going to go to jail. this is a good young man. that he was going to go to jail. >> reporter: don junior has been caught up in the russia investigation because of that trump tower meeting in 2016 which he set up expecting to get dirt on hillary clinton from the russian government. >> okay. let's put yourself in a position. you're a congressman. somebody comes up and says, hey. i have information on your opponent. do you call the fbi? i'll tell you what, i have seen a lot of things in my life. i don't think in my whole life i call the fbi. in my whole life. you don't call the fbi. >> the fbi director said that should happen. >> the fbi director is wrong because frankly, it doesn't happen like that in life. >> your campaign this time around, if foreigners, russia, china or someone else offers information on the opponent should they accept it or call the fbi? >> i think you do both. you might want to listen. there's nothing wrong with listening. if somebody called from a country, norway, we have information on your opponent, oh, i think i'd want to hear it. >> you want that kind of interference in our elections?

>> it's not an interference. they have information. i think i'd take it. >> robin, i've got to tell you guys, that was just a stunning moment for me for the president to admit it like this. this has been at the heart of the debate for the last two years, foreign interference in our elections, whether or not russia tried to interfere, whether they were trying to deliver dirt on hillary clinton. he said i'd take a look at it before i called the fbi, and as i pointed out in that int interview, the fbi director said, absolutely, if you get an offer like that, you should go straight to the fbi. the president said that was wrong. it's getting an explosive t p world. >> it's generating headlines and as you can imagine, the 2020 candidates are weighing in as well. let's go to mary bruce in washington with the latest. good morning, mary. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this is sending shock waves through the 2020 race. the president's opponents saying what he's talking about in this interview isn't oppo research, it's foreign interference and they say it's dangerous. the president's top target on the trail, joe biden, tweeting,

it isn't about politics. it's a threat to our national security, adding that an american president should not seek their aid and abet those who seek to undermine democracy. kamala harris says trump is sending a clear message to our adversaries. take a listen. >> to our adversaries around the world and fill in the blanks, north korea, russia fill in the blank. he's sending a signal to them, hey, come on in. >> reporter: meanwhile, bernie sanders e kirsten gillibrand and elizabeth warren all have a urge of the need to impeach the president. and trump welcomed the help and now he said he'd do it all over again. guys, she says now is the time to impeach donald trump. >> mary, that's all of the presidential candidates. this is also creating more debate in congress, likely to put more pressure on house speaker nancy pelosi. >> absolutely, george. we have been seeing the pressure already growing on the house

the floor, and clubgoers right their seats, this morning, the alleged gunman, 25-year-old rolfi ferriera cruz is behind bars. police say this is the gun he used, holding it up during a news conference where they announced a total of six people have been arrested and they're still looking for more. investigators say the men agreed to kill big papi for less than $8,000. the alleged plan involved these two hyundais parked in front of each other. you can see one man getting out of one of the cars. a motorcycle nearby, the alleged getaway vehicle, shown moments later with two men on it, driving down the street moments before the ambush. police say the suspect stalked ortiz while he was out at a nightclub in santo domingo on sunday night, shooting him while he was outside on the patio. ortiz in boston, where we played for the red sox and back home in the dominican republic. though police say they know who tried to kill big papi, they have yet to say why.

ortiz's wife tells us he is recovering here in the hospital, but he has to maintain himself in the intensive care unit. fans all week all around boston have been wearing big papi jerseys. they tell me they've been praying for the slugger and we're expecting as soon as he's better, as soon as he's stronger, they're likely to have a big welcome back party at fenway, george. >> looking forward to that. tom, thank you very much. now to that breaking news overseas. the u.s. navy is rushing to help two oil tankers in oman. this comes amid rising tensions with iran. joining us is chief global affairs anchor martha raddatz. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, george. the u.s. navy received two separate distress calls this morning, 45 minutes apart, after reports of explosions on the tankers and then rushed the "uss bainbridge," a guided missile destroyer, to help. it happened in international waters between the coasts of iran and oman, near the straits of hormuz.

that major waterway for the world's oil. this was in the same waters where four tankers were sabotaged last month, but the damage from the suspected attack this morning appears to be far more serious. the crew was forced to evacuate from one of the ships. and reports are that at least one of the tankers is on fire. the u.s. blamed iran for the sabotage of the ships last month, a claim in which iran denied. this occurred while japan's prime minister was meeting with iran's ayatollah to ease tensions in the region, but this will surely raise tensions even further. michael? >> definitely tensions will rise. thank you so much, martha. we're going to turn now to that thrilling stanley cup final, a moment that was 52 years in the making, the st. louis blues winning game seven, beating boston, capturing their first championship ever. abc's alex perez in st. louis where fans were celebrating late into the night. hopefully they can't keep you

convicted. >> i'm so grateful to have my life back. >> reporter: her ordeal quickly spiraled into a frenzy. portraying amanda as an american beauty with a dark secret throughout her trial and incarceration. amanda and her former boyfriend, raffaele sollecito, were convicted of murdering her roommate meredith kercher. in 2011, both of their convictions overturned. amanda freed, returning back to america. then in 2015, a stunning reversal, knox convicted of murder all over again. shortly after she sat down with robin no 2014 saying she never would willingly go back. >> you said that you would never willingly go back, they would have to catch you first and you'd go kicking and screaming. >> yeah, i'm going to fight this until the very end. >> reporter: and she did, found not guilty a second time in 2015. now amanda penning an op-ed and medium saying she's going back because, "i have been invited by the italy innocence project to

between 10 to 15 people were stung by sti o morning. while california round rays are known to feed in the shallow waters, burying they're hard to see, experts say the temperatures are to blame. >> it's definitely the worst pain i've felt. >> reporter: stingray tails are covered in venom, hence the name. and they range in size from a few inches in width to the manta ray which can grow to 23 feet wide. in 2006, world famous crocodile hunter steve irwin died after a stingray's jagged barb punctured his chest. but experts say the majority of stings are not fatal. if there are stingrays nearby or the threat of them, what's the best way to enter the water? >> enter the water, but people have a tendency to make big crashing steps. you actually want to shuffle. i'm going to do it backwards. shuffle forward, that's making a

we are back now here live in philadelphia with more of george's exclusive interview with president trump. it was an extraordinary 48 hours. you spent time with him in the oval office. you spent time with him in the limousine and air force one. >> world's most famous plane. no question about that, robin. we've seen air force one. we've seen the movie "air force one." it's a huge plane that's basically a flying office. it's a flying white house, and it's equipped for any kind of emergency. now what's happened is the president has been seized with the idea of redesigning air force one. and he's actually taken this on as a personal mission. and he gave us a first look at new designs along with some air force one pilots. take a look. >> reporter: we had the chance to fly with the president, on

board the most famous plane, air force once. >> look at this. >> reporter: then a surprise from the president. the first look at an updated aircraft, a new look for air force one, that he designed himself. >> there's a new air force one, and i'm doing that for other presidents, not for me. >> reporter: it's scheduled to arrive in 2024, the exterior getting the makeover with a red, white and blue paint scheme, different than the durcurrent b and white. the current planes have been in icr decades. >> we had different choices here. these are all slightly different. >> reporter: is the frame still a 747? >> it's a 747. it's a bigger plane. bigger wingspan. >> reporter: some of the president's changes might be targeted by democratic lawmakers. the house armed services committee voted wednesday to require oversight of changes to air force one's interior,

fixtures and paint, but that hasn't stopped the president from planning for new additions. >>, in fact, we added things, and it got $1.6 billion off the price. >> reporter: is there a pod or not? >> a pod? >> you seen the movie "air force one"? the famous pod that flies out of the back? >> oh, i see, but no. i can tell you, there are a couple of secrets. i don't think we're supposed to be talking about it. anyways, there it is, if you want. >> reporter: you can see the pilots. don't say anything. he wasn't going to say anything because there are so many secrets on that airplane. >> there should be. >> the president is very interested in the subject, and you is a you the designs looked pretty great, and we'll see if congress approves. he says it's for the next president. we're going to roll that out in a primetime special. it depends on when the nba finals finish, either sunday night or tuesday night, and that's coming up.

increasing the pressure on house speaker nancy pelosi. >> how was it the last couple of days? >> very extraordinary. the president is very generous with his time. he gave us incredible access in every part of the white house. he has a lot on his mind. he is getting ready to gear up and announce his election campaign next tuesday. he's excited about the fact he's got 70,000 people coming. he wants to talk about the economy, he wants to talk about the military but he's seized by the questions about the mueller report, about the investigation. he brought it up himself. >> he brought it up? >> he brought it up. many times, he wants to talk on that. it's creating debate. >> a lot of comments were unprompted from you. >> oh, he started -- as you know, he believes the mueller investigation, he calls it a witch hunt, despite the fact it's been commissioned. and they found real russian entinterference in the last

>> you're talking about a really high-poverty area, an area i would consider to be a food desert, where people don't have access to high-quality food. >> reporter: and it was charles who began a weekly handout of fresh produce. >> a lot of the students here don't have transportation. imagine having to walk to school without eating nve vegetables. you see the change in the student. how they talk. how they walk. how they interact with others. >> reporter: for mr. charles, no task too small. no life crisis too big. >> i had a girl who had just had her 19th birthday which made her ineligible for child services. suddenly, she was homeless. there's charles with an answer. a phone call later and she had a place to go. >> some people wouldn't probably care, but he cared enough to make sure i had somewhere to sleep. >> reporter: jay dillard couldn't afford to go to prom, but charles took care of everything. >> the suit, the shoes, the haircut and a ticket. he was like, i got everything. i was like, wow, okay.

>> reporter: the mr. charles stories are countless. >> he always gets on me about going to college and going to class and making sure my grades are good. >> he became that male role model that i never had in my life. >> so some kids, he's the only father figure that they know. >> reporter: charles' own son sees the value of his father's gifts. >> i'm a black man growing up in the city of philadelphia, statistically, it's hard to make it without a father. >> i would like to tell him that i love him. i never told him that before. >> charles cares. he cares so truly, so genuinely. >> and so it touches me because you see these children. they're in and they're out and you know they are struggling. you know their history, and you know they're coming from, most times, bad homes, and to have people be it my husband, whoever, who are willing to go the extra mile to make sure their needs are met, is awesome. >> i did it, i appreciate everything he did for me to make
