that the heat caused tracks to warp making for a bumpy ride. b.a.r.t. had problems with switches meanin they would have to slow way down if not come to a complete stop until the switch

was made. crews had to set up portable air conditioners for the trains' control rooms to keep the equipment from overheating. this meant long lines in the heat and delays on trains. many complained of hotter temperatures on trains than out on streets. they said with the cooler temperatures there may not be as many problems with b.a.r.t. so far no delays at this station. >> we have learned that mountain view will not ban overnight parking for rvs for now. at the live desk i've been following a city council meeting that lasted until 3:30 this morning. it ended while you were sleeping. at the heart of the issue many homeless people who live in rvs and trailer homes parked on city

streets. the city considered banning overnight parking but opponents, including the aclu, say that's unconstitutional. dozens rallied outside of city hall last night and after hearing comments from the public held a long discussion. by the way, there were a lot of people commenting. councilmembers decided to have staff research the health and safety concerns related to long-term rv parking. they're tabling it, revisiting the issue later. back to you. it is 6:03. we have new details in a deadly officer involved shooting in the east bay. police say they shot and killed a 56-year-old man at his home. the shooting happened in san leandro at a home on martin boulevard. you can see sky 7 flew overhead as police were surrounding it yesterday afternoon. one officer shot a man on the front porch after an incident in the neighborhood. >> the caller that called 911 stated to the dispatcher that

this individual was walking up and down the street wielding the machete and at one point had dropped his pants and exposed his genitals to small children that were on the street as well. >> police say that officers tried to reason with the suspect for five minutes. they say he dropped his machete but then flashed another object and pointed it at officers. a nine-year veteran thought it was a gun and opened fire. london breed will face six challengers in the mayoral race. here are the candidates. ellen lee zhou, joel ventresca, wilma pang, robert jordan, a street minister, along with paul robertson and jean david schu. london breed took the office after mayor lee's sudden death.

san francisco's plan to charge tourists on lombard street faces its first major test. a committee will vote on whether to implement a pilot program. officials are still working out the details how much they would charge and how the reservations would be made. confusion and long wait times. >> abc 7 news is at the airport as travelers and drivers tried to navigate their way through this change. last week the ride share zone was moved to the fifth floor of the domestic garage. there was chaos with people waiting 30 minutes or longer. sfo says it is one of its busiest times and then a vehicle stalled creating a traffic jam. >> normally you take uber to get in and out. right now we're lost. >> it's not comfortable for me or the customer as well.

there's no sea breeze right now except for right at the immediate coast. 88 to about 95 down in the south bay with 92 in san jose. mid to upper 80s along the peninsula until we get to 80 in millbrae. a little more relief this afternoon. temperatures in the upper 60s for highs along the coast. temperatures will fall as the sea breeze kicks in. you can see it affecting the north bay with mid to upper 80s. 90s elsewhere. we'll have mid to upper 80s and then into the east bay valleys upper 90s to low 100s. pretty quiet. notice the colors getting warmer as we head up to 3:00 and then watch the colors retreat back to the central valleys. lows in the 50s and 60s.

enjoy thursday, friday and saturday as temperatures get back to average. they get warmer mondayesda ridge. you do see the flashing lights nobd 101 in the south tower, that far right lane is blocked. the commute fills in later in the morning. if you're leaving san francisco north you should be okay. the san mateo bridge at a standstill just past the toll plaza. it sounds like a disable d vehicle. hopefully help will arrive soon. that is causing at least a 10 to 15-minute delay.

sailing head coach at stanford university. he pled guilty. according to court documents he created a fake sailing profile for chinese student after receiving $500,000 from the scheme's alleged mastermind. her family allegingly paying $6.5 to get her admitted. the largest payment known in the case. her parents never charged and she no longer attends the university. this could set the tone as others await their fate including felicity huffman who committed guilty to commit mail fraud and lori loughlin and her husband pleading not guilty, both facing years behind bars if ense attorneys are asking for probation only because he never actually kept the alleged bribe funds for himself, that

today marks 25 years since nicole brown simpson and ron goldman were murdered. bay area native o.j. simpson was acquitted in what was called the trial of the century. simpson says he and his children are moving on. he was released from prison after spending nine years behind bars for unrelated charges of robbery and kidnapping. the goldman family is keeping the focus on the family member they lost. kim and fred goldman are on "good morning america." >> 25 years. ron would be 50 now. i have a hard time recognizing or reckoning that whole idea. >> you can watch the goldmans full intervup at 7:00 right after abc 7 mornings. here at the live desk following the house judiciary committee vote that's happening today on the 9/11 victims
